“Sleep prints, you say?” he says in nothing more than a whisper. Maverick barely catches the murmur, watching Iceman’s lips move as he speaks. Iceman’s hand slots against his face, holding Maverick’s chin between his thumb and index, the rest of his fingers grazing his neck. Iceman’s thumb rubs his cheek in slow, circling motions, and Maverick momentarily forgets how to breathe. Iceman’s gaze is intense, and this whole ordeal should feel awkward, but Maverick can’t find it in himself to tear his eyes off Iceman. Iceman leans closer still, faces mere inches away from each other. If Maverick focuses on it hard enough, he can pretend that he’s not breathing in the same air as Iceman. He can pretend that he isn’t taking in the smell of Iceman’s cologne, or that he doesn’t feel the texture of Iceman’s hands against his cheeks, rough from too many hours in the cockpit yet warm and pleasant against his skin. “I don’t see any.”

Its 2004...Mav and the flyboys getting drunk asf at his bachelor party. Slider gets called to bail their asses out, who is at Ice's stag right across town. He goes, takes a picture of them looking shitfaced and is sworn to secrecy to never tell Ice about the actual reason they got arrested. Slider agrees.

Fast forward to 2022—post tgm mission. Mav wakes up in the hospital, dazed but alive! Ice is sitting at his bedside: annoyed, relieved, yelling at him…kissing him. Tells Mav he’s grounded and rants about how he can’t believe Pete is almost 60 and still is “trouble walking.”

Mav, groggy and trying to be cute, mumbles, “I’m not trouble.”

Ice just pulls out the photo. "You want to try that again, Mitchell?"

Slider is a liar who lies.

Slider would guess Ice has a crush on Mav without Ice telling him

And he wouldn't tell anyone he knows, not even Ice (just a few smirks to Ice when it gets too obvious but Ice doesn't understand so he just frowns at Slider)

And maybe, during one tipsy evening between RIOs, at the bar, Goose tells Slider the crush Mav has on Ice (without meaning to) and Slider goes like : "Really ? I mean Ice too."

Then Goose be like : "No way dude, the Iceman sends Mav death stares."

Slider looks at Goose funny, smirking after drinking one sip of the whisky he was nursing : "He was an abuse child."

Then Goose laugh and Slider continues : "And it's Mr. Iceman for you Mother Goose."

Maverick would tell Goose he has a crush on Ice but Ice would not tell Slider he has a crush on Mav
