Just Want To Point Out To All The People Saying That Zelda Would Never Have Kids That Her Bloodline Quite

Just want to point out to all the people saying that Zelda would never have kids that her bloodline quite literally needs to continue. Her family are genuinely the only people with the sealing power needed to fight off Ganon whenever he attacks the world.

It’s definitely a pretty fucked up responsibility, but that’s sort of the theme of the franchise as a whole. Link, Zelda and to a certain extent even Ganondorf are all victims of this constant, never ending cycle that they’re all stuck in.

Until Demise/Ganon is finally stopped Hylia/Zelda’s bloodline needs to continue, and the hero/Link's soul is going to keep getting recycled.

One thing that I really like about elden ring is how devoid of anything noteworthy our character is because it opens up a lot of opportunities to make the character truly my own. Too many times in games like this, where you’re expected to project a personality onto a character the developers also muddy that character with a predetermined story or personality, and you end up with a really awkward mix of too little personality so it's hard to be invested in the character but just enough personality that it makes it hard to project something onto the character. Elden ring (and by extension the rest of soulsborne) doesn't do this. Your character is a completely blank slate outside of the many class origins you can pick for it and it’s up to you to determine who they are, what their past is and what they want.

I think the endings of elden ring and how loose the story is also helps with this since they’re all ideology based. Is your character a noble fighter looking to grow powerful and lead the lands between? Well then you’ve got the normal ending where you become elden lord. But what if your character is disillusioned with the gods and wants to be rid of their rule? Well then you can team up with Ranni and bring about the age of stars, removing them all together. What if you’re character's just a murder hobo that wants to kill and destroy everything in their path? Lord of frenzied flame is great for them then.

There’s so much personality you can put into these characters and it really shows with how much fan work has come out of the characters people have made for their playthroughs. It's really the first time I've actually liked having a blank slate protagonist.

Absolutely bewildered that people think Kris is a parallel for Frisk and not Chara because like

First adoptive child of the Dreemurs

Close in age to Asriel

Constantly covers their face with their hair like Chara did

Has a deep love for their family/monsters in general

Very loyal/self sacrificial

Loves chocolate

Scares people for fun

Has an affinity for/carries around a knife

Has some emotional issues going on

Like hello? They’re almost 1 to 1 the same characteristically except for a few details that can be explained by the differences in the timelines.

btw I'm calling it now that those eye markings that Melina and Ranni have are actually marks of empyreans. (which would also make Melina herself one aswell.)

I just think it's slightly too suspect that we never see the full face of a living empyrean in the game.

Marika has her eyes covered in the intro and is missing one half of her face in the ending (the perfect place for an eye marking to have been without leaving any evidence)

Malenia's upper face has been affected by the rot and thus no eye marking would be visible.

Miquella's face is also never properly shown in game. Even in the shadow of the erdtree teaser it is kept out of shot of the camera.

And while Ranni does have an eye marking on her puppet body, we have no idea what her original one might have had, as it's been burnt beyond recognition and no depictions of living Ranni exist in game.

Even if it isn't the eye marking, there's been a very deliberate choice to keep empyrean's faces hidden throughout the game and I feel like it means something.

oh... the butterfly that Kinger's trying to catch on the tote bag is brown and red huh?

Oh... The Butterfly That Kinger's Trying To Catch On The Tote Bag Is Brown And Red Huh?

I uh... wonder why that could be.

There is one more thing I’d like to add to this theory.

In the chapel of anticipation, if you’re skilled enough to strike down the grafted Scion, you can actually avoid being killed by it and chucked over the side of the island. Now why is this important?

Because if you do manage to do this, then you can progress slightly further into the area, where a lone set of butterflies will likely lead you to your fall, where things continue as normal.

Specifically a set of Nascent butterflies.

There Is One More Thing I’d Like To Add To This Theory.

The butterfly that represents Miquella and by extension, St. Trina.

Right there at the start of our journey.

To guide us towards Torrent.

To guide us towards Trina.

St. Trina's chosen

Thinking about how St. Trina only talks to the player tarnished despite Thiollier's undying loyalty to her.

Thinking about how before traveling with Melina, Torrent belonged to Miquella (and by extension, also Trina)

Thinking about how at some point Torrent was sent out in search of a new master

Thinking about how Ranni's doll body requires her to sleep

Thinking about how St. Trina can visit people in their dreams

Thinking about how “torrent’s former master” asked Ranni to deliver the spirit tuning bell to whoever he chose to serve next

-

Did St. Trina put everything in motion? Was she the one who set Torrent out on his search for a new master? Was she the one who asked Ranni to give us the spirit tuning bell? Could it have been one final, desperate plea to find anyone capable of stopping her other half before it was too late for him? Does St. Trina only commune with us because she knows that we're the one who Torrent chose as his new master? Is that why this character, that we never meet before now seemingly has full faith in requesting our aid? because her trusted steed was the one to bring us to her? From the very moment Torrent found us washed up in the lands between, were we destined to find our way to Miquella's/St. Trina's path?

My take on the promised consort.

I believe that Radahn held the stars in place when Ranni began fearing her fate. She never wanted to become a puppet to the two fingers, and Radahn knowing this attempted to hold off her destiny for as long as possible. Though he likely knew that it would be an inevitability. The only other two living empyreans were cursed afterall.

