"Нет большего счастья, чем любовь"

Это альтернативная вселенная, в которой Соник и Салли погибли, и за их детьми (мои оригинальные персонажи: Сэмми и Элли) присматривает молодой изобретатель лис Тейлз, который был ежу как младший брат. На написание этого фанфика меня вдохновил трогательный момент из мультфильма "Как приручить дракона 3", где Старик рассказывал маленькому Иккингу о любви к его матери.

Это была обычная ночь. Стоял конец августа.

На тёмном небе светили звёзды, сияла луна. В лесу было слышно пение сверчков и далёкое уханье одинокой совы, а в воздухе летали маленькими огоньками света светлячки.

Ночное умиротворение природы нарушили чьи-то шуршащие по траве шаги. Они принадлежали одному двухвостому молодому лису.

Его золотистая пушистая шерсть в лунном свете казалась

бледно-золотистой. А лёгкий прохладный ветерок ерошил его шерсть.

Это был Майлз Прауэр, ещё известный для друзей как Тейлз.

Двухвостый лис неспеша шёл к одному знакомому месту, где он хотел побыть в одиночестве. Этим уединённым местом был небольшой утёс, выходящий за пределами леса, и на котором рос одинокий дуб.

Выйдя из леса, лис расположился у корней дерева и посмотрел на небо.

Тейлз обычно любил поработать допоздна в своей мастерской, но в этот раз он решил отдохнуть от своих обычных дел и просто уединиться и поразмышлять о своём.

Он грустно вздохнул. Это место для размышления он выбрал не просто так. Здесь, на этом самом месте, он часто сидел с Соником.

Он помнил, как был очень одинок, пока не встретил синего бегающего со сверхзвуковой скоростью ежа, который стал маленькому двухвостому лисёнку лучшим другом, а позже и любящим старшим братом.

Тейлз и Соник были не разлей вода. Они почти всегда всё делали вместе: веселились, вместе проводили время, сражались со злодеями и спасали мир.

А спустя некоторое время Соник женился на бурундучихе Салли Акорн, которая была лидером отряда Борцов за свободу, борющимся с роботами их злейшего врага, гениального учёного по имени доктор Эггман.

Этот злодей постоянно стремился захватить мир. Но Соник, Тейлз и их друзья всегда мешали ему осуществить свои коварные планы по захвату мира.

И как бы этот злой усатый учёный не злился и не угрожал, Соник с командой всегда его побеждали.

Но в один день злодею таки удалось осуществить один план, последствия которого до сих пор потрясают. Эггман смог убить синего ежа, заманив к себе на базу, но при этом и сам погибнув в этой битве…

Тот день стал самым страшным в жизни Майлза. Он не мог поверить в случившееся, даже когда увидел мёртвое тело его старшего брата. Соник стал очень близок юному лису, был его семьёй, которой так не хватало двухвостому изобретателю, и опорой для него. Но и это было не самое худшее…

Ещё до своей смерти, во время сражения Соник попросил Тейлза об одной услуге:

— Тейлз, если я не смогу вернуться, то пообещай мне, пожалуйста, выполнить мою просьбу. Пожалуйста, присмотри за Сэл и малышами, хорошо? Если тебе будет тяжело, то остальные помогут тебе. Но доверить это, могу я только тебе, Тейлз! Ведь ты крёстный отец для моих детей! Ты обещаешь мне, Тейлз?

— Обещаю, — промолвил тогда ему лис, хотя и хотел добавить: «Зачем ты такое говоришь? Как ты можешь не вернуться? Мы же всегда побеждали злодеев, всегда выходили победителями, почему здесь не сможем? Разве ты не нужен Салли и детям?»

Но ёж умчался за Эггманом, а потом он погиб, забрав с собой и жизнь заклятого врага.

Неизвестно, знал ли Соник, что это была его последняя битва с врагом, либо же просто предполагал, но этого Тейлз теперь не узнает…

Но помимо этого на молодого лиса обрушилась и другая трагедия, произошедшая в этот же день…

У Салли начались преждевременные роды. Её доставили в роддом, врачи пытались спасти её и малышей. И если малюток сумели спасти, то Салли — нет. Она потеряла слишком много крови, да и роды были тяжёлыми.

