When I was a kid I played soccer without my hearing aids. I really did't have a clue until my third year and my coach got so frustrated during a game that he started yelling and swearing at me. I finally got good, probably because I could hear what he was saying. I cannot imagine playing at this level and this well. I very much admire them.

As a person who relies on lip-reading more often than not, I think this is so important. Every person, hearing or deaf, should experience and appreciate the beauty and power of human connection, whether you see it, feel it, or hear it.

Earlier today I got to watch Basil's guardian instincts kick in.
