The Avengers are a team of Witches and Wizards fighting against the Dark Lord Thanos.

Tony is the mad Wizarding inventor who is a genius with a wand. Bruce is a part-time healer, full-time shape-shifting werewolf. Clint and Natasha are Unspeakables. Thor is a Quidditch beater. And Auror Steve has one hell of a shield charm.

(Oh, and Loki is a Death Eater, which no one is surprised about)

Right. I feel incredibly awkward doing this, but Tumblr - I need writing advice.

Basically, I’m writing a story, and one of my characters is blind in one eye. I recognise that life with partial blindness is different to fully sighted life. However, I’m fully sighted, and I don’t want to accidentally make mistakes or offend anybody. So... I have some questions. If anybody with knowledge about any of this can answer anything, or throw in extra info, that would be great!

First off, a little background about my character. He was born fully sighted, but got into a fight at 16, and got stabbed in his left eye. He survived the attack, but even with heavy surgery, he wound up blind in his left eye, whilst his right eye can see perfectly well. He’s now 19 years old, and has a job as a hacker/computer specialist/hacktivist. Now, for the questions!

1: Is there any way that being partially blind heavily affects day-to-day life? I know that depth perception would be heavily impaired or completely gone, because of biology, but I have a feeling that there’s more to it, and it’s different from full blindness/impaired eyesight in both eyes. So, I’m just checking on this.

2: Would any adjustments have to be made to living spaces to accommodate him? (He currently lives on the road/out of his car, if that affects anything. On the same note, could he actually drive? Because of the depth perception.)

3: Are there any other effects that partial blindness has on one’s life that I might be overlooking? Like, emotional effects, mental wellbeing, etc etc.

4: Would it be an effective idea for me to buy an eyepatch and cover my left eye with it for one or two weeks, or is that incredibly offensive and not a good idea? I might edit or follow up on this post with more questions in the future if more arise. Please tell me if I’ve been offensive here, or made mistakes with phrasing, tags, anything! I don’t want to accidentally be rude! Thanks in advance for any advice people might be able to give. :)

What sort of stuff should people submit in junk responses, exactly? Will just random keysmash do?

[Tweet From The FBI At 5:47pm EDT On June 1, 2020: The FBI Is Seeking Information And Digital Media Depicting

[Tweet from the FBI at 5:47pm EDT on June 1, 2020: The FBI is seeking information and digital media depicting individuals inciting violence during First Amendment protected peaceful demonstrations: fbi.gov/violence]

The FBI has set up an online tip site to collect information on “unlawful violent actions” going on at protests in the U.S. Please help flood the system with junk responses so the FBI can’t use this tool to track down and punish protesters! You can submit a junk response here or by calling 1-800-225-5324.

Some details:

You can submit multiple responses

You do not have to be in the U.S to submit something

The form asks for but doesn’t require you to fill out personal information

Even though the page is meant to be collecting photo/video files, you don’t have to upload any (although doing so will make your response more time consuming to weed out!)

Messing with surveillance tools like this has been shown to be effective this week already. Support the protesters who are fighting for and with you! Black lives matter!

Posting at 12:30pm EDT on June 2.

RIGHT. So. I just noticed something, and I have nowhere else suitable to put my opinion, so... here.

Society glamourizes alcohol/drinking far too much, really???

I was just looking at Mother’s Day cards (I know, I know) and I noticed that a good portion of them - at least half - involve alcohol, drinking, or wine in some way. It’s honestly a little disturbing. Alcohol is literally poison. Getting drunk is the effect of getting poisoned. Millions of people get addicted to alcohol/die from alcohol addiction every year, and even more have their lives disrupted from the addiction or death from alcohol poisoning of a friend or family member. Drunk driving is one of the leading causes of death whilst in a vehicle. Alcohol causes all sorts of diseases and health effects. All of this happens, and we’re encouraging our mothers, our fathers, our children, our siblings, and our peers to drink alcohol... for what?

Drinking doesn’t have a practical use. So, for what?

Fun?

Alcohol, a literal poison, is legal in almost every country, whilst weed/marijuana, a completely harmless plant, is still widely criminalised. The general population of many countries are drinking alcohol, getting themselves addicted, and draining their funds dry on alcohol, all on the reg, because they’re so bored that literally poisoning themselves seems like fun. And society lets it go on, unchecked, because that’s the way it’s always been. It’s time that something changed.