Близнецы — единственное, что осталось от Соника и Салли. И несмотря на огромное горе, лис старался быть сильным, хотя бы ради малышей, в память о своих друзьях…

От этих мыслей Тейлза отвлёк треск ветки. Обернувшись, он никого не увидел.

— Сэмми, это ты? — задал вопрос лис, хотя и так понял, кто прятался в кустах. В ответ была тишина.

— Давай. Выходи и не прячься. Я же знаю, что это ты, Сэмми.

После его слов из укрытия показался маленький семилетний синий ежонок с коричневыми полосами на иглах и руках. Он смущённо взглянул на Тейлза своими изумрудно-зелёными большими глазами.

— А как ты понял, что это я? — неуверенно спросил малыш.

— Догадался, — усмехнувшись, ответил ему тот. Но затем Тейлз строго посмотрел на него.

— А ты почему не спишь в такой час?

— Мне… Мне просто не спалось… — робко ответил мальчик.

Лис, смягчившись в лице, затем позвал его:

— Давай. Иди сюда.

Сэмми зашагал в сторону лиса и присел рядом.

Едва подул ветерок, как малыш слегка задрожал. У него была короткая шёрстка, которая пока не могла защитить его от холода, тогда Тейлз прикрыл ежонка одним из своих пушистых хвостов, словно тёплым одеялом.

Сэмми взглянул на того с благодарностью, а тот улыбнулся ему, после чего вновь устремил свой взгляд на небо.

Эти двое некоторые время молчали. Но затем тишину прервал Сэмми:

— Эм… Дядя Тейлз?

— Да, Сэмми?

— Скажи… А я… Я и Элли похожи на родителей?

— А? — не понял его Тейлз.

— Ну… Просто ты как-то странно смотришь на меня и сестрёнку, будто кого-то других видишь… Я похож на отца, а Элли — на маму, да?

Тейлз окинул детёныша взглядом.

Сэмми действительно чем-то напоминал лису Соника: такие же иглы, опущенные вниз, те же изумрудно-зелёные глаза, синяя шёрстка. Но в то же время малыш унаследовал и коричневую шёрстку от матери, выделяющуюся на основной синей шерсти в виде полос на иглах и руках, а также кончиках ушей и пушистого короткого хвоста. По сравнению с обычными ежами, Сэмми был не столько колючим, сколько мягким и пушистым на ощупь. А может, его иголки просто ещё не стали острыми?

А сестра близнец Сэмми, Элли, чем-то была похожа на Салли. Она унаследовала от неё синие глаза, основный цвет пушистой шерсти и даже её тёмно-красные волосы в виде чёлки, а от отца ей достались иглы на голове и немного синей шерсти на иглах тоже в виде полос.

Спустя пару минут Тейлз наконец ответил ежонку:

— Ох, извини. Я не думал, что буду вас этим смущать, — с этими словами он смущённо почесал затылок, а после продолжил:

— Да, ты чем-то похож на своего отца, а Элли — на маму. Но к чему этот вопрос?

— Мне просто захотелось узнать, а какими они были, когда… Когда были живы...

— А разве я не рассказывал вам о них?

— Ну, расскажи, пожалуйста, ещё раз.

— Хорошо. Твой отец был очень храбрым ежом. Он был самым быстрым существом в мире. Был очень ловок и силён. А также был большим оптимистом. Бывало, конечно, что он не уместно шутил или действовал, тщательно не обдумав свои действия… Но никто же не идеален, верно? Соник был мне как старший брат, которого я любил и уважал. А Салли была очень хорошим стратегом. Она была умной и красивой. Была прекрасным лидером Борцов за свободу. Её тоже любили и уважали.

— А они погибли в один день, да?

Этот вопрос Тейлз не ожидал услышать. Он не понимал, откуда малыш мог такое услышать. Однако отрицать он не стал, поскольку если мальчику ответить «нет», то тот всё равно откуда-то да узнает ответ. Лучше уж сказать правду…

— Да.

— И я с Элли родились в тот день, когда их не стало?

— Зачем ты это спрашиваешь?

— Просто у меня возникла мысль… Если бы я и сестрёнка не родились, то… То остались бы живы наши родители?

— Что за глупости? Как тебе такая мысль в голову только пришла? — в шоке спросил его Тейлз.

