The current mood
Now, planning my own post-game narrative without the structure of the game as a guide may be tricky to make complete and satisfying but, honestly, I am just so glad to be out of realm of writing Act 3 that I barely even feel it.
Act 3 is definitely my least favourite in a lot of ways, especially when it comes to trying to make a narrative out of it. There's so much going on that it just feels impossible to cover it all, so I had to resort to time skips and just covering the bits that'll be relevant later for my own sanity, but then it felt like I was glossing over things and worrying that would make everything feel all disjointed and, ugh.
And act 3 is so loud as well, I got so overstimulated all the time, there's all these people endlessly milling about everywhere and everyone's talking constantly - and those bloody magicians outside Sorcerous Sundries, oh my god, don't even get me started. That's probably why I like Act 2 so much, come to think of it. It's nice and dark and quiet out there, there's no one around but you and your friends unless you intentionally go to a population centre like Last Light. I find it very soothing for an area that was definitely intended to be horrific.
So, yeah, glad to be out of there.
Anyway, back to planning.
Chapter 5 is out- (Oh, baby it's) Flesh-eaters(!)
I did so want to go with the full silly title, but as I was finalising it, it began to feel a bit disrespectful, considering the... contents.
Yes, plenty of classic More Graves' trademark self-berating monologues in this one, folks, if that's what you're into!
And we’re off! Next story is up on AO3, and updates should come at least once every ten days as with previous (I just realised I’m working off a tenday-based schedule, this was not intentional), and I will try to post here in case of a delay.
I made Klearrhishkminal in the game for fun a while ago, so I thought I ought to share her so you could all see why Turmeric was (and still is) so enamored with her. I mean, look at her, she's gorgeous!
She's a pretty important character for someone who's literally been dead the whole time- or at least, I like to think so, I hope that impression comes across. She is the entire reason for Turmeric, well, being called Turmeric for starters.
As a reminder, she is bronze and definitely not brass - if you think you've ever seen me describe her (or Ansur!) as that because they're similar words and I forgot to check and got confused, no you didn't, that never happened. Because then Turmeric's whole character quirk of having a fondness for lightning spells because her last girlfriend had lightning breath wouldn't make sense and nobody would pick up on it! (I do hope some people have picked up on that, it's a subtle little thing, but it's there. (because we carry those we love with us, long after they're gone, after all))
you have a wound that will never heal? me too! actually it's gradually widening and expanding, consuming more of me with each passing day [props my chin in my hands and smiles at you] at what point do you think i'll become the wound itself and not simply the bearer?
homesickness
truly cannot state enough how much i enjoy how the characters in bg3 look like they’re Actual Adult people. i go wild about it. i’ve never been hornier. cannot empathize with the people who complain about the lines and wrinkles
Orin baldursgate is conceptually the funniest character of all time on account of simultaneously being a changeling whose whole thing is SHE COULD BE ANYONE AT ANY TIME who also she cannot refrain for more than 45 seconds from monologuing about getting into someone’s thoracic cavity with her teeth and lovingly tearing all the heart-muscle to pearly pink ribbons
I was typing the word Australia earlier but halfway through my mind shut off and I realised I'd typed Austarion.
The brain worms are real.
I write BG3 fanfic about having a bad time and learning to carry on anyway! It's good fun! And also devastating!
