DRAGONFRUIT NIGHTWING
Ty @aeg3an + @seagulltheseawing for the fruit Wof dragon idea! ^^
I think someone should do a pineapple leafwing next! ^^
Here's prickle! My curious boy! ^^ hope you like him, I've started a new lineart style! I think I'm happy with him ^^
This is hummingbird, my new Fruitwing oc!! (She’s actually a recycled oc but eh-)
She is trans-female, which you can see in her coloring, and is a somewhat strange dragon. She’s thinner than most Fruitwings and her tail is particularly skinny and longer than normal. To most other Fruitwings she looks sickly at first sight. Her name itself is also quite strange, “hummingbird”, it doesn’t go by most fruitwing naming conventions, and many she meets have trouble remembering her name, some more traditional dragons refuse to call her that at all. Though some dragons have trouble first meeting her, it doesn’t stop her from forming good connections with her tribe, and she is actually considered quite beautiful to other fruitwings.
Her scales and horns are her pride and joy. She cleans the twice a day-daily and avoids damaging them as much as possible to keep them from fogging or dimming. Her scales have a beautiful shine to them, almost opal like in appearance. Colors shift across her body depending on what angle you look at her from. Her horns are almost like ivory, gleaming like pearls. She cleans and oils her beak regularly and she never eats messily.
Almost contradictory to that, she works at her villages only daycare, doing arts and crafts with the dragonets there. She is immensely patient with them and wants to have her own dragonets one day. But she struggles with her perfectionism, and can get quite firm with them is they mess up any materials, leader forbid her scales. As desperately as she wants a mate and dragonets, she doesn’t think she’s ready for it. For now, the daycare is enough for her.
I hope you guys like her!! I had an absolute blast experimenting with a more painterly style for her!! And her colors were so fun to mess around with ^^
She’s actually a lot more colorful in her full-body, but I haven’t had a chance to get to that yet ^^* I hope to tho
I hope you guys like this, @Insert-name for the species inspiration, and I’d love to see any of y’all’s ideas for the tribe, or possibly ocs?? 👀 but anyway, love yall, hope you have a great rest of your- er- year, week, day, night? whatever
See yall hopefully soon! ^^ 🫶
Silly Game Time: Would you rather spend a year's worth of nights sleeping in a bed that's too short for you to stretch out on … or with zero pillows?
Zero pillows instantly, I can live with no pillows. I need my leg room, my knees lock up and they get sore
Sure sounds great! ^^ I’ll start when you are able to get a better pic! ^^
Im gonna do a lil challenge where I turn characters/ppl into Wof dragons! ^^ what do y’all think I should do first??
Silly Game Time: Do you often remember your dreams? What's a dream that you do particularly remember?
Myself, I almost never do. But I do remember one where I wandered around an empty, medieval city wearing a tailcoat tuxedo and carrying a yellow rose.
Uh there's this one where there was a zombie apocalypse and I had to jumt down a long flight of stairs. I ended up tripping when I reached the bottom then a racoon furry told me to co e with him.
Oop ykw? U right. I wasn't entirely aware of the events in the books bc I haven't read them in a while but that was my fault for not doing research.
But my point still stands. I don't think that rainwings being responsible of their dragonets would be reasonable or good for both the parent and the dragonet considering their history of slacking off. And rainwing dragonets presumably are able to care for themselves despite being so young, which would explain why no dragon was worried when dragonets were going missing. While they are lazy they still have feelings and it would make sense if rainwings could care for themselves at a young age and having the ability to help themselves. I feel like if any dragon knew what was going on in the night kingdom they would be horrified and would want to help. Just because their lazy doesn't mean they don't care for eachother, they just don't know how to help other in that sort of way because usually everyone cares for themselves without any help. Why would you try and take over another dragons free will when they can do so much by themselves?
This was also to introduce the theory of rainwings maturing early. It would make sense considering their habitat and the other rainwings faith of dragonets being able to take care of themselves, because they understand that they can figure out things for themselves rather quckly.
Ok but you know what my issue is with queen glory making rainwings take care of their dragonets is? The fact that they probably evolved this method of keeping the eggs in large groups with no specifc caretakers for many, many years and she's trying to reverse it in one dragon lifetime. Rainwings most likely have to mature early due to their hostile and potentially dangerous environment. Giving them specific caretakers also might not make them less independent over time, and less mature which would make the rainforest a even more dangerous place for an inexpirienced dragonet. She doesn't understand why rainwing dragonets are hatched in groups with no specific parents because she wasn't raised in one. Rainwings probably don't have specific parents because they learn from the accounts of other older dragons and use that as reference in their own life, instead of only having one account to go off of they determine themselves what accounts to use and which ones not to. And because of their likely faster maturity it wouldn't make sense to have a specific caretaker when they would fully mature in 3-4 years and would be independent enough to care for themselves possibly even younger. And yeah the rainwings aren't taking care of their eggs but that is a very easy fix, rather than assigning specific caretakers to each dragonet they could, you know, just make them actually take care of them?? I don't think having glory push her ideals upon the other well cultured dragons because she doesn't like them is extremely unnecessary and a bit egotistical. She should be able to learn about the tribe she's ruling and fugure out the traditions and reasons behind each one, and then figure out how to ethically go about changing their ingrained behavior because that's what a good queen does. That my issue with glory being queen, especially two tribes. Because she has no experience with either of them, or at leat not enough to properly rule them. Not to mention she's barely just reached full adult hood. Just because she's fully mature doesn't mean she's an adult with experience. Not to mention she quite literally been living under a rock he whole life.