— Ну… Мне приснились мама с папой… Я, Элли и мама с папой были одной счастливой семьёй, но… Но потом они исчезли, и я с Элли остались одни… Мы виноваты в том, что мамы с папой не стало? — после этих слов Сэмми всхлипнул. Тейлз придвинул его поближе к себе.

— Нет, нет! Вы ни в чём не виноваты. Просто… Просто так сложилась судьба… — пытаясь успокоить, прошептал двухвостый лис.

— К тому же… Во сне увидеть исчезнувших родителей — это было так тяжёло… Может, и хорошо, что мы с Элли их не знаем, ведь тогда было бы очень больно… Лучше уж жить, не зная о любви, чем жить с нею… — продолжил малыш, плача.

Тейлз был в ещё большем шоке, услышав такие слова. Он сам, когда был очень маленьким, точно так не размышлял! Он хотел, чтобы его родители были рядом.

К счастью, он встретил Соника, который дал ему семью.

И насколько он сам знал, у Соника так таковой семьи тоже не было… Из родственников у ежа был дядя Чак, который вырастил и воспитал своего племянника.

Но ругать ежонка за такие слова Тейлз не стал, вместо этого, нежно поглаживая его по голове, он сказал:

— Ты думаешь, что жить без любви лучше, чем жить с ней? Увы, но ты ошибаешься, малыш. Жизнь без любви — значит, жизнь без счастья, а жизнь без счастья — жизнь впустую. Я любил твоего отца как брата, который был готов меня и всех нас спасти от любой беды. Его никто не сможет заменить. Но где любовь, там и разлука, Сэмми. Такова жизнь. Поначалу это больно, но со временем понимаешь, оно того стоило, — после сказанного лис подмигнул малышу, уже переставшему в это время плакать, а затем продолжил:

— Поэтому хорошенько запомни, Сэмми: «Нет большего счастья, чем любовь».

— Дядя Тейлз? — робко обратился к нему Сэмми.

— Да?

— Хоть я и Элли не знали родителей, но… Но нам повезло, что у нас есть ты, дядя Тейлз. Ты стал для нас замечательным отцом.

Тейлз был так тронут словами своего подопечного, что аж прослезился. Заметив это, мальчик забеспокоился за своего опекуна:

— Дядя Тейлз, с тобой всё хорошо?

— Да, да. Просто… Просто что-то в глаза попало, вот и всё, — усмехнулся он, вытирая слёзы.

— Точно всё хорошо?

— Да, Сэмми. Всё хорошо. А знаешь что?

— Что?

— Мне повезло, что у меня есть ты и Элли. Вы оба для меня как мои собственные дети, которые сделали одного лиса очень счастливым, — и после этого Тейлз, сгрёб к себе ежонка и взъерошил тому макушку.

— Хехе. Дядя Тейлз! Ну щекотно же! Хехе. Хватит! — засмеялся Сэмми. А когда его отпустили, то малыш прижался к нему.

— Я люблю тебя, дядя Тейлз, — сказал ежонок, а затем сладко засопел.

Тейлз, глядя на спящего подопечного, нежно улыбнулся, после чего он взял его на руки и поцеловал в лоб.

— Я тоже тебя люблю, Сэмми, — прошептал ему лис.

Малыш же продолжал сопеть и прижался к тёплому и такому родному для него лисьему меху.

Лис осторожно встал, дабы не разбудить спящего ребёнка, и направился домой. Но затем он внезапно остановился. Ему показалось, будто кто-то его позвал.

Может, это был просто ветер?

Тем не менее, Тейлз обернулся. И от увиденного он разинул рот.

— Соник? — только и смог произнести он.

Перед его глазами стоял силуэт некоего зеленоглазого ежа. Лунный свет проходил сквозь него, отчего тот казался еле видимым.

Однако по такому знакомому виду, по этому задорному взгляду и этой лучезарной жизнерадостной и весёлой улыбке было бы невозможно не узнать в этом еже Соника. И Тейлз узнал в нём своего лучшего друга.

— Спасибо тебе, Тейлз, — прошептал Соник, на что лис ему кивнул, и затем ёж исчез.

Тейлз постоял ещё несколько минут, но вспомнив о ребёнке, прижимающимся к его груди, он, тихонько усмехнувшись, пошёл домой.
