favourite sonic headcanon?

I have a certain spin on the 'hedgehog quill hammerspace' headcanon that draws inspiration from the myth that hedgehogs roll around to collect mushrooms and berries and whatnot in their quills; lots of Eastern European art exists, for example, which depicts a hedgehog carrying an obscene amount of things in its quills as a way of gathering food.

My headcanon is that the sonic characters with quills store things by spearing them on their quills, rather than just hiding them in 'pockets' by their head (although I figure it would be a mix of both since some stuff would be 'unspearable', such as a chaos emerald; in that case the surrounding things speared into their quills would be what would hold the emerald).

I keep thinking about who would confess first.

Sonic or shadow? Like I feel like sonic would make it VERY obvious that he has feelings for shadow, but would only actually tell him that he loves him if he's like drunk or something. But I also think that sonic jokingly flirts too much for shadow to take his drunken confessions seriously. 💀

I feel like when shadow has tried to tell him he gets interrupted somehow or just convinces himself that sonic doesn't actually feel the same way. He's confident, but still shy about how he feels about the guy he's supposed to hate.

Awkward gay rivals who are too shy about love to be outright with their feelings about eachother.

But literally everyone else can see it. 💀💀

I like the idea that Sonic can be silent for hours but word vomits when he's nervous or catches the right moment. Shadow is a good listener...at least to people he respects. I HC it's a bad trait of his, walking away or leaving before someones finished talking because obviously he already knows this thing.

I think it's something they would both have to work on. Sonic might even have the opposite issue, never finishing or explaining enough...just running off.

I think over time he'd become fascinated by the strange things people say, given how often sonic just sits and listens to the world around him. At some point his "wtf are you talking about, that's a dumb thing to say" would turn into, "thats a weird thing to say. Why? tell me more. I need to understand everything."

I bet sonic would slap him with a "why do you think he said that? Really? huh." but never explaining, making shadow doubt himself and ask more just to prove he's exploring more perspectives.

Also continues my HC that he's accidentally romantic, despite himself haha. "is he into me?" Who knows, honestly.

It’s so fun to me how harmless shipping is, frankly there’s a lot of possibly problematic ships, but you know what I mean, when you look at the big picture shipping is harmless in a way that is so endearing.
