It’s point was to take pip from being the optimistic ‘good girl’ who believed in the rules to the pip we see in as good as dead who when faced with the decision between escape with her life or kill her future rapist and murderer so that he couldn’t ever hurt any girl again chose to fucking kill him. The second book was personally the most necessary book in the entire series because without it pip would not have been able to grow and become the pip that we all love so much and it’s just so frustrating to see all these people just completely miss the fucking point
