The walnut tree is connected to the planet Jupiter, and the Sun. It is of the fire and earth element. Its qualities are healing, fertility, love, and mental acuity.✨
🌱Carry the nuts to enhance fertility, and strengthen the heart.
🌱Wearing walnut leaves either as a crown or around a hat, is said to prevent headaches.
🌱There is a legend that in the Golden Age humans lived on acorns but the Gods lived on walnuts, hence the genus name Juglans (walnut) comes from ‘Jovis Glans,’ meaning nut of Jupiter.
🌱If you receive a gift of walnuts, your wishes will come true.
🌱A bride who desired to postpone childbearing would wear in her bodice as many roasted walnuts as years she wishes to avoid childbirth.
🌱There is a legend named, ‘The Witches of Benevento,’ which according to the medieval legend; beneath the famous ‘Tree of Benevento’ which is said to have been a walnut tree that stood on the banks of the Sabato River, was a place where witches from around the world gathered to perform pagan rituals. Barbatus, a Christian saint, had the walnut tree cut down in an effort to halt the pagan proceedings. Centuries later, the legend formed when reports of witches’ gatherings was circulating in Benevento. The gathering took place underneath a walnut tree that was believed to be the same tree Barbatus had cut down. The tree was rumored to re-appear on the nights of the witch’s sabbats,
🌱The fall equinox was the time to perform the yearly ritual of gathering walnuts in their green hulls. The fresh green rinds are peeled and added to healing salves.
🌱The husks and leaves of the walnut may be infused in boiled water, cooled, and poured on plants that are plagued by worms or other insect pests.
🌱The green unripe husks are antiseptic, germicidal, vermicidal, and a parasiticide.
🌱A wand from the wood of a walnut tree is great for spells involving astral travel, weather work, healing, and empowerment.
THE GERY WITCHES
San Marcos , Texas

Local folklore tells a story of a mother (Genevieve Gery) and her daughter (Isabelle) living along the San Marcos River between 1682 – 1691. The Gerys were charged with blasphemy, heresy, witchcraft and consorting with the devil. The women were taken from their trial to the place of execution where they were burned and hanged ..a gruesome end. Locals have supposedly heard the wailings of a woman near the San Marcos River headwaters, the suspected location of the Gery’s ruined cabin, since the days of San Marcos de Neve (1809-1812). It is believed their remains were interred near Eddie Durham Park since many have claimed to see their ghosts wandering the area nearby. Do you dare find the Gery Witches

I love music. More and more, I have been including music in my practice of witchcraft, simply by having a song in the background while cleansing or making kitchen magic, and singing or humming particular melodies in the shower, when I perform a spell or a ritual, etc. If you’re interested in music witchcraft, here are a few ideas to get you started.
–
🎵 Singing out loud is a really powerful practice that can help when performing difficult spells, or rituals that are energy-draining.
🎵 If you’re uncomfortable with singing, humming a melody is a good alternative. I love humming a simple, happy song while cleansing my home.
🎵 Charge your crystals, magical items and plants with soothing, dramatic and strengthening music.
🎵 If you can play any instrument, include them in your practice - by playing before, during or after your daily practice, for instance.
🎵 Sound playlists have their own power, especially if you’re working with the 4 elements:
🌱 Earth: listen to forest and nature sounds
🔥 Fire: listen to fire crackling
🌪️ Air: listen to birds chirping
🌊 Water: listen to ocean sounds and waves
🎵 Make very specific playlists on Spotify ; e.g. “Songs to dance around in your room by yourself”, or “Songs to listen when you’re angry about the world”. Having songs that reflect your feelings will be incredibly useful and can make you feel less alone in your happiness / or in your pain.
🎵 Bring back your inner child by listening to nostalgic playlists of songs that came out when you were 5, 10, 15 years old.

