Totally Friendly Flirting (Rise! Leo X Reader)

Your friend Leo was…interesting to say the least. He was not the average sort, and that's not even mentioning the whole mutant turtle thing he has going on.

He was always flirting with you, every chance he got. The red eared slider used pick up lines as a hello and used flirty waves as a goodbye. It was confusing but you've gotten used to it by now.

Therefore the lack of ridiculous pick up lines was surprising. Maybe because it was Valentine's day? You thought to yourself, checking your phone for the lack of messages from your favorite turtle. Eventually you sighed and tucked your phone away, getting ready to head down to the lair.

You had bought chocolates for all your friends, including the turtles, but Leo's was a bit extra special. It would be a lie if you said you didn't have a tiny crush on him. But Leo doesn't like you that way, even with all his flirty words and silly smirks.

Climbing down the ladder, you slipped into the turtle's home. Contrary to popular belief it smelled pretty good in the lair, but maybe it was because of Mikey's cooking.

“I'm here!” You said, making sure to keep a tight hold on each of the chocolates so they don't fall and get ruined. You heard a clatter from inside, the usual noise as you finally arrived.

The first to greet you was Mikey, who was wearing an apron. He smiled widely pulling you into a hug.

After he pulled away, you handed Mikey his chocolate. His eyes lit up with his excitement as you said, “Happy Valentine's Day, Mikey!”

He ruffled your hair and said, “Thanks, [name].”

With one crossed off the list, you quickly went in search of the other brothers. Lucky for you, you were able to give Raph and Donnie their chocolates.

“Leon?” You called out, knocking gently on his door. He opened it up, giving you a half smile.

“Hola, hermosa. This for me?” Leo asked, already making grabby hands at the chocolate box in your hands. You rolled your eyes, tilting it away.

“Yes, it's for you. But don't be so impatient, don't you appreciate my company?” You replied, a playful smile on your lips, “You haven't even invited me into your room, 'Nardo. That's very rude.”

Leo dramatically gasped, holding a hand to his chest, as he said, “Ooh, how dare I? Please, might you grace my room with your presence?”

You felt yourself relax as he seemed to fall into his usual joking self. You nodded and said, “Umm, I suppose I've decided you're worthy of being in my space.”

Leo chuckled, backing up so you could walk in. You placed the chocolate box on his nightstand, smiling at Leo. Even though something was bothering you, underneath it all.

You ignored the strange feeling as you sat on Leo's bed, watching him curiously. He leaned against the wall, watching you right back.

The silence was strange to say the least. Leo has always been quite the talker so hearing nothing from him just worsened your nerves. Not to mention Leo's lack of platonic flirting.

Even though you knew he didn't have a crush on you, his flirting made it easier to hold onto the delusion that maybe he might. But then again, thinking about..maybe it's better if he stopped. So you could try and move on.

“So how are you, mi amor? Anybody catch your eye on this lovely Valentine's day?” Leo asked, taking a chocolate from the box. He appeared casual, aside from his tense posture. He looked like he was in pain as he spoke.

“Sort of.” You admitted, honestly, “I like him but he doesn't like me.”

Leo gave you a sympathetic look, nodding slightly. Wordlessly, he handed you a chocolate as a sort of silent comfort. You smiled, wishing you could just admit who you were feeling that way about.

“How about you, Leo?” You asked, even if you really, really didn't want to know. “Do you have a special person on the side? I noticed you weren't making your usual comments today.”

Leo stared at you, for a long time. His expression was unreadable, his body frozen. You looked at him confused, wondering what had happened.

“Do you really just not get it?” Leo asked, voice dropping to a whisper. The seriousness in his tone made you look at him more intently, focusing solely on the conversation. “Are you genuinely this oblivious?” .

“Oblivious? Oblivious to what?”

Leo laughed, rubbing a hand over his face like he had discovered something life changing. Then he looked back at you, his dark eyes examining you.

“I stopped flirting with you today because I finally took the hint that you didn't like me that way.” Leo said, still laughing. You stared at him in shock, jaw dropped.

“But I thought you meant it as friends! Like platonic flirting?” You sputtered, realizing how ridiculous that was. Leo didn't platonically flirt with anyone except for you, you should have figured it out.

Leo laughed again, although still looking upset, “I can't believe it. You really are this blind. Wow.” You would have argued if you could.

“So, do you still have a crush on me?” You asked shyly, looking at Leo nervously. He hesitated for a moment before nodding.

You felt your heart leap in your chest, fighting a smile as you said, “Leo, I have a crush on you too. I really, really like you. But I thought you didn't have a crush on me.”

It was Leo's turn for stunned silence, arms crossed over his plastron as he took in your words. You fiddled with the sleeves of your shirt, letting out a surprised yelp when he picked you up bridal style. .

“I wish I knew you wanted me.” Leo whispered, leaning in to place a kiss on your cheek. You giggled nervously, unable to help the way you instantly flustered under his touch. Leo grinned, kissing your other cheek.

“But it's okay. Things happen for reasons I think are sure.” Leo added, finally kissing you on the lips. It was soft and sweet, like laying out in the sun on those perfectly warm days.

“I thought today's Valentine's day was going to be terrible.” You confessed, seeing as you had thought your love was unrequited. .

“Me too.” Leo agreed, still hugging you close to his body. There was a silent addition to your statement.

But today ended up a lot much more perfect than you ever could have imagined.
