Disclaimer: this post will have no mention of tulpas. I see them grouped with thoughtforms constantly, and from my limited understanding of tulpamancy, the definition that I see passed around on Tumblr is fully incorrect. Tulpamancy is also a closed practice. It isn't mine to be part of, and in all likelihood, it probably isn't yours to be apart of either.
Second disclaimer: this is all 100% my opinion and my own personal beliefs. You do not have to agree with me
(Important note: This is NOT the same philosophy that HelPols apply to gods, we do not believe that they exist because we know about them. We believe they exist as fully separate entities regardless of if we believe in or observe them)
In my own personal opinion, this is bullshit fear mongering. In my opinion, I think there are dangers to casting spells on big figures. I mean, everyone and their mother hexed trump in 2020, and he just had the biggest political turnaround in modern history that literally nobody saw coming. Some might say it's connected. My personal opinion is that there's OTHER reasons you shouldn't cast on big figures like this. But historically, we cannot ignore the fact that hexes and curses have been used by the oppressed to fight back against the oppressors. Erasing that erases so much history that it's important we don't forget.
In my opinion, I agree with this! From my standpoint as a Hellenic polytheist, I will never hold any spirit as highly as I do the gods, however I do believe that egregores can be worked with like any other spirit. Even the PGM has a spell for creating a personal daimon, and in many ways I see this as no different.
So if one wanted to work with Twilight Sparkle, under this school of thought, you aren't actually working with a personified spirit of a cartoon horse. It's more like a way to visualize a spirit of kindness, knowledge, magic, friendship, learning, etc. Some might just use the image of Twilight Sparkle as a way to bring those things into ones life. A lot of autistic practicioners do this because it's a way to link your practice to something you already know about and like.
The second school of thought is obviously, as per the post, that you are actually working with an egregore of Twilight Sparkle, and that it can manifest as the cartoon horse, because that's the collective belief in it.
I don't judge anyone for not understanding it, but I urge you to give it a try even if you think you won't like it. Opening yourself up to energy work is so rewarding if you're willing
Magius garden🌹 a new tumblr community for magical heroes/irl magical girls.
I decided to start this group for other magical heroes to use to ask questions, meet one another, help each other, ect.
If you want to ask something feel free! I or perhaps other community members will gladly help!
We also happily welcome new irl magical heroes or those interested in it!
Welcome to the garden darlings.❤️🌹
Loki with his children - Hel, Fenrir and Jörmungandr from Norse mythology. Art in limited palette.
A short bit on witches!🌹
Witches are the manifestation of despair or puella magi who have witched out. Witches are the main thing we puella magis fight. They hide in labyrinths and can be dangerous if left unchecked. Normally they have familiars who assist in spread curses.
We fight witches because it can be reallyyyyyy dangerous if they are left unattended!! Normally they hurt a person's mental health or control them. The other reason we fight witches is to aquire grief seeds to cleanse our soul gems. I will make a section on soul gems and grief seeds as well.
Witches are created in many ways. Negative energy, a grief seeds being corrupted, corrupt soul gems, familiars.
A witches kiss aka a sigil are used to identify a witch and used by someone to track them down. Some astral magi use them but it isn't needed unless you want to use them!
I hope you have a wonderful day or night darlings! ~♡🌹♡~
A few people have asked me what I would consider to be valid work for a magical girl. In a similar vein, I’ve seen a lot of folks here struggle with the idea of ‘concepts’ and feeling that they need to conform to a preconceived notion of what magical heroes do.
This post has been a long time coming but I think I’m finally feeling confident about what I want to convey here. If you’ve been waiting on this, thank you so much for your patience and I hope it helps you in your journey!
This post is part of my Magi Praxis series. If you have any suggestions for future topics, or you have attempted anything I have shared and want you share your experiences, please send me a message! I am always happy to go back and provide further explanation as well. ☆
While tasks like tracking down Labyrinths and vanquishing evil entities seem to be almost standard for many magical girls, these by no means define what it means to be a magical hero. I would also go so far as to say that you do not need to transform, whether that would be physically or astrally, to be a magical girl.
Our jobs boil down to a simple idea: to make the world a better place. How we then decide to go about that is what ultimately makes our individual approaches and practices unique.
While a statement like ‘making the world a better place’ can seem grandiose and unachievable, we can decide to start smaller or on a more personal level. Realistically, it may be more feasible and responsible to approach your work in a way that makes the world better for you, your friends and family, or your communities.
We do not all need to tackle big, existential problems through our magical duties—especially if you’re just starting out on your journey. Focus on making the world happier, more welcoming, and more habitable for you. This may take the form of self-care, confidence boosting, or glamours through the use of magia. You can also do this through volunteer work, community building, and mutual aid; I often find that helping others helps me with my complicated feelings of confidence and self-worth.
This is not to say that the astral battles and the like aren’t worthwhile, but they should be done with the goal of making our world and communities better—however you envision that to be.
I've noticed that in both on and offline witchy and pagan communities a lot of people's first question relating to deity work and communication is "how do I tell if something is a sign" so I wanted to share my perspective and how I vet something as being a sign or message from my deity or not. This is a pretty simplified 'checklist', but it's important to note that signs are not my main form of communication with my deity which is why I'm quite 'conservative' in identification of them!
