Alfred's dog: A golden retriever cause its's friendly, energetic, sociable and huggable just like Alfred is and it's name is Daisy after his favorite flower.

Ivan's dog: A husky named Laika. It's still a puppy. (Yes it's the very same Laika that got launched into space, I like to think she reincarnated because Joan did it so why not)

Yao: A chow chow because it's lazy, fluffy, cute and affectionate and that's how Yao likes dogs. It's name is Kuai because the dog is also intelligent.

Francis is a man who lives for the glitz and glamor of life, partly due to his upbringing. He has been wealthy since birth as the Bonnefoys had been the leading family in Grand Festivals, so he had also grown up watching Pokemon coordinators and showcases. He was a model for some time while participating in Pokemon Contests and winning several Grand Festival titles. While he still regularly performs in Contests, he is active in competitive battling and earning the title of one of the best trainers in all of Kalos. He admittedly had no interest in battling once, viewing it as barbaric. But his longtime childhood friend and rival, Arthur, had started battling soon after getting his Pokemon and had taunted Francis, saying he was incapable of doing the same as he was too weak and feminine. Angered, Francis set out to prove him wrong, participating in the Final Test too and becoming a trainer. His reputation as a Bonnefoy means he is still regarded as spoiled and weak, but he continuously proves them wrong in every battle. He is also an Elite Four member alongside Alfred, Arthur, and Yao, and is in the Pokemon Hall of Fame with the record of having won the most battles. This is due to his own skills and the fact that Arthur's mocking words have been fueling him in every battle. He is a Pokemon Coordinator for Astral in the future, working alongside the rest of his (former) group but in the entertainment sector. His parents are successful but neglect him in favor of their work, so Francis gladly welcomes the chaos of the Kirkland family and often spends his time with them instead of in his own house.

Note:

The Astral Institute handles everything Pokemon-related, from battles and championships to Grand Festivals and showcases to Pokemon Centers. There are different sectors (technology, literature, entertainment, medical, etc.) Alfred is in the tech sector, Arthur is in literature, and Yao is in medical. There are various professions in each, such as coordinators, researchers, journalists, and professors.

aw thank u for the nice words!! and omg there's sm that didn't make it into the final cut it feels impossible to talk about them all. Half of them I scrapped because I plan to reuse them in the sequel, which I'm already drafting the outline of

There were many scrapped ideas. Most were about Alfred and Ivan's interactions. I was supposed to make them kiss earlier on in the story but scrapped it in favor of a more slow-burn pace.

Also, the world originally wasn't steampunk, but rather a more HOTD-like world. As in there was no technology, just medieval settings, but there were dragons and magic. Alfred was initially supposed to be a witch, but a very clumsy one. Dragons play an essential part of life, highly integrated into civilization, kinda like HTTYD. This came into use in the plot when Ivan's dragon escaped and landed in Alfred's village, and the villagers were too scared to approach a dragon of the royal family, but Alfred (not knowing it was a royal dragon cuz he's dumb like that) rushed forward to help. However his magic is faulty and he ended up making a big boom, but dw the dragon was unharmed. Instead of simply healing the dragon, Alfred accidentally seeped his magic into its scales. He didn't think much of it tho and continued to properly heal the dragon until it finally was able to fly away. But when it returned to the palace, the dragon no longer responded to Ivan because of Alfred's magic inside it, so they sent guards to hunt down the witch who marked a royal dragon, and that's how Alfred was found and dragged to the palace.

This was scrapped for a more high-stakes and much, much darker plot, as the original is so whimsy and fairy-tale like. I plan to reuse that kind of world-building though just not for Spades HAHAHA

There were many others, but most of them are in the bin to be reused, so I won't be spoiling them hehe

This is actually an old comic that we restructured, relined, and colored! We plan to do that with some of our older stuff starting with ones we particularly loved or that were favorited a lot so we can revisit them. We particularly love that he’s harassing him on that girly phone lmao. I checked Tumblr’s guidelines and cussing is okay? I used to be very cautious about that when I first got on cause I had no idea about tumblr but nothing says we can’t cuss so… As funny as censoring could be I’m going to leave it ❤️

It's honestly sort of amazing to me how France is used to refer to posh, classy, stylish or just very beautiful looking things like when you look at a pretty looking dish you say "wow that looks so french" or something similar to that. 

The Eurovision is a big deal for the european nations, not because of the pressure of having to win to give pride to your citizens, but because it's like a getaway for them.

They all stay in the same hotel, eat together, have parties together, just have fun in general. Sometimes they have sleepovers. They care about winning and get upset when they lose, but it’s not too serious between them. They just like to have fun in the contest.

Other non-european nations come to cheer them on too (Leon comes to cheer on Emil, Matthew and Alfred come to support Arthur Francis and Ivan, Kiku comes to cheer on Ludwig and Feliciano) Ivan is almost always sad during Eurovision since he never gets any wins. Alfred always takes him out for a comfort date afterwards to make him feel better. He only won once in 2008. Luckily for him, the other europeans never made fun of him or mocked him for losing all the time. The nordics are bitter about Berwald always winning. They know he's good, but never give him all 12 points (only Tino does that)