Here’s a great Spotify playlist with witchy music, if you’re interested.
When you read a chart, you want to first look at the condition of the planets. Are they domicile, exalted, in fall? Each condition means something different.
Domiciles (rulership) and exaltations are benefic in astrology, which means the planet is in good condition. Detriments and falls are malefic in astrology, which means the planet is in less than ideal condition. Aspects and houses do matter as well, but I’ll write about that another time.
A domicile is akin to a King in his castle. He’s most comfortable here, he rules the castle. An exaltation is slightly less benefic than a domicile, you can think of this as not being the ruler of the castle, but being in a five star hotel. The placement is comfortable and in good condition.
A detriment is akin to a King being exiled from his kingdom. He can’t get back in, so he has to go somewhere else. Learning and adapting is the only way to evolve placements in detriment. A fall is similar to being in a motel instead of a five star hotel, you can work your way up to going to the five star hotel. Fall placements are easier than detriment placements as they’re the lesser of the two malefic conditions.
Looking at the rulerships in a chart is a great way to figure out if there’s strong energy in one planet, weak energy in another, energy that could be a little “too much” or very influential in a chart, or energy that needs to be worked on. For instance, a Saturn in Detriment may have issues with responsibility and need to work on it to have more control over their lives.
Sun (luminary)- Domicile Leo, Exaltation Aries, Detriment Aquarius, Fall Libra. Ruled by Apollo.
Moon (luminary)- Domicile Cancer, Exaltation Taurus, Detriment Capricorn, Fall Scorpio. Ruled by Artemis.
Mercury- Domicile Virgo & Gemini, Exaltation Virgo, Detriment Sagittarius & Pisces, Fall Pisces. Ruled by Hermes.
Venus- Domicile Taurus & Libra, Exaltation Pisces, Detriment Scorpio & Aries, Fall Virgo. Ruled by Aphrodite.
Mars- Domicile Aries & Scorpio, Exaltation Capricorn, Detriment Libra & Taurus, Fall Cancer. Rules by Ares.
Jupiter- Domicile Sagittarius & Pisces, Exaltation Cancer, Detriment Gemini & Virgo, Fall Capricorn. Ruled by Zeus.
Saturn- Domicile Capricorn & Aquarius, Exaltation Libra, Detriment Cancer & Leo, Fall Aries. Ruled by Cronus.
*Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are not as influential in a chart (and were not used in traditional astrology) unless heavily or harshly aspected, but I’ll talk about that in another post
Uranus- Domicile Aquarius, Exaltation Scorpio, Detriment Leo, Fall Taurus. Ruled by Uranus.
Neptune- Domicile Pisces, Exaltation Cancer, Detriment Virgo, Fall Capricorn. Ruled by Posideon.
Pluto- Domicile Scorpio, Exaltation Aries, Detriment Taurus, Fall Libra. Ruled by Hades.
North Node- Exalted Gemini, Fall Sagittarius
South Node- Exalted Sagittarius, Fall Gemini

The thing is, we change. We are not the same person we were five years ago. Hel, a lot of us are not even the same people we were last week. We change, and our beliefs, favourites, thoughts and the way we see ourselves changes with it.
The same is true for our witchraft, religion and spiritual beliefs. This is why I have a list of question that I like to answer for myself every couple of years. I first started this when I came across a list of questions by Juniper from Walking the Hedge (site no longer in use) in 2008, yes, over ten years ago. Every few years I filled in the questions and looked back at the answers I gave before. Some never changed, some changed quite a lot.
When our coven started a new lesson plan, I gave out the list of questions as well. We sealed our answers in envelopes and plan to fill them in again, once we finish our lessons. Then open the envelopes and look at the answers side by side. To see how we have changed.
I looked at the list last week and found it actually lacking a bit. The questions were very deity- and spiritual based, so I was missing some more questions about my personality and witchcraft. So I decided to make my own list of questions!
Since I wanted to make this more a weekly journaling/grimoire prompt for myself I put together 52 questions. These can be answered weekly (maybe every year) or you can work through the list in one go and repeat that every few years or so.
Some notes on the wording: I consider myself both a witch and a pagan, but to keep it easier to read I only used wording like “witch” and “witchcraft”, they can however be substituted for “pagan”, “paganism” or even “my path”, should that fit you better. When I talk about “sacred space” this can both mean a ritual space like a temple or casting of a circle, but also just your home or outdoors witchy environment.
I’d love it if you would tag anything you feel comfortable with posting online with the tag #writeyourwitchcraft!

I keep veggie peelings, cuttings, herb clippings and all other veggie compost in a freezer bag in your freezer for up to a month. At the end of every month I dump this bag into my crockpot, add 6-8 cups of water and cook on low for 6 hours. I drain out the veggies and herbs, and viola! You have like 8 cups of veggie broth.
I save things from veggies like: celery, garlic, onion, carrots, kale, squash, parsnips, peppers, etc. Basically any vegetable that would go into a soup, I save.
I also save bits of herbs that don’t make it into other recipes, or veggies about to go bad I have no other intention for. It’s an amazing way to cut back on costs and food waste. This stock can make enough soup to feed a whole family, or you can freeze it if you are only feeding yourself and thaw as needed.
You can customize with herbs and spices now, or when you go to make your soups. I like to at least toss in garlic, onions, a bay leaf, pepper and rosemary to the broth itself.
I havent bought soup broth in years, and I can make sure my broth is salt free or at least low salt!
It’s such a simple thing to do, and its noticable in your food budget.
