It's Claudia willingly letting Madeline read her diaries vs. Lestat and the coven stealing them and using the contents against her. It's Louis being turned while being in a state of distress vs. Madeline having time to think about her decision. It's Madeline having a choice at all vs. Claudia getting turned without her consent. Even the scene where Claudia kills in front of Madeline for the first time, while similar to Lestat and louis in the church, it's different. Claudia doesn't immediately go into asking Madeline to be her companion. She gently tells her she'll clean up the mess and they talk after. Madeline could have run at any time between that and them going to the apartment, but she doesn't. Unlike the other relationships we see, they had a good foundation. They broke the cycle.
