sex and love is for the weak (insert aroace flag slowly fading in)
Happy Book 7 Last Chapter (soon)
Agree !
I never met an aroace person in real life unfortunately...💔
I wish I can know what is it to felt comfortable around someone without being stress and uncomfortable...
I feel kinda lonely as an aroace person for about twenty years now. 😔
Plus, I don't mind to be in queer platonic relationship with another aroace person, regardless about their gender or non-gender identity.
all i can think to say rn is that it's insane how safe it feels to be around other aroaces
"aphobia doesn't exist" really?
"you're a lesbian because u haven't been with the right man" - "you're ace just because you have SA trauma"
"if a man likes men there's something wrong with him, it's not natural" - "not being attracted to people isn't naturally right"
"bisexuality doesn't exist, just come out as gay/straight" - "being aroace isn't a real thing, you're just broken"
"you're not queer, you're too young to know that" - "you're not aroace, you'll experience love/sexual attraction any time soon"
Same attacks but directed to a different group of people. I've seen queer aphobes saying shit like this but honestly you're no better than a homophobe
It’s funny to me that even Oda seems to have had misgivings about killing off Ace
He didn't seem realize just how impactful Ace continuing to live on would've been for the story and Ace’s character. It really feels like he just killed him for drama
I said this before already but the son of Roger being executed feels redundant because Roger already was executed. Ace already thought his life is worthless and you could say it's in character for him to sacrifice it for Luffy, but it just feels like things are playing into the Marines hands without it having enough of a payoff or justification for the narrative itself. Not to mention all his mother Rouge suffered to make sure he could live after she gave birth to him…..?
There's plenty that still could've been done with his character. What was even the point of him being Rogers son other than him getting executed before really accomplishing anything (sorry)
Coupled with the fact that most anything we know about Ace outside of his relationship with Luffy or Roger is information we learn in supplementary material that feels like it’s exaggerated/unwarranted because Oda never brought him up after Alabasta until Marineford (keeping in mind how short his screen time was in the manga compared to in the anime because him traveling with the strawhats was added in). Unless you count those silly one page cover stories.
I still think it would’ve been so much more interesting to see Ace be able to interact with Hancock and Rayleigh after the fight (with Luffy attached to him at the hip like glue, sobbing his eyes out because his big brother is still alive ugh I'm SICK).
Hancock would be acting like a bride trying to prove herself to a family member before they get married which would’ve been SO FUNNY as a gag (enough to make me forget certain things). And Rayleigh? Roger’s second in command? Could’ve finally given Ace a reason to be proud of his bloodline by telling him first hand accounts of his time on the Oro Jackson, so that Ace could learn to stop hating himself…missed opportunities.
And sure, Luffy’s reaction to Ace's death was gut wrenching and impactful, but the way he gets over it is so cheap to me because loss is so much more painful than knowing what you already have can actually fix so quickly. Especially with the loss of a family member or person you adored.
Sigh
It’s just…everything else in One Piece tends to make sense for the story and have real reason to be there, but Ace dying just doesn't…like of allll the characters to sustain horrible wounds and actually die from them why Ace? Damn.

Luffy loves bugs, yeah?
There's a panel in Akashi's backstory (Q266) that looks like this:
In the tankoubon version, an image of Akashi with his father was added to the background:
It was a nice addition that helped with Akashi Masaomi's character. He made Seijuurou study everything, but at least he was there himself to watch over his son instead of just throwing a mountain of work at Seijuurou and leaving the kid to himself. While he was distant and did not seem to give much thought to Seijuurou's feelings, he did try to spend time for his son despite the workload of a CEO, and I think that made him a little better than how he was depicted earlier.
Also: "Did Masaomi love Shiori?"
I think this question was brought up some time before and the answer was behind this panel. The English translation above said "as though he'd forgotten she had ever existed" - in past perfect tense, giving the impression of "he had already forgotten about her". The Japanese dialogue said "それを忘れようとする" which meant "Masaomi tried to forget Shiori existed". And it's obviously different.
I'd like to believe the reason why Masaomi did that was the fact that an Akashi isn't allowed to show weakness. This is likely something he was taught as a child, as shown when his expectations for Seijuurou wasn't because "you are my son", but because "you are an Akashi". It's a family tradition thing, and Masaomi was another victim to it. He tried to forget about Shiori's death (maybe tried to make his son do it too), as the negative feelings that came with it would get in the way of being the perfect leader he (Seijuurou) had (will have) to be.
I believe he did love her after all. He was in pain just like Seijuurou, and buried that pain by focusing on pushing Seijuurou harder which ended up hurting the kid even more, which was sad for both of them.
