One thing I noticed in the alterhuman community is that most of us use names that relate a lot to our theriotypes. I'm Watcher because I'm a cat, @talon-dragonbeast is Talon because she's a dragon, @harpyrex is a Harpy... You understand what I mean, right? However, I've been wondering if irl names that creatures here use are related to their therianthropy. I'm guessing no, but I don't really know.

So, regarding your irl name, how much does this name relate to your theriotype/s? I'm talking about legal name, or the one you use the most with friends or family if you're trans, or nicknames. (DON'T TELL ME YOUR IRL NAME IF YOU DON'T WANT TO). If your irl name doesn't relate to your theriotype/kintype, would you legally change it to one more keen to your theriotype? Below is a poll you can answer with this question.

For example, my legal name is my deadname because my parents are transphobic and won't let me change my name. However, in college and with everyone irl who is not my family, I use another name. This name is gender neutral/masculine because I'm non binary, I use he/they pronouns irl, and it looks like a dog name. Tho I was not aware of this when I chose it, because I was fifteen and I didn't know I was alterhuman, this nane looks like a dog name. Which I'm really happy about.

I was wondering if others do what I did. Is your irl name (it doesn't matter if it's legal name, but the one you use the most) like a name that your theriotype/s would have? Would you change it legally for a more nonhuman name?

a traditional drawing with pen and paper. in the center is a person in profile, with short curly hair and a neutral expression. around them, above their head and behind them are squares with borders of three different colors: blue, green and red. in the blue-bordered squares, you can see the snout and horns of a western dragon, placed over its equivalent on the human body (the snout behind the mouth, the horns over the hair). in the green-bordered squares you can see depicted an enderman, a humanoid creature with dark skin and large ears. of the enderman you can see part of the mouth above the human jaw and the ear and part of the skull at the back of the head. in the red bordered squares are drawn the horn, the snout and the mane of a unicorn, each in their respective places on the human body (the horn on the forehead, the snout under the jaw and the mane at the back). behind the colored squares are black squares in which there is no creature represented, but they are simply colored black.

I know I'm made of clay that's worn / blinded by imperfect form (creature - half•alive)

a drawing i did a few days ago that im extremely proud of. its about nonhumanity of course, about how a person is not their body, but how they see themselves. it represents my three kintypes: dragon, enderman and unicorn, and how phantom shifts can make them overlap sometimes over my physical body.

edit - i based my drawing on this one by @mossymenagerieart! go look at his art its really cool

a small zine laying on a rustic orange and teal quilt. the zine reads, 'the early signs: dog symptoms (that i displayed) (as a puppy) (by forest)'. there is a therian symbol, a triangle with an o in the middle that has a divider down the middle. blue pawprints are drawn in colored pencil in the top right.
page 1 text: 1. was 'the dog' in 'house' play-times (so much my sister got mad at me.) quote: why do YOU get to be the dog all the time?! page 1 art: an orange dog sits next to a girl with a red shirt and her cartoonish house. she looks mad, but the dog looks happy, saying 'yayy'.

page 2 text: 2. was told off for wearing a collar in elementary school. quote: you're going to give off the 'wrong impression', asterisk. the asterisk reads as a bunch of consecutive question marks. page 2 art: a black dog with green collar is nervously trying to placate a woman with a green visor and reddish hair, who looks annoyed.
page 3 text: 3. when i was losing baby teeth, requested to be given things to rip apart to help speed up the process. my dad gave me old clothes to bite + tear. page 3 art: a black dog or fox biting a shirt angrily, growling about it. next to it is the word 'me' with an arrow pointing at the dog. my father in his green cap sits confused in the background.

page 4 text: 4. begged my father for dog toys to chew on. long green squeaky toy. (with accompanying drawing resembling said toy.) big milkbone (never finished but i tried!!!) (accompanied by a drawing of a rawhide bone because i forgot the word for it.) the black dog fox thing gnaws on the rawhide bone, subtitled, (mostly I gnawed on the middle part)
page 5 text: 5. wore a fox tail for a whole semester in high school! the year after, it was popular with the (thin) freshmen (they laughed at me too) (why?? we are alike) page 5 art: a black foxthing showing off its tail.

page 6 text: would 'play' in abandoned cattle fields (mostly warrior cat LARP) and hid in the underbrush and bracken. one time some cows chased me :/ and i sprained my ankle lol page 6 art: a black fox running through yellow grass past some cartoonish black and white cows, which seem mostly unbothered, though the fox is visibly nervous.
a drawing of a black fox with a long head-bang presenting a fancy green collar. the text reads, 'now i have another collar and it rocks! WITH a therian collar tag no less. you wish you were me. (lighthearted.)

my zine, "dog symptoms", about growing up and showing very clear signs of being an animal (with alt text)

unhinged thirty days of otherkin challenge, day 18: how does your kintype feel about chia seeds?

never had 'em. no opinions

day 19: can your kintype knit? if not, could your kintype knit if given instructions?

the fauns cannot and could not. they'll just steal the skeins and make a huge mess. let's hope the yarn is biodegradable!

sleepyhead can't, but could if shown how. they might find it enjoyable, actually.
