Look. I know verbalizing is important but Riz is literally canonically asexual and aromantic and he was even before Brennan said it on adventuring party. Like he repeats over and over that he isn't interested in having sex or kissing and that he wants to hang out with his friends and go on adventures instead. That's asexuality! Even if he doesn't say the words "asexual", because he's 16 and allergic to introspection! Like, we knew Kristen was lesbian even before she said it because she was interested in relationships and kissing and sex with women. It's the same with Riz. He very clearly does not experience sexual attraction or desire even before it was said explicitly. And his scene with Baron in the Nightmare Forest suggests that he doesn't feel romantic attraction or desire either because they're saying he's not like his parents who had a romantic relationship as well as sexual. So he's aroace, it's canon. And that's rad as fuck and if you portray Riz as anything other than asexual/aromantic u suck sorry not sorry
On the one hand, Lila joining the Umbrellas is good because she finds people who accept her and can help her move past the Handler and her manipulations
On the other, Lila would be interesting as a morally grey character and works with whoever she needs to achieve her goals, even if that means teaming up with people she doesn't like (like Five for instance), and could make for more tension for both the characters and the audience, and it works well to contrast with Five who frequently does things he doesn't want to do to keep his family safe

A coming out allegory immediately followed by queer solidarity in the form of a pillar boy hug, all in twenty minutes? This show has EVERYTHING

I'm absolutely in love with A Court of Fey and Flowers so far! This is the first time I've been so invested in a regency-genre romance/social story but the characters are so charming, the aesthetic is excellent, and Aabria's GM-ing is captivating
