A trope that gets to me: 'guard dog' character and their partner who are both fully aware of it and honestly don't care/kind of like it. Someone says "call your guard dog off" and their partner does call them off. That person, their 'guard dog', is someone who is unreservedly, irrefutably loyal to them. Someone undoubtedly dangerous who is willing to kill, to maim, to obey, simply because of their love for one another. There's no manipulation involved— it is loyalty, brutal, dogged loyalty. And it goes both ways.

The Lonely Hearts Club has three members. The Lonely Hearts Club is also known as the Christmas Tree Club because you all are pining (Kaminari and Kirishima are huge fans of puns). Outside of Kaminari’s room, you call it the Christmas Tree Club (“We’re going to seem like a bunch of losers if we call it the ‘Lonely Hearts Club’ outside,” Kaminari bemoaned”). You’ve annoyed your classmates successfully by singing Christmas Tree songs at inopportune times, but that’s about it.

So far, it is also an unofficial club because you don’t want to explain to Aizawa why this club exists in the first place. It is awfully embarrassing to tell a teacher the reason why your club is called the Christmas Tree Club when it has nothing to do with Christmas trees and more of your raging idiocy and hormones. The three of you are just hopelessly single and alone and need support. Most likely, there’s nothing you can do about it since you’re all heroes-in-training, but all of you would like to hope that there’s something beyond being chained to a job. 

“What are our problems?” Kaminari complains one day, throwing his hands up in the air. His face is colored in anguish, and you can’t blame him. “Why can’t we stop being single?”

“Because of you,” you and Kirishima chime in sync. 

Kaminari glares at the two of you, raising his eyebrows. “Excuse me, I’m the only one out of us who has dated someone.”

“You’re excused,” you quip back, high-fiving Kirishima when he laughs with you. “My excuse is that I haven’t found the right person.”
