It's sad/funny to me how some people are so aggressive/mean to Prince. Either because: 1. You are being mean to This (floral baby fuck).

He was born three minutes ago. Give him a sec. 2. The man has never uttered a single mean word towards the player, unlike Pebbles or Spinning Top. He's even incapable of getting mad with the player even though he Should, like Moon. Whatchu saying fuck him for? 3. What he's doing is Literally the same thing that the Iterators were meant to figure out and commit as well (or just in that same vein. also mass """murder""" [ascension =/= death tho]). If one hates him for the Rot spreading across the ripples and making the lizards and shit yelp, then by logic all Iteratorkind should be despised as well for their potential And fabricated destiny/purpose to do the same.

And the Ancients, but they are already mostly despised in the fandom anyway. And the entire point of the dang game/the game itself, but I won't talk about that. Boring old conversation.

4. The presumed fact is that everything would eventually end up like rotted through even if he didn't appear. Because that is how the existence works over there. That's the Cycle on a large scale. It's probably slow and painful- constant deterioration. Here it still sucks, yes, but it's quicker and he had his eyes on an out for everything that the Cycle doesn't have (most likely). There was a planned end with him that he failed to reach (presumably, I'm 99% positive), not infinite torturous looping.

5. The Prince is the perfect means for showing what this world's spirituality is about. He's absolutely Amazing and mindfucky and I love how he addresses the large scale of the world as a story device, while Spin addresses the very intimate and personal of a sapient creature Within that world. Just for how great he is for exposition I can't be personally pissed with him. 6. ,,He's annoying to get to." I recommend doing a Spearmaster all pearls run without any passaging shenanigans. Just walk to a pearl and walk with it back to Moon. As so, the bar for annoying returning to an NPC should be raised and the Throne will be more mentally and emotionally acceptable 👌

“ The man has never uttered a single mean word towards the player unlike Pebbles or Spinning Top.” pebbles doesnt even say anything to be- mean he just is annoyed about the fact that the rats have been crawling through his nervous system. give me one non-downpour example of him -being directly mean to the slugcat prince is also not a man. “He's even incapable of getting mad with the player even though he Should like Moon.” shut up?? shut the fuck up??? moon definitely gets ma -at the player. if you annoy her she literally fucking calls you “terrible creature”. she throws shit at you. she will not talk to you. she will yell at you. she is very capable of getting mad at you. shes just more patient about it than pebbles because he forgets that theyr -just following instincts and assumes they are climbing him and refusing to communicate out of spite. rather than instinct. while moon reminds herself that you are just an animal doing shit out of instinct. except for when you have the mark. that is definitely no -instinct. but she still sees it that way prince doesnt get mad at the player because it genuinely thinks they are playing touys. prince loves the watcher a lot. but it doesnt assum -e it's out of instinct and it sees you as an equal i could ramble but i dont hae time 😔

On The Prince's awakening, and enlightenment through echoes

While the throne has probably existed for eons, and something was starting to coalesce at its peak, it is pretty openly stated that it is watcher's precense in the throne what acted as catalyst for the birth of the prince's selfhood

4 karma "murals", 4 karma upgrades

4 visits, 4 warp points

Watcher's visits brought enlightenment like visiting echoes would do for a slugcat

"The highest enlightenment, achieved by the hardest path. A feat even guardians must respect" This achievement requires the player to raise their maximum karma to the highest level without visiting Five Pebbles. To do this, the player must find 4 out of the 6 Echoes, each of which raise the player's maximum karma by a small amount. All 4 Echoes must be found before visiting Five Pebbles. The achievement is earned as soon as the last Echo raises the player's karma level to the maximum of 10.

And is not as simple as just visiting 4 times either: for this awakening to properly progress you must make it to the top, eat the karma flower, then make it to a previously sealed chamber to open a warp point there

Enlightenment is gaining knowledge, understanding, insight

Perhaps Echoes don't just give you more karma merely by merit of being extraplanar beings with influence over karma itself, or by the insight behind their anecdotes

Perhaps Echoes give you a glimpse into what lies beyond, a window to the fractal layers of reality

Perhaps what is happening here is something similar, the watcher showing the throne other worlds through the paths

the karma flowers though, thats harder to understand

perhaps the one at the very top represents the little death that is sleep ("like sleep like death")

Echoes always send you back to sleep after all
