paul and darry
Ponyboy, young and naive: I hope something good happens. Ponyboy, now: I hope whatever bad thing happens is at least funny.
I fear once Darry made such a traumatic and dark joke about his depression and parents death that the whole gangs just stared at him slack jawed for a good thirty minutes while he just hummed away paying bills and making dinner
I'm gonna make my dad print this out đŒđŒ
(This is also for anyone who wants it)
Darry is such a 20-year-old boy. The fandom views him as this middle aged dad, but he is very much a 20-year-old big brother supervising his younger brothers while he himself is left unsupervised. Heâs the embodiment of that quote âin my defense I was also left unsupervised.â
He eats chocolate cake for breakfast and lets his brothers do the same. He tells his brothers not to do anything that would land them in a boys home, but he fights in rumbles, lets them fight, hangs out with criminals, is ready to hide Dally from the cops, etc, because gang code and greaser code is sacrosanct in that ride-or-die, ritualized, romanticised way your social structure is at that age. (Also because thatâs the only support system they have.) He has a rivalry with his high school best friend that theyâre both still really hung up on. He shows off by flexing his muscles.
Darry Curtis is a hormonal, adolescent, barely-not-a-teenager who should absolutely not be solely responsible for his brothers.
Headcanon that when Mrs. Curtis was a teenager, one of her friends died because he was beaten then kicked out and so he slept outside for like a week, got an infection, and it killed him. Thatâs why sheâs so adamant on having an open door policy for everyone who needs it. She refuses to let another kid die because they were alone and uncared for.
more of these wow
Just had a thought, imagine if #those homestuck fans talked about Mom the way they talk about Bro
Look man, I just don't buy the whole "Mom Lalonde was an alcoholic" thing. Sure, she drank sometimes, but it was obviously played for jokes and as a funny gag. But then Hussie decided to lean into alpha timeline Roxy having problems with alcohol because of fan service. It's clear Mom was meant to be a perfect attentive mother who drank from time to time but then Andrew turned her into an alcoholic instead for no reason. Don't even get me started on how Rose started drinking on the meteor, either. It's all so forced and unrealistic, it's like they just HAD to turn a perfectly silly joke of Mom drinking sometimes into something serious with Roxy being an alcoholic and wanted some sort of conflict between Rose and Kanaya
Okay, 1) Why did wikipedia decide to feature this as one of todays fun facts and 2) whose tumblr ass art is this isnt this a homestuck characterOkay yeah i looked it up it's homestuck. Homestuck mpreg on wikipedia good job everyone
It must be so bizarre for the gang to hear Ponyboy complaining that Darry hates him. Because compared to all their parents, compared to everyone else in their neighborhood, Darrel Curtis is the greatest guardian to ever exist.
Darry makes sure Ponyboy stays in school (he even checks his homework!), he always makes sure Ponyboy is safe, always worries when Pony doesnât come home when he said he would. He actually keeps track of when Pony is supposed to be home! He works so hard and makes sure his paychecks go to his brothers before anything else.
He never hits Ponyboy. Ever. (Later he will, once and only once, and heâll beat himself up about it so bad youâd think heâd killed the kid.) He never gets drunk in front of Pony. He never throws anything at him. He never puts out cigarettes on his skin. He never kicks him out of the house. Pony says Darry âhollersâ at him. They know hollering. Darry Curtis might as well be singing lullabies.
And when Darry does yell at Pony, itâs always about doing his homework and coming home at curfew (he gives him a curfew!). Not for bothering him for rides home, but for not calling him for a ride. Because he wants to keep Ponyboy safe. He wants Ponyboy to stay safe so badly that he yells at him when he doesnât. If Darry hated Pony, heâd yell at him to get the hell out of the house, not into it; to get out of his sight, not stay in it.
When Pony gripes about how âcold and hard and unfeelingâ Darry is, theyâre like, what the actual fuck is he talking about? No dad or big brother in their entire neighborhood is as affectionate as Darry is with his kid brothers. Only the gang is privy to Darry hugging or tickling or picking up and carrying his brothers, but anyone can see that heâs never rough or mean to them.
And when they try to point out all this hard evidence, Pony justâŠ..doesnât believe it. Like he can think of some other reason why Darry does what he does.
As if they didnât need more proof that Darry isnât a goddamn saint, he seems to go along with it! Shortly after Johnny and Dallas die, Darry says, âIâm trying to do like Soda said and be softer on the kid.â
And Steve and Two-Bit and maybe Tim are like, softer than what?

LOVE YALL POOKIES <333
love this deleted scene in general because i love dally and his two little brothers dynamic but what always makes me laugh is johnny trying his best to back them up đđđđ
him looking over at dally at the beginning like "here we go with this routine again" and then his halfhearted "more seltzer.. needs more seltzer đ" and getting cut off by dally i can't stop laughing
also pony is so into it like "the health people are gonna CONDEMN this place đ€Ź" i know once they walked out dally was like "a little heavy on the theatrics this time pony"
to all of the people who say âdallas winston wouldnât have a soft spot for kidsâ and âyouâre mischaracterizing him, he literally beat up childrenâ i offer you that pony is just really fucking gullible. in my brain, dally was telling the gang a story about some kid sassing him and jokingly says âso i punched himâ and before he can even vaguely clarify that it was a joke pony interrupts like âREALLY!?!â and he just looks at pony and sarcastically goes âyeah kid, i spent my afternoon beating on some childrenâ and pony just starts writing it in his notebook. i refuse to believe he is a reliable narrator lmao
happy Thursday the 20th
Narrator: âwhen Tim Shepard found his tires slashed, he decided to do a little detective work.â
Tim: âDallas, did you slash my tires?â
Dallas: âoh, most definitely.â
Darry Curtis n the mournin of just bein an older brother
ELLIOTT!!
i have all but one hc that's already pretty canon, but i think some of the only times elliott really breaks out of his character is when his hair is threatened (at least, it's the easiest way to get a bigger reaction out of him lol)
one last stardew post before i take a lil hiatus to work on school :,)) animation things
:))))
GUYS MY STARDEW VALLEY CHICKEN PLUSH CAME TODAY!!!! :3
Dave has a secret Tumblr account where he writes sad poetry, he will deny it.

Mr. Syme: âone time I graded Ponyboyâs diary. It was very dark.â
POV: Darryâs officially run out of ideas to get Ponyboy to do his homework
Imagine just having a gang of little boys bring critters into your home constantly and you donât even know how they manage or where theyâre even finding them. Darrel sr. Is not helping. He is encouraging this.
Possum, raccoon, rabbits, armadillo, squirrel somehow, stray dogs, coyote they thought was a dog, probably would do a deer or a mountain lion if they could
Just converted and mud holding some poor creature like itâs a caught fish way too proud of themselves.
Johnnyâs best with rabbits. Dallas would fight a bear given a chance . Steve can and will wiggle himself under a house after something .Twobit would jump in a river. Pony is good at climbing and fast. Soda does good calls. Darry tracks and knows basic animal facts.
