FINISHED THE VAMP AU OUTLINE AT 20K
bc i'm insatiable for teasers, here's a snippet from every chapter đ
"That wasâ fuckin' hell. That was something," Crowley muttered against him. It turned quickly into a laugh. "Maybe file your nails next time."
âDick that good, huh?â she smirked. Crowley dropped his head onto the counter and groaned into his mask. It was new, slightly softer than the plain and scratchy N95s, with black-on-black snakes slithering all over it. If he was going to be sick, he might as well do it with style. âYou have no idea.â
âDarling, I canât,â Aziraphale scoffed. âYouâre warded, you imbecile. I couldnât befuddle you even if I wanted to.â The flat fell into a strained silence, punctured by their heavy gasps for breath. â...Befuddle?â Crowley leered.
Aziraphale loosened his grip around Crowleyâs hips, wincing as he pried bloodied nails out of the tears in his jeans. Then he paused when his eyes fell to his hands, and he let out a strange noise. âWell thatâs certainly an interesting reaction,â he murmured at the enormous swell in Crowleyâs trousers. âYeah, thanks for bringing that up.â
iâd like to report that i am still in the depths of hell
my inspiration for this fic faded months ago but my desire to finish it has not
iâve been writing this fic since january and iâm only 50 pages in itâs constantly on my mind which is insane bc im pretty sure my good omens hyperfixation ended a couple weeks ago (i still love it, the obsession has just gone away)
this stupid fic is never not on my mind but i canât get myself to write it im in the depths of hell rn
I love how much you love what you do here. Enjoying your work and seeing you exist makes me happy andIamonthediscordbutI'mshysoIlurksometimes
I know we all think Aziraphale is gonna come back from heaven dearly missing wine and food and good music but I think he's gonna come back and immediately crawl under a blanket because he is severely overstimulated by the fucking Big Light energy in heaven.
Those fluorescent overhead lights and the sheer brightness of this place absolutely do not mesh with the autisms, I mean look at his bookshop!! Dim and muted. Poor thing
Couldnât resist, as soon as I saw the suit I had to draw the pookie đ„șđ
hi bilv!
iâm curious, do u ever go back and reread your own works? for me, i can be suuuper critical of my writing during the process and itâs rly interesting revisiting old projects several months later and realizing âhuh. these actually donât suck.â just wondering what itâs like for you!
hope youâre having a lovely day :)
I DOOOO. i love my stories a lot and i write what i want to read, so i've reread my fics to hell and back đ usually only when i first finish them tho
i'm kind of the opposite, i get so into flow that i like pretty much everything i'm writing, but when i come back to it later i find everything wrong with it. it makes it hard for me to feel confident about my earlier stories, so i rarely promo Black Vitrum knowing the prose is objectively much weaker than what i write now đ©
i have a spreadsheet for every fic ive read this year and its all categorized by like a dozen dif things itâs my pride and joy
The Good Omens team never fails to surprise us: In the Hell scenes set in 1941, there are subtle beeps in the background that many might have missed: morse code messages!Â
We took the time to decode these messages from about 5 minutes of the show â some parts are easy to identify, some parts are really hard due to overlying sounds or noises.Â
We used the 5.1 audio and selected only the channel with the morse signals. Check out an easy snippet â which line is it? :)
Then, we applied high- and low-pass filters to emphasize the codeâs pitch around 1360 Hz. Some of us have pretty sharp ears, some of us worked with the frequency spectra to mark short and long signals as well as pauses in between.Â
Here is what we have heard or seen, together with some facts and thoughts on the lines. Let us know what you think!
S2E4 06:19 to 08:23 âHave a miserable eternityâ
Here are the pieces we have successfully decoded:Â
HAVE A DREADFUL ETERNITY
We are wondering why this is different to the text via loudspeaker as well as Furfurâs âhave a miserable eternityâ...
TOMMYâS A LEGEND
Do we know a Tommy?
1) There's the Welsh magician/comedian Tommy Cooper (his magical act specialized in magic tricks that appeared to fail), who was the inspiration for the red fez in the magic shop. Cooper died live on television suffering a heart attack. :(
2) There's also the lead character Tommy in Brigadoon, the plot of which feels seriously GO-coded. There is a magic village hidden outside time that only appears in Scotland once every 100 years and is connected to the rest of the world with a bridge, outsiders who find "clues about the village and its people that make no sense", and a plot about unlikely lovers who are separated (because one "can't just leave everything in the real world behind"), and an ending that reunites the lovers against all odds because of the strength of their love ("I told ye, if you love someone deeply enough, anything is possible ... even miracles.")
PAULâS OUR MIXING HERO
Could that be the Re-Recording Mixer PAUL McFADDEN?
ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER HERE CHEER UP ITâS ONLY ETERNAL DAMNATION ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER HERE CHEER UP ITâS ONLY ETERNAL DAMNATION ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER HERE CHEER UP ITâS ONLY ETERNAL DAMNATION ABAN
The phrase "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here" is a quote from Danteâs Inferno, Prelude to Hell, Canto III, Vestibule of Hell: Dante passes through the gate of Hell, which bears an inscription ending with the phrase "Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate". So, the minisode is THE place where we get quotes from the two most famous literary accounts of Hell â with Furfur's quotation of Paradise Lost in the dressing room at the Windmill Theater: "In dubious battle on the Plains of Heaven".Â
S2E4 09:16 to 10:09 âProcessing the Nazisâ
ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER HERE CHEER UP ITâS ONLY ETERNAL DAMNATION ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER HERE CHEER UP ITâS ONLY ETERNAL DAMNATION
S2E4 11:07 - 13:12: âThe offer to return as Zombiesâ
These two minutes are very tricky: while in the first half it is ok-ish to identify the signals in the spectrum, the second half is overlaid by so much noise⊠â yes, we are calling the dialogues and sounds in hell noise now :D â that we chose a different approach.Â
It looked as if the sequence starts from the beginning, so we compared both parts, and now we are quite sure that it is the same pattern.Â
DO NOT LICK THE WALLS HEAVEN LOOKS DOWN ON YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE PATHETIC ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER HERE CHEER UP ITâS ONLY ETERNAL DAMNATION DO NOT LICK THE WALLS HEAVEN LOOKS DOWN ON YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE PATHETIC ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER HERE CHEER UP ITâS ONLY ETERNAL DAMNATION DO NOT LICK THE WALLS HEAVEN LO âŠ
So those are the sections we are pretty certain we have correct. However, there is one section we are still unsure on - maybe you can help?
Back to S2E4 06:19 to 08:23
We have been fighting hard with the first six seconds, before âHAVE A DREADFUL ETERNITYâ and we think it is:
SHEâS IN MA PHONE
Who are we talking about now?
Do you have any other ideas of what this could be? If it is âSheâs in ma phoneâ, what does that mean? Or is the S just noise and it starts with an H? Or even with a B â BEâS IN MA PHONE?
So, what are your thoughts on all of these messages? Why go to the effort of putting morse code here? Is it a fun easter egg, or something more? And why say âdreadful eternityâ in morse when the quote used in the show is âmiserable eternityâ? We have so many questions!
Spoiler: There is more code hidden throughout the series. Let us know what you see or hear!
