It’s funny just a few months ago I was like “I don’t think I can read WIPs I don’t know how I would handle waiting.” And now I’m having trouble reading completed works like all I read are WIPs lately

One thing that will never fail to amaze me about reading fics of the same pairing over and over and over again is how of course there are certain expected lines and tropes,

(People always talk about him going from calling her “Granger” to calling her “Hermione,” but I think an underrated one is “Oh, back to Malfoy now, am I?” I clutch my pearls every time.)

But even beyond that there are just so many unique things in each fic. Like I am forever amazed how one relationship can be analyzed and overanalyzed and there are still so many new ways to compare these characters with others in canon or even in other literature. Like of course she and Ron are gonna break up but writers are still able to make the break up feel unique to the context of each story. Idk I guess what I’m trying to say is it’s just mind blowing how fan fiction has existed for years and there are still so many original ideas. Or ideas that feel original at least. Obviously these aren’t original characters and so many popular fics pull from other works of media. But idk the babies they create feel so fresh and new.

Every once in a while, I really want to read Drarry but I’m always worried that then there will be Ronmione in the background and I just can’t handle it.

Like in All You Want by Senlinyu when she and Draco agree to have casual sex and in her thoughts, she’s like, “Should we make a schedule? That’s casual and fun.” I love it idk.

Back at it again with Dramione rants but I’m reading She Whom He Harbors and I genuinely cannot deal with how obsessed I am with this fic. I normally wouldn’t be soo into a fic that’s this smut-heavy but it’s honestly soooo good. Like I’m so obsessed with the writing and this plot that has me clutching my pearls constantly. And another thing that I think has me incredibly hooked is that usually when fics are this far postwar, Draco is either redeemed or trying to be redeemed. However…..this Draco……is kind of a toxic menace and I’m livingggggggg for it!

It’s so funny how reading Harry Potter fanfic has given me so much more knowledge about the lore than just reading the books. I’m sure I’m not the only person who’s brought this up but it’s new information to me so I’m sharing it lol.

But one thing that’s crazy to me is that canonically, Hermione has a wand with a dragon heartstring core, which is a wand core that turns easily to the Dark Arts. Of course that doesn’t mean she’s necessarily a baddie but it does imply that she’s capable of it. Meanwhile, Draco canonically has a wand with a unicorn hair core, which doesn’t easily turn to the Dark Arts. Which I feel implies that he’s capable of being good. Or at the very least, he wouldn’t likely be a baddie without outside intervention which…..there’s plenty of that in his life. It makes sense that they could meet in the middle, in the grey.

Idk it’s just interesting to think about when reading Dramione. Like those little details imply that Hermione has capabilities to be darker and Malfoy has capabilities to be lighter. And like…….Miss R*wling wrote that herself it’s not fanon. Every time I see people hating on Dramione I can’t help but be like, it’s genuinely not that crazy. Most fanfics don’t even have to stretch too far from canon to make the romance work. Idk, I just feel very strongly about this pairing and I hate when people are rude about disliking it.

Lol I’m reading The Darkwood Wand by ThebeMoon and this line is so funny to me:

“[Draco] was about to do a good deed, which in his experience rarely turned out well. Not that he’d done many good deeds; his shining moments during the war were when he refrained from doing bad deeds, or at least performed the bad deeds unenthusiastically.”

It’s just very funny to imagine Draco having that level of self awareness. Like yep, that is exactly your appeal and those are your shining moments but when you put it that way I feel like a fool lmao.

I’m back with more late night dramione fan fiction rants. So I finished Bending Light by scullymurphy and immediately went into Falling Dark (the sequel) and I’m sooooo emotional like holy crap.

The way Bending Light felt so beautiful and picturesque. Like I get emotional thinking about these child soldiers getting to enjoy a summer of being normal, silly teenagers in a beautiful setting. But then they also can’t even properly chillax because they know they gotta go back to being child soldiers soon like uggghhh. It just hits so well.

And now Falling Dark!!!! The way scullymurphy slapped me in the face with this. I swear I wanna dive into this screen and physically fight Draco for being such a doo doo head like if you don’t stop playing with my girly!!! And just ugh the entanglements are so entangled like omg I keep having to pause to screech like it’s that serious to me. But also I’m obsessed, like, the drama is peak. I know it’s tagged as a happy ending but I just have no clue what could possibly happen to make all of this feel happy at the end like. And I’m not even halfway into it, that’s what’s getting me, like what more do I have to go through??? I’m stressed!!!! (But in a good way). Also I’m so obsessed with Lavender in this series like when she said “I think I need to breathe into a paper bag” I FELT that

I’m reading Green Light by SereneMusafir and I’m genuinely so gagged at what an emotional journey I’m going through. Like I know that there’s no way it’s gonna be a happy ending and knowing that the two of them know that they won’t get a happy ending like I’m siiiick. I’m still only on part one but I’m nearing the end of it and I just can’t stop pausing to reflect on how stressed I am for how this is going to go. Like I know Draco feels me when I say I don’t wanna ever hear about this fool John ever again in my life like Hermione nooooooo.

I feel like it’s extra painful cause I recently saw someone say that it’s nice reading fics with the same pairing over and over cause it’s like they’re soulmates that find each other in any universe. And I’m finding that I’m genuinely overwhelmed by the possibility that there’s a universe that they don’t end up together. I guess that doesn’t mean they aren’t soulmates but that’s so much worse.

Also I keep trying to tell myself that I don’t know for a fact that it’s not a happy ending aside from the fact that hea is blatantly not in the tags lol. Also just because part two is based on great gatsby doesn’t mean it’ll end the same idk. I’m just keeping myself delulu and ignoring the repeating story of Orpheus and Eurydice thank you very much. And sure we find out in the very beginning that Hermione is in New York but that doesn’t necessarily mean what I think it means 🥲
