somewhat unhinged duolingo owl is what i live for š
oh, in spite of how i've been feeling and thinking recently, i am actually grateful for may.
last month, i made my resignation at wok official and this month will be my last month with them. my reasons include both personal and career-related ones, though the personal ones weigh so much more. it feels freeing, though quite emotional having to leave people i've made friends with at work, and my students, too. i don't think i'll ever be "good with goodbyes". ( ⢠ᓠ⢠t )
i'm also grateful for getting the chance to watch one of my favourite japanese bands perform live at the start of the month! radwimps just left the country a few days ago, and i'm still on a high thinking about the concert, rewatching the short clips i managed to record while immersing myself to their songs, and playing their asia setlist on repeat in spotify. i remember writing it on my original bucket list that i wanted to see one of my favourite japanese bands in a concert so for it to actually happen feels awesome! \\\(Ū¶ā¢Ģį“ā¢Ģ)Ū¶//ļ¼ļ¼

Prompt (if you want): In what way are you grateful for May?
i havenāt been religiously keeping up with some of the usual shows i diligently kept up during the qorldwide quarantine, but with how efficient my new workplace is with time management for everyone in the faculty, iāve been able to get back to keeping up with shows that i enjoy watching! here are just a few of them:
tiny house nation (netflix) - while i donāt think iād be able to live in a tiny house because i love the space, it inspires me to rethink about my spending habits when it comes to clothes, accessories, and even what i would consider as essential that arenāt really essential to my lifestyle if i think hard about it. i can only imagine the dread of plowing through an obscene amount of stuff (which we have a lot now at home sadly) when itās time to dispose of them. i guess iām grateful that it helps curb my spending habits while tickling my design-loving brain. (ą„ Ā“Ķ įµ `Ķ ą„ )ą„
barbecue showdown (netflix) - itās that one series i like going back to because most of the contestants are likable and each batch of contenders get better every season, and because i like watching people prepae and cook food, which inspires me to try cooking when i have the time and resources. i like learning techniques and cooking terms whenever the hosts or even the contestants get technical. iām grateful that in spite of it being a netflix series, the people and events are not sensationalized as most reality TV shows are directed. the people in the competition donāt feel like characters, but actual people, and i love barbecue showdown for that!
cara nicoleās youtube channel - itās not really a tv show, but out of all the videos i watch regularly recently, hers is one of my favourites, and actually something that i enjoy and look forward to watching and listening to because of the concise but meaty video essays she uploads about mindful consumption and sustainability. iām truly grateful that thereās someone like her who could make me understand topics that iāve always found confusing even if it has been explained to me several times already.

Prompt (if you want): What recent movie/tv show are you grateful for?
for genshin, it has to be wriothesley because iām not known (by my friends and even family, i mean) for having great interest over manly and muscular men, but as cringe and maybe tmi? as this will sound, this 2D man āØawakened⨠something. like i hear rihannaās only girl (in the world) in my head when i see him on my screen. his character and personality endeared him even more, which propelled him to the third spot of my favourite genshin husbands (my top 1 is kaveh, and my top 2 is thoma).
as for star rail, itās sampo koski. normally i donāt like it when iām confused by someone, but sampo is an exception, and i will not deny that a huge chunk of why is because i actually like the way he looks and how goofy he is. yk, as a simple girl, i see someone with a face i like in whatever media iām consuming, he becomes a candidate in my husband collection.
in anime and manga, i think the most that sticks out like a sore thumb in my husband collection is levi ackerman simply because i donāt usually like the popular characters, but heās such a well-written one that you canāt help but root for him and pick him as a favourite. some may think heās a little overrated, popularity-wise, but i guess he is for a reason.
Whoās the āoddā one in your blorbo mansion?
Like the one where all your favs are like āgirl why is HE here?ā And youāre just like āidk I think heās neatā¦ā
i want to make this kaveh goes around teyvat thing a regular on this tumblog because i really, really adore kaveh, and there are so many well-rendered places in genshin hihihi.
here he is, somewhere underground in the vast desert of sumeru, where a door, speculated to be the door leading to khaenriāah, sits deserted and sealed (for now).
reuploaded my timely kaveh fanart because i wasnāt happy with the quality earlier, though this also needs some work post-processing wise (i will say it looks closer to how it looks like irl). anyway, happy birthday kaveh, the best husband āØ
2022 wrap up collage | 2023
normally i draw my wrap up journal entries, but during this time, i was still recovering from covid (i never want to get sick of it again), and had little energy to spare to make my usual year end illustration. during this time, too, i was in my trying to dabble in collage era, so i figured to do one for a change, and to keep up with the wrap up tradition as well.
the spread is from an old A5-sized notebook, and the papers and some of the stickers i used were mostly second-hand craft materials gifted to me by one of my friends at work. i tried my best to utilize the quote stickers to capture the recurring thoughts and feelings i've had the past year. it's quite a challenge considering most of them didn't really make sense, but that also worked for me as it embodied the chaos i found myself in (intentionally and unintentionally š)
some of kemerootās outdoor baths by the beach featuring different kinds of baths and a couple showers, too! i kind of want to make another outdoor baths area in kemeroot thatās inspired by the visuals of watatsumi island (mermaid set is one of the prettiest furniture sets we have in acnh), but iāll finish working on cleaning up my island from the influx of flowers last few days because itās been raining nonstop (almost) in the game.
in the middle of running around kemeroot, i spotted these two chilling at the plaza, and itās just so precious (TvT )
i try to be grateful for many things, but the most grateful iāll always be is for my hands. as an artist, my hands are definitely something i canāt (and donāt want to) live without. my mind conjures, and my hand creates. it is with my hands that iām able to keep dabbling and rekindling my love for art making.
(kind of a shameless plug about some of the things iāve done, but who else should celebrate my works but myself, right? right! ā”ą„¢āāøāøĢ£Ź·Ģ£Ģ«āøĢ£āøā)
another H that i am grateful for is my friend, whom iāve kept in touch with regularly since i left one of my previous workplaces. not a lot of my friends have witnessed my most depressive state (and honestly, i wouldnāt be comfortable with most of my friends seeing me in that state since i know not all of them can fully grasp or even have the headspace to try to see things from my side just because of differences in our stages of life), but this friend has seen it, and still chose to remain a friend up until now that iām beginning to heal from my previous season. iāll always be grateful for her presence, support, and friendship, and iām glad our paths ever crossed.
whenever our schedules aligned and we have time to meet up, we catch up over food, drinks, and art.

Prompt (if you want): Show gratitude for something that starts with the letter H.
now that iām back in my childhood home, iād like to say that after living in an apartment for rent, iāve grown to appreciate my room since my teenage years because as much as i love reconnecting and seeing my friends from time to time, it provides the one quiet space i need when i badly need to recharge (as an introvert, and as a type 5 used to navigating life by myself mostly). i hope to keep this for as long as i can until i move out again (if thereās a need to move out again) because having that āØone safe haven⨠is an underrated privilege that not a lot of people have.
(i do wish that for those who donāt have a place in their house where they feel the safest, youāll be able to look for a space that you can truly treasure and make a safe haven out of.)
