since you lot didn't mind the really rough version, I'll give the version with a rough background the light of day too 🙂↕️
throwing this out here too because why not 🙏
Photobomb doodles because this duo is very dear to me!
my personal hc is that the driving motive behind Makima’s mistreatment of Angel (and to a larger extent Denji) was jealousy
Makima is unable to form her own connections as the control devil, which is why she fabricates other’s affections towards her. At the end of the day Makima is lonely and craves emotional intimacy that she is unable to achieve.
Angel on the other hand, was immediately accepted and adored the moment he was put onto earth by the villagers. Emotional intimacy with humans was something that was natural to him even with his power, and only when Makima took him to public safety did he change.
I think that when Makima discovered that a devil that was both below her and had an ability that was lethal to humans was actively loved by them, she acted out of jealousy which led to Angel killing the villagers. The fact that Angel was able to have the one thing she couldn’t despite her believing her status as a devil was one that was superior to him was likely unfathomable to her.
Later on when Angel became close with Aki, Makima had doubled down on the spell she had over Aki not just because it would get her close to her main goal, but because it was a way for her to show Angel that she was above him in some weird way. Controlling him showed that she could win a human’s affection over Angel—even if completely fabricated. Given that Angel was also one of the chainsaw devil’s worshippers, the control devil might’ve also resented the angel devil for having some of the appreciation that she craved from the chainsaw devil (I think that also goes hand in hand with Denji because she probably wasn’t too happy about Pochita liking Denji more over her either 😭)
Basically I think Makima treated Angel like shit for so long because she resented his ability to form emotional, intimate connections with others. She might’ve also wanted his power given how she kept spamming 1000 years during her fight with Denji.
didnt even realize how hard those swirly things were to draw until i tried…. horis insane
Dynamic posing is hard
Sk8 OVA has thrown me back into the pit 😔
Thinking about Aki, Denji and their love for Makima-
How the two of them got saved by Makima- She saved Denji by taking him out of the gory warehouse, giving him an actual meal, good clothes and a home; and she saved Aki by (reasons we don't know)
How their behavior is different towards her- Denji has sexual and romantic desires about her, and even expressed his said desires once. While Aki keeps a politeful distance towards her and doesn't express the same desires as Denji.
How they both had people who genuinely loved them and could offer them more than Makima- Himeno and Angel, who genuinely cared for Aki and wished to keep him safe, and Reze, who had a connection with Denji due to their shared identities as illiterate children forced to become weapons and wished to run away with him. And yet, Both Denji and Aki wasn't able to reciprocate their feelings of love and care because they were gone before they could express anything.
How unbeknownst to them, Makima desired someone else, and played them both to get to that someone- Pochita. She took Denji in just to break him down and force Pochita out of his body, and she used Aki to be the set piece that breaks him down.
There's probably more thoughts I have about this but this is all I have right now
Always thinking about what was going through Makima's mind when she found Angel Devil and saw his connection to the village.
An incarnation of Chainsaw Man's follower found a home with humans where he's treated like family unlike her, despite the deadly power he has over them as a devil.
A devil who can both instantly end those he touches, approaches him and wield them as his own tool, an extension of himself.
What does that mean for the Hero of Hell and for her? Everything she could ever want is right in the hands of this follower undisturbed, out of her reach.
The possibility of her dream playing out before her, but she is only a dog. What if he's a dog too?
On that note, thinking about what's going through her mind as she watches Angel Devil siphon the villagers' lifespans. Dark vindication? Pity? Disappointment because she's curious to see if their bond outclasses her control?
Her telling Angel he has a good power to add insult to injury to cement his status as a devil, or consolation because this is his true nature? Maybe all of the above?
CW: external/internal facial scarring.
How do we feel about Jim’s dialogue being ‘green with envy’ ?
They way MW plays with colour and character is one of my fav things bout the storytelling..
Also idk why i keep rendering this way, it’s such a pain in the butt. Sketches are much better for my lil monkey brain but then i keep obsessing over these kinds of things like… brain, make it make sense.
your babysitter grabs your markers and doodles csm characters what do you do
doodling the supporting characters of all time 🗣️🗣️
creative liberties taken as always, we're drawing for fun here!
Thinking about how Denji and Angel Devil were kept in the dark about how they killed their own family until they lost someone they care about to Makima and have it be her proof to them about why they can't truly be loved. Because they're devils who killed those they loved. They can't have a family.
"I'm a devil first, angel second." 🪽
I absolutely fell in love with Chainsaw Man recently ⛓️