I’m not saying that moderate drinking if you like the taste of alcohol is a bad thing. If you legitimately enjoy the taste of alcohol, drink in small amounts. That’s fine. But if that’s not the case, please change.

If you’re a parent drinking because of your kids, don’t. Learn to discipline them properly, and that kids are noisy and messy and imperfect.

If you’re going out to bars or pubs every night for fun, don’t. Get a hobby, or start a new project. Even just sitting in front of the TV is better than drinking.

If you’re addicted, or think you might be... seek help. Go to rehab. Get rid of your alcohol, and don’t buy more. Get rid of friends who might encourage you to start drinking again.

Society glamourizes alcohol, and it’s time to make that stop. Please, don’t glamourize alcohol and drinking. It ruins lives just as much as drugs, or smoking, or sex addiction. Spread the world. Stop! Glamourizing! Alcohol!

That’s all. To whoever’s reading this, good luck, and have a great day. :)

My little brother just said this exact sentence: “Or maybe you’ve been watching too much Supernatural and can’t stop thinking about Dean Winchester’s sexy abs.”

I do not know what to think.

• Use the hand you write with.

• Make a fist with your thumb outside, not tucked inside. If it’s tucked inside your fist, when you punch someone, you might break your thumb. The thumb goes across your fingers, not on the side.

• Don’t be like in the movies—don’t aim for the face. Face punches don’t usually stop people, and you can miss when they duck their head or break your hand on their jaw. If you want to get away quickly, or end a fight, aim for the chest, or the ribs. If you really want to do some damage, e.g., you’re being attacked, aim for the throat, which will make it hard for your attacker to breathe for a hot minute.

• When you punch, you want to aim and hit with your first two knuckles. Not the flats of your fingers, and not your ring or pinky knuckles, which can break more easily. You can use your weight, if you’re on your feet, to add wallop, and spring into a punch with your feet and torso.

This is my cat, Brigitte.

24 hours after I brought her home, I got a mindblowing job offer.  Since I adopted her nine years ago, my life has become an amusement park.  She has brought me good luck ever since I took her into my home.

I’m telling you, there’s something about this animal.  Good fortune follows her everywhere.

I don’t want to be selfish.  I have everything I need and then some.  So, I’m sharing her with you.

Reblog Brigitte and you’ll receive fantastic news in the next 24 hours.

And when you do, please remember to help your local SPCA and support them in the difficult work they do for wonder animals like Brigitte.  Any donation helps your SPCA, even if it’s just five bucks.

Kitties like Brigitte are counting on you to give back when they bring you good luck.

Thanks, and congratulations on your good news!

Hey, so, this might be an unpopular opinion, but no matter how bad the police are, anyway: Reform, not abolish.

A lot of people on Tumblr are talking about how awful the police are right now, and I'm not saying that no change needs to happen, but I recently saw a post outright calling to abolish the police force, and, well... That'd be a disaster. Guess who investigates when somebody's house is broken into? When somebody's pet is stolen, or somebody is kidnapped, or hell, in most cases, when somebody is hurt or killed? The police.

There definitely needs to be change. We need to change the way that police are trained all over the world, we need to fire all current police officers. But that's just to make way for a new era. And to prove it, I have a little ancedote for you all.

About a year ago, I (A 15 year old girl) was sexually abused and exploited by an older man online. I was 14 when I was coerced into sending nudes and doing sexual roleplay with this man for three months, and I had been groomed for two years prior. This man had a feeder/feedee kink, and my health still suffers for my unhealthy attitude towards food. I am hypersexual. June 22, 2020 is my one-year anniversary of getting out. Why am I telling you this?

Because the police helped.

They did what they could to find this pervert. They couldn't manage it, since he was in the USA and I live in the UK, but not for lack of trying. If there had been no police force to do that, I would be much further back in my recovery.

Granted, I might not fully understand. I am white. I'm not rich, but I'm not poor either (Well, my family is, anyway). I fully support the people protesting for their rights. I acknowledge that the police force needs to change. I acknowledge that police brutality exists. That the minorities that the police are abusing deserve better. But the way that people talk about the police, the military, and 'Bootlickers' really makes me nervous sometimes. We need a police force, in some capacity. Not the one we currently have, but something. So please: Call for reform, not abolishment.

Thanks.