There was no way that Miquella or Malenia would be able to take Marika’s place, the two fingers weren’t even the slightest bit interested in either of them. Malenia was already claimed by the God of Rot and Miquella was perpetually in a state of adolescence. Ranni seems to be the only one who was ever actively bothered by her fingers and I believe this is because they had an intense desire for her to be the next god, assuming Miquella and Malenia as lost causes due to their curse.

I think this is when Miquella came to Radahn with a proposition. He will be seeking godhood. Even if the two fingers had no interest in him, even if the world thought him too small and frail to ascend, he was going to find a way, no matter the consequences. He was determined to become the next God and lead the world into an era of abundance and peace. To fix the mistakes of the past.

He only had one simple request.

“Promise me, you’ll be my consort.”

If Miquella were to ascend then Ranni would be free of her duty. She’d be able to live in peace knowing that she’d never have to be controlled by another's will. She wouldn’t have to become a god, she wouldn’t have to succeed queen Marika. And to top it all off, Radahn would get to play the role of his hero Godfrey. Ushering in a new era alongside a new god.

It was perfect.

That was, until the night of the black knives. The night the world was thrown into chaos. The night that the first demigods fell. And the night that he lost his sister.

Radahn likely wouldn’t have known about Ranni’s plot and would have thought her dead alongside the other victims of the night. Ranni was gone, and with her, so too was Radahns need for Miquella’s age.

I believe Radahn, fueled by grief, rage and the mad taint of his greatrune, denounced Miquella and struck out on his own as a warrior of the shattering. He didn’t need peace, he didn’t need Miquella. All he wanted was to fight. All he wanted now was endless war.

Maybe that would be enough to dull the pain of his loss? Not only the loss of his sibling and father, but also the loss of his purpose.

-

Now picture Miquella. Making the final preparations to begin his ascension. Only there’s one problem. His consort has abandoned him at the very last moment. As it turns out, it seems Radahn never really cared for Miquella or his visions for a new age, he was only really in it for his own gain.

Imagine how devastated Miquella would be. Knowing that yet another one of his plans had fallen apart at the finish line. That the person he trusted to rule alongside him didn’t even hesitate to abandon him when it was no longer convenient for him.

His ascension to godhood would never happen. He would never be able to heal his sister. He would never be able to bring forth an age of compassion. He would never be able to right the wrongs of the past.

He had failed again.

Now imagine how furious this would make his people. How angry his followers and his sister would be to see Miquella rejected at such a pivotal moment. To see him mourning a consortship and an age that would never come to pass.

Is there really any wonder that they chose to march towards Caelid and deliver the promised consort by force?

Do they really have that of different goals? As far as I'm aware the only goals we know the GEQ had were to "raise apostles to slay the gods" and presumably to keep destined death unbound. This aligns pretty neatly with Melina's goals for us to take on the demi-gods and later to unbind destined death.

The similarities between them are even stronger in the FF route, where she threatens to come after us with the GEQ's own power (destined death). Following in her footsteps as a GEQ waring with a god. If she's not already the GEQ in some shape or form (either via the art of rebirth or her being created from what was left of the previous GEQ) then I do believe that she at least claims that title by the end of FF.

Out of curiosity, what are the major rebuttals to the "Melina = GEQ" theory?

Because honestly, the more I think about it the more it just makes perfect sense for her to be the GEQ, and I can't really think of any counter arguments that are all too convincing for me.

Assuming this isn’t sarcasm here we go (also some spoilers)

There’s not really a lot of lore on torrent. All we really know is that he’s a spirit mount that we can summon with the golden whistle ring, much like we can summon normal spirit ash’s with the spirit calling bell. Both of these items seem to reanimate the dead in a sort of 'spirit state', with the whistle we summon a spirit to ride and with the bell we can summon spirits to fight with us. Both of these things are possible because death isn’t really a thing in the lands between anymore. This is because the 'rune of death' was removed from the elden ring, which essentially removed the concept of death from the world itself. (the elden ring seems to control the laws of reality and said laws can be messed with or altered by taking away or adding different things to the ring). Torrent just sort of poofs when he gets hurt and can be resummoned at will because he isn’t alive in the first place and thus cannot be permanently destroyed.

The Erdtree’s a little trickier to explain but if you’re interested I can go into it.

Elden Ring lore, huh?

I mean I can just say a bunch random words with 'the' in front of them, too.

A lot of games get accused of having world building that really doesn't matter to gameplay. Elden Ring feels like a dare to see how far you can take that.

I still don't know why you can summon an antelope to ride on that can't die but just disappears if someone hits it, and then there is a cool-down period before you can bring it back. And what does that have to do with the giant LED tree?

Who made all of these barrels and boxes? Because this world seems to only have monsters and guys who kill monsters in it.

Please reblog this explaining everything to me. I'm sure it will suddenly be not a bunch of whatever nonsense when YOU type it.

It's so unfair that they dropped Nightreign halfway through the game awards because there was no way I'd be able to pay attention to the rest of the show after that reveal 😭😭😭

From the moment the trailer dropped my memory of everything afterwards becomes more and more of a blur.