How many times? Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence but three times may be a sign. This is a general rule I use for signs like angel numbers, specific animals or imagery or something similiar. Though it doesn't always apply - for example, if I see five crows on a nearby roof I don't see it as a sign because that is a very common sight where I live. But if I see three deer near my house in one day, that IS pretty mystical.
How unusual is it? If something 'makes sense' or can be easily explained by mundane reasons it is less likely to be a sign, and this can work in "levels". E.g. if I see a spider in the corner of my room, that's pretty unlikely to be a sign because that's just what spiders do. A spider running across a specific chapter in my book or tarot guide is still explainable but I'd probably check if it was meant to be a sign. And a sparrowhawk landing on my windowsill would almost definitely be a sign because they rarely come into the area where I live.
How does it make me feel? Sometimes I get a gut feeling that something is a sign or a message, even if it isn't unusual or has only happened once. This can easily be mistaken for 'wanting' something to be a sign so still vet and double check but the differentation does with time, experience and a growing relationship with a deity. Often, signs are clear that they are signs, because you're deity wants you to see them and so your intuition often drags your attention to the, and tells you that they're special somehow.
How do I confirm? I almost always vet signs and messages, typically it's just a quick tarot reading to confirm that something was a sign and what it might mean or represent. Often I'll also meditate or consider the sign to see what feelings or knowledge it inspires in me as well. Sometimes I don't need confirmation, I just know. But that has come with time and I would always check early in my relationship to my Mother Nature.
Important notes If something is just coincidence, that's okay, and it's still cool! So what if that crow wasn't a sign from a deity, you still got to see a crow! And so what if that fortune cookie message wasn't actually a message from your spirit guides, it can still be an inspiring and needed message! There is magic in the mundane and that's wonderful.
If you're new to paganism or witchcraft and want to work with a deity I will warn you to be wary and do a lot of research. Don't just assume: "I saw crows the other day, Odin must be reaching out to me." or "I found a bunch of rose petals on the floor so it must be aphrodite." Signs can mean a great number of things and if you truly believe it is a deity, vet and research source materials for that deity and pantheon. Ask for confirmation and take things slowly, it is very easy to trick yourself into seeing something you want to see.
Signs vary between practitioners and it's important to understand and respect that. What might mean one thing to you, means something entirely different to someone else - even if you're devoted to the same deity. While I always recommend checking original religious sources (if possible) for traditional omens and meanings, they will probably be quite unique to you!!
Tell me about some signs you've recieved from your deity or spirit guides (or whoever)! Mine tend to be animals or plants, which is definitely on brand!
The Gods don’t find you embarrassing. The Gods don’t care about seeming cool and professional for the approval of others.
Make that fucking aesthetic photo collage for Aphrodite with cute pics you found on Pinterest .
Dress up like Hermes and go for a damn walk.
Collect random stones you think are cool and put them on your altar.
Put that photo of that cartoon character that reminds you of your deity on your altar.
Make that Minecraft temple to Hekate, domesticate those damn Minecraft wolves for Cerberus.
Make your deities in the sims!
Write soppy melodramatic poetry for Dionysus that no one else will read.
Make self insert fanfics about your favourite Gods and write them all as your best friends. Let them interact with your edgy ocs.
Create an AU where you and your Gods are all characters from your favourite anime.
Record silly little songs for them
Make them paintings that are full of clashing colors and weird forms.
Draw them a fursona
Wear that bright yellow outfit for Apollon.
Put on a dramatic makeup look for Aphrodite.
Call your closest deity that silly little nickname you have for them and let them call you one too.
Share your special interests with your Gods. Design your God as a pokémon or a crystal gem, or a sonic character.
Those losers that try to make you feel bad for being passionate will never have what you have.
In the words of the Great Lord Hermes: “Every human I have ever liked was at least a little bit cringe”
BE CRINGE. BE PROUD. THE GODS LOVE YOU.
do u know how to astral project :D
not yet T_T im going to be trying to astral project once i've researched enough though !!!
hii !! im an irl magical boy, and not an rp blog :D
my concept is pmmm, and im not contracted yet, but i hope to be soon !
Morning mahous!!!
I would just like to say that this blog is not for rp/ aesthetic purposes. It is also not a delusion. I am a real magical girl 😁🎀🌟
Yes, I have magic. Yes, I am perfectly sane.
feel free to reblog if you are also a real magical girl and are not using the tag for aesthetic purposes or roleplay.
(note; this is not roleplay, delusion, or fictionkin, but those who are rping, delusional, or fictionkin can interact. please do not call me delusional / psychotic, as this can cause me to doubt my own experiences and reality, which can send me into psychosis.)
im gonna take an energy cleansing shower later and then try and communicate with kyubey / an incubator willing to talk to me !! :D im gonna write down a list of questions i have for kyubey / the incubator.
before i do this though, do any puella magi's / more experienced pop culture pagans have any advice for confirming whether the being you're talking to is kyubey / a real / trustworthy incubator ? any specific questions i should ask ? any warning signs / red flags i should be aware of that signal that i'm not actually speaking with kyubey / a real and/or trustworthy incubator ?
also, i plan on using a pendulum and tarot to communicate with kyubey / the incubator, but are there any better methods / methods that kyubey / incubators prefer ? and is there anything i should do before trying to speak with them (a ritual, offering, etc) ?
any and all advice is super appreciated !!! tysm :D
