I've got this dumb little headcanon that Nightshade is very sensitive to impurities in the water or energon they consume, and so if there is any contamination to a batch of energon, Nightshade lets them know by coughing it up as a pellet, like owls do.

The first time it happens, they just hear Nightshade start coughing, and then suddenly it just falls out and everyone's asking Nightshade why they've been eating rocks-

I just like imagining them talking to each other about anythiiiiiing. They are loud and hard to read, but they move their hands around and can loudly talk about battle strategies for hours…to their neighbors’ dismay of course.
