The Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) reported that since October 7, Israeli authorities have detained 640 Palestinian children from the occupied West Bank.
Currently, about 250 children remain in Israeli prisons, where they reportedly face abuse and torture.
On the first day of the Eid al-Adha holiday, PPS reported that Israeli authorities detained a seven-year-old child, Baha Kazem Haj Mohammed, from the town of al-Mughayyir, east of Ramallah.
According to his family, Baha was detained while at the town centre with other children and youths.
PPS stated that he was beaten on his hands during detention and then released far from his home.
Israel is the only country that systematically prosecutes minors in military courts, which often accept confessions obtained by coercion.
An estimated 500-700 children, some as young as 12, are tried in military courts every year, the most common charge being stone-throwing, which carries a 20-year prison sentence.
Defence for Children International-Palestine (DCIP) also documented the widespread "routine" detainment of child detainees in solitary confinement.
In 1991, Israel ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) which states that children should only be detained as a last resort.
But a series of policy changes have created loopholes allowing the Israeli authorities to convict children.

Mao mao: I do however, believe in sensible and rational violence, in which the person in question definitely deserves it.

If there's one thing I find quite fascinating as an OFTS enjoyer, it's the varying opinions we have about the show's characters.
Every single character has both shooters as well as critics, and there's not a single opinion that unites us all. Why? Well, it might just be because these characters are astonishingly realistic.
Take RayMew for instance, cause I've seen heated debates on both sides of this dynamic. Some argue that Mew is treading on thin ice by pursuing a relationship with Ray, knowing full well about his emotional volatility.
On the flip side, there are staunch defenders of Mew who insist that he's vulnerable, having been betrayed and cheated on, and Ray is capitalizing on that (just like Boston implied)! The opinions here are a muddied mess, much like the characters' feelings.
Then, there's Nick and Boston. I mean, most viewers find themselves sympathizing with Nick and harboring a deep dislike for Boston for obvious reasons.
But a good number of them also admit that Nick was wrong to record Boston without consent, and Boston has always been transparent about his feelings toward Nick.
Sand, who is mostly loved by all, isn't immune to scrutiny either. While many of us adore him, we can't deny his imperfections.
It's this multi-dimensional nature of the characters that makes discussing this show so exhilarating.
There are no definitive right or wrong takes when it comes to these characters; it's all about perspective.
It's about slipping into their shoes, understanding why they make the choices they do, and then looking at it from another character's standpoint, and understanding why they are criticized.
It's the realism that I enjoy so much. In the real world, most people aren't simply categorized as inherently good or evil; they're shaped by their experiences and personalities.
We all have those people in our lives who staunchly stand by us, no matter what, and those who will never understand us. The characters of Only Friends embody this human complexity to the fullest.
None of them are perfect, and that's precisely why we're drawn to them. They're beautifully flawed, just like real people.
What makes it so captivating for me isn't just following the story in the show. It's also diving into character discussions, hearing a spectrum of fan opinions, and embracing the diversity of viewpoints.
Personally, I appreciate both the criticisms and defenses for each character. It's this variety of perspectives that makes this show so fun to discuss.
ok so last night (the night before ep7 dropped) i made this post in which i speculated that style might end up killing someone at some point in the future. after having watched ep7 i'm not so sure style will be outright killing someone (idk if the series would go that dark), but i would NOT be surprised if we saw style shoot someone with a gun (injuring them at least, if not actually killing them)
here's why:
at the rock pub style came into fadel' world and had to do something to blend into that exact world
what else is fadel's world? a pretty big part of fadel's world? his hitman identity. i wouldn't be surprised if style would have to do something to blend into fadel's hitman world. and i have previously considered that the thing would be to shoot someone, and episode 7 just kind of strengthens my suspision
in fact, style might even embrace the hitman life:
but let me take a shot some time, too แต่มึงให้กูยิงบ้างดิ [dtàe - mueng - hâi - guu - ying - bâang - dì] but - you - let - I/me - shoot - some - [particle]
(the official translation is less on the nose: "But you gotta let me play, too.")
and then later in the episode we see him grab a (real) gun and threaten someone without any hesitation whatsoever:
not to mention how completely unafraid he was when fadel was pointing a gun at him, calling him his "teeruk-hitman":
will style be shooting a random person?? like, maybe one of fadel and bison's targets?
or will be shooting fadel?
or will he be shooting kant?
either way, there are a suspicious amount of references to guns and shooting around style
Hurt so bad, my handkerchief is drenched. I asked for messy not pain.
“You wanted me to go to rehab cause my dad hired you right? All this time together, did you duped me, making me fall for you and sleep with you?” Ray
“Do you think I don’t have dignity?” Sand
“Yes! You will do anything for money.” Ray
“You can think what you want, but whatever I did was because I care for you.” Sand
“You care about me?? You said that, you wanted me to stop drinking, but here you are, making liquor and selling them!” Ray
😞😢 - offff that hurt even more so that I thought! (And Ray was finally taking the right step….throwing away his alcohol bottles before seeing Sand with his Dad 😭) - but as much as it pains me to say it, Ray is correct - Sand will need to make a communal effort to also minimise alcohol exposure for Ray to successfully be weaned off alcohol, cause the slightest thing can set him back
Only Friends, Episode 10

Exactly. And I was crying so much.
Ok the sun and the star is cringe (in a ‘this is definitely written for middle schoolers and not for me’ way), but it is also very endearing. The idea of slowly unraveling the strings of pain, heartache, anger, isolation and grief that you’ve wound deep in your chest after enduring so much trauma and figuring out the balance of light and dark that can and does coincide within you and the the realization that you do not have to carry the weight of all of it alone is just … excruciatingly beautiful and powerful
i've never felt more like part of a family when i check to see if ao3 is down, and see how we all gnaw at the bars of our enclosure
She/Her, Slytherin, can't focus on one thing, loves morally gray characters, likes bl way too much, all signs lead to it
