That was something that needed to be said.
some fanfics shouldn’t even be called fanfics that shit is classic ass literature
A feature of English which I think is stupid,
If we’re carrying on with this game,
Is how we abolished the thorn and replaced it,
With two letters that meant the same.
The þ was a letter, amazing, astounding,
Perfect in every respect,
Representing the ‘th’ sound and shortening words,
The one thing it didn’t expect;
One day T and H went and burgled its meaning,
And then, thanks to the printing press,
Its symbol mutated and morphed into Y,
Which is pointless, I must confess.
Þoughtlessly, the þ was forgotten,
Þreatened as the language evolved,
Þankful for þose who knew of old English,
A topic where it was involved.
It only survived in Modern Icelandic,
In English it’s treated with scorn,
And as barely anyone knows it exists,
Please try to remember the thorn.
The volume of your voice does not increase the validity of your argument.

Chapter 2
It had been a normal day for Michelle, until she found the Russian giant on the sands of her favourite beach.
Now, Seychelles had not had the quietest upbringing. Her history, especially after her independence, was dominated by coup after failed coup, more a spectacular mess than anything else. Not surprising, really, considering who her parents were. But, also being who they were, there had been lessons - dozens of boring, boring lessons - on, apparently, How To Survive ( it was more, she thought, How to Best Pick Fights and Not Make Friends, but meh. Europeans.) She’d been given a handbook too, underlined and highlighted, with stapled-in pages no less dog-eared that the rest, probably something passed down among her various pseudo-siblings, but that was besides the point. The point was, Seychelles did not follow most of the rules, but some she did, if only to be particularly safe.
So, naturally, the last thing she was expecting was to run into one of the countries on the ‘Avoid At All Cost’ list, lying on her beach, not realising that he was well on his way to getting very nicely sunburnt.

fanfic: fUCK YOU
Follows on from this one. Still AU, still pretty aimless, more fruk than maple tea because this one’s from Arthur’s POV and Arthur likes to think rude things about his fiancée and needs smacking with a cluebat before he realises people actually might like him.
Marianne is sick. It’s naught but a summer cold, for all the wretched woman will carry on like all her tomorrows are meant for the next life, a grand excuse for the princess to lie in state in her chambers and have seemingly all of Wessex call upon her there to offer her their respects.
Arthur snarls at what looks like half his Court outside Marianne’s rooms when he goes to do his duty one morning and inquire after the health of his beloved bride-to-be – and they scatter, hastily parting like the waves to let the prince through to Marianne’s door. They don’t leave though, not until Arthur rather pointedly puts his hands on his hips and stares the lot of them down, and even then they depart grudgingly, edging off into the shadows with sulky reluctance.
Whilst politically advantageous, Marianne’s obvious popularity at Court is beginning to grate on Arthur’s nerves. Just a little bit.
A very, very little bit.
God damn the woman.

Have you ever experienced the joys of producing something so magnificent, so utterly beautiful, or magical, and yet the journey to get to that point was filled with such a rollercoaster of emotions that you may or may not wish to attempt such a fate again? Such dealings always begin with the happiest of emotions, maybe in the heat of the moment when passions run high and swift to capture the heart then suddenly those sentiments cool, even just a tad, leaving the bearer despondent that somehow, they had misjudged the narrative of actions. But just as quickly as those concerns flood the mind, the bearer is taken again into the throes of an ardent love affair, recaptured by beautiful prose, and ready to ride this wave of ecstasy as far it would take them.
Be forewarned that while the idea of creation may be very attractive indeed, the journey produced by such an incident could lead one to many days or weeks of discomfort, followed by months of painstaking planning, and execution. It is a laborious condition, you may scream and cry, you may laugh and shed more tears, the pain may be excruciating at times, and then fizzle away once you’ve made a break through and birth new life where once one never existed.
If those aspects appear as ones you could live with then by all means I’d encourage you to jump right in because the end result will be one of the most satisfying accomplishments of your life but if something was to go wrong, it could also break your heart in two. Fears of acceptance, judgments over your handiwork, is it beautiful or is it ugly, a masterpiece of conception or flawed from the moment it was given consideration? Will it fit into the framework of your genus or become an outcast with a dead lineage? So many trepidations to consider, but again, if the perfect outcome is a possibility, the consummation and fulfillment of a life-long dream attainable, maybe momentary pains are not so much a hindrance to writing a brilliant novel.
To all those tireless writers who battle through research, writers block, and sleepless nights. New writers to seasoned veterans, occasional writers to non-stop. Shorts to novels. From concept to completion you make us laugh and cry. Who fill in plot holes left by canon, or take us to new worlds we never knew possible. We love you and Thank you for doing what you do!

Hello! Catch-up vocabulary number 1 is for Week 5! I’m writing out week 6 as soon as I’m done typing this so I’ll probably queue it up for tomorrow. Week 7 will come after the Kanji for weeks 3 and 4, then we’ll work on getting caught up on Kanji! I also haven’t done any practice exercises that I would post here in a while, so maybe we’ll get to some of those once we’re caught up!
