That button holding on for dear life
did a little half-assed art during online classes 😬 i had fox in mind because i like that everyone goes awooga over his tiddies but i don’t know…maybe you decide who this clone is
can be considered modern AU too i guess…?
What I think some of the clones would wear for Halloween:
Rex is obviously wearing a t-rex suit against his better judgement.
Bly did a couple’s costume with Aayla. They are Jack and Sally and it’s adorable.
The entire wolf pack dressed up as Plo and he had a proud dad moment.
Fox did not want nor plan to wear a costume but Thorn and Thire got him a Fox Mcloud costume.
Cody and Obi wan also did a couples costume and it was Sherlock and Watson.
First, in most cases he does not copy the abilities. That being said, he already has a ton anyways so outside of very specific powers like GL’s ring constructs or zatanna’s spells, he either already has it or can convincing use his own powers to simulate it.
Now to your questions
1. As far as I’ve seen, no, there is no set limitation on replication or duration. That being said, most if not all powers and abilities at some point will become exhausting.
Ex: Supes can use his laser vision or GL can make a construct but for prolonged periods it likely would be hard to maintain.
2. For artistic reasons it’s probably easier to draw a default, ctrl+c ctrl+v. For in universe reason I believe, and I could be wrong, it’s because the Martian society as a whole don’t put too much stock into physical appearance because they are mentally oriented as a society and as beings.
Also if I can find it I think there’s a MMH run that touches on the topic of a martian’s physical appearance.
3. Yes, and this can be seen in one of the dc animated shows. He flips through tv channels and shape-shifts to match whoever is on the screen. Granted that’s video footage not a photo, but he was switching channels quickly.
- to expand that question I assume you’re asking “can he shape shift into something from a photo- and be 100% accurate” which the answer is likely no.
-Now does he need to be 100% accurate? Depends on the mission. Into the average goon? He can skimp out on extra moles and scars. Into a known villain? Yeah maybe get the colour of the eyes right.
-With that said the events where MMH has to shape-shift he’ll likely have the physical referent to copy or videos/photos of it from multiple povs .
Been thinking about Martian physiology (disclaimer: limited knowledge of both it and the entirety of Martian Manhunter canon).
While there's a debate and conflicting canonical mentions of whether MM can take on powers and abilities, one definite capability is the way he can transform into anyone (and anything)
Which leads me to a few questions:
Are there any limitations to transformation duration/anything he can't replicate?
Why do all Martians look the same/have a default?
Can MM transform into something based on a picture? (As in a never before seen, completely novel entity? Since he's transformed into humans before, I'll say he can transform into any human based on an image)
If we apply some principles of human biology to them, Martians are kind of like B cells. They can hypermutate antibodies to even capture/get close to disease states never before experienced. Martians probably possess massive genomes with lots of splicing and recombination to be able to recapture all the possible appearances. I'm assuming they're cuttlefish like.

Heart Locket gif opens up revealing a picture of Commander Fox and text saying “Are you commander Fox because you are a 10 out of 10”]
Quinlan: Are you Commander Fox?
Fox: Vos I swear.
Quinlan: -because you’re a 10/10.
Fox: …
*sets blaster to kill.*
vos means fox in dutch, which means that if fox takes quinlans last name when they're married, he'd literally be named 'fox fox'
hey rex, how come you get TWO people to smooch?
[ID: Padme and Anakin, dressed for a dinner party in 501st blue, nudge along a rumpled, blushing, and very well-kissed captain Rex. Rex has lipstick marks all over him. He looks a little dazed and has a “loading…” icon above his head.]
thanks to @phoenixyfriend for helping me figure out outfits for padme and anakin!! references under the cut

Coruscant Guard hot take:
Out of the all the clone sects, they’re the most accustomed to killing organics (non-droids).
Hear me out, other clones are on actual battlefields but 90% of their enemies are droids. I don’t think we see much of clones killing organics outside of order 66, and that one fucked up episode w/ pong Krell.
Also I know there’s groups aligned w/ the separatist or at least unaligned but still fighting republic troops. But I’m not arguing quantity I’m arguing the clones familiarity with killing organic beings
For the coruscant guard, while a lot of droids are around, living beings are far more likely to be perpetrators/criminals. Lethal force to a degree seems to be allowed, not for the safety of the clones of course, but so the assailant doesn’t hurt anyone with actual human rights. But do you see my point?
Fox: You say “please” and “thank you” in front of the shinies all the time and they never repeat it.
Fox: But when you say “fuck” or “I want to murder the Chancellor” ONCE—
Tonight I dressed as Anakin.
Coincidentally I also held a child tonight.
And in my head all I could think was
“This is probably the most positive interaction Anakin will ever have with a child.”
