TW: so much angst it’ll prolly hurt

You found it impossible to catch your breath as the night dragged on Katsuki only lingered closer and closer. If you went to the bar, he did too. When Mina pulled you on to the dance floor, he stood at its edge talking to a pretty Blonde- his eyes still on you as her hand playfully nudged his shoulder. It was suffocating, but intoxicating all the same.

Knowing his eyes were set on you and not the drop dead gorgeous woman begging for his attention made you feel alive. It was weird to suddenly want him to see you in a crowd of strangers, but it was also fun for you to purposely slip through the crowd and watch him impatiently look for you. Every time he’d find you again, his jaw would tighten and your grin would grow wider. This was fun.

“Hey! We’re probably heading out!” Mina calls, leaning closer to your bouncing frame so you could hear her over the chaos. “You staying again or you good to drive yourself home!?”

“I haven’t had anything to drink in a while, I can drive!” You had driven separately and had planned to drive yourself home anyway. Plus with Katsukis burning gaze, you figured even if you planned to leave with Mina he’d find a way to stop you. “This was so fun! We should go out again soon!”

The two of you part ways after you’ve left the dance floor, her boyfriend offering you a wave as they head toward the exit. Seeing the way his eyes soften and his smile beams down at her makes you wither in jealously. You hadn’t exactly been trying to fall in love, but the idea of it was still nice and you wished you had found it.

The city was buzzing as you entered the sidewalk, laughing friends and honking cars filling your ears as you make the short walk to the parking lot where you’d parked. Luckily Kirishima knew someone who’d saved you close parking spots so you didn’t have to walk the usual blocks to leave, something your aching feet were thankful for. Wearing heels wasn’t ever a smart option, it was just always the cutest.

“You better slow down before you trip!” The sound of Katsukis mocking comes from behind you, causing you to turn your head just as you reached for your door handle. He looked irritated, annoyed and godly approaching you in short, determined strides. “You had your fun, now let’s talk.”

His body settles in front of you, between your car and his you hadn’t noticed had been right beside yours. He must’ve done it on purpose, he’d been persistently trying to talk to you even before he showed up. It was probably his plan to trap you like this, seeing as a cocky smirk now played at his lips.

“No thanks.” The confidence you’d felt teasing him earlier vanishes, his closeness alone causing turmoil in your chest. “Have a nice night.”

“Can’t leave without your keys.” He laughs, holding his hand up to dangle the keys you now knew he’d taken from your purse at some point to ensure his plan would go according. “No keys if you don’t tell me what this issue is.”

“There is no issue.” You lie, hugging yourself to attempt to shield the exposed skin from the biting night air. “I’m gonna freeze, can you not do this?”

“Take my jacket and answer me.” Of course he’d thought out a solution to the only logical escape you could think of. He’s removing and offering you his zip up before you can even protest. “This cat and mouse shit you’ve been playing at all night isn’t as fun for me as it was for you.”

“No clue what you mean.” You shrug into the jacket, immediately letting his familiar scent calm your anxious thoughts. “I was dancing with my friend, you were staring at me like a creep.”

“Like I couldn’t tell you were doing it on purpose, I’ve know you for years. I’ve learned your tendencies fairly well- you were doing it to fuck with me.”

He wasn’t wrong, but you’d never admit he was right. It’s embarrassing how entertaining you found his constant watching and the growing irritation he didn’t even try to hide. Your dancing alone was enough to make any man stare, but the playful gleam in your eyes nearly brought Katsuki to his knees. Painfully.

“Whatever Kats, I need to get home.” More like wanted to desperately. His eyes stare into yours, his head tilting challengingly as you reach for your keys. His hand pulls back just as your fingertips brush the metal, earning a groan as you pull back. “Give me my damn keys!”

“Make me.”

It was a challenge, his eyes hardening as you reach again, stepping closer to try to get any sort of advantage. After a few missed swipes, your chests brush and he falters for a single second, his chest heaving as you finally snatch the keys. The moment the keys are in your hands, his hands find your back and pull you flush against him. Holding you in place to prevent you from running from the conversation like you had been all week.

“Tell me what I did so I can fix it.” The warmth from his palms has started an uprising in your stomach. Every butterfly known to man rejoicing eagerly. “The class? Those girls in your seat? Tell me, because I’m sick of the distant look in your eyes.”

“Kats-.” Your palms flatten against his chest for merely a second before the concrete below you rumbles softly. An earth quake? Shaking your head, you inhale deeply to finally come clean and hopefully settle the tension building between you. “When I stayed up that night I stayed at your place, I was planning on telling you I-.”

His grip tightens, your words cutting short as another soft ripple of vibration rattles below. Now!? Really!?

“Ignore it.” His brows were pulled together, his eyes locking with yours as your hand grips the fabric of his shirt to steady yourself from yet another rumble. “Continue, this conversation will be had before I handle what ever that is.”

“No, you should really go.” Especially considering the shaking ground below you was getting increasingly more unstable with every second that passed. “We can talk tomorrow, after you save the city.”

The echos of faint screams come from the distance, creating an eerie feeling that settles goosebumps across your skin. Still, his grip remained tight and his body made no effort to remove itself from yours. Could he really ignore whatever was happing simply because you’d wanted to speak to him days ago?

“You enjoyed it. Didn’t you? Getting all my attention and knowing your little game had been playing with my head.” One of his arm falls to place firmly against the hood of his car as you sway once again. The movement pulled you with it, your feet falling between his and giving him the perfect position to dip his head just enough to send shivers down your spine. “You loved being the center of my entire world in there. Knowing that I was ignoring that girl so I could keep my eyes on you and you alone. Please, tell me I’m wrong?”

“I-I don’t know, maybe.” You shove at his chest, hearing him vocalize exactly how you’d felt was embarrassing even though it had been obvious. With a foot of distance between you, you look in the direction the screams continue to flow from. “But it doesn’t matter, does it? You’ll have someone to keep you busy by tomorrow, will you not?”

He’d had an influx in dates recently, and now that you had come to terms with the way you felt it made you sick every time you thought about it. Not once but twice now had he not come home while you were at his place because of these random dates. You hated it, and with your spiteful accusation in the air you didn’t dare look in his direction.

“So, what? You expect me to stop seeing people because you’re finally available?” Now he was spitting spiteful words at you, returning the jealousy laced tone you’d just given him. “I’ve been waiting, you only seem to be single long enough for me to get my damn hopes up.”

What was he talking about? Had he felt like this longer than you had? You’d only just begun to realize your feelings, but his retort seemed to lift more ease off his shoulders like it’d been weighing him down far longer than you could’ve ever thought.

“Dynamite!” The unfamiliar voice calling his hero name seemed to snap him back to reality, his eyes widening as your body struggles to move away- give him space to deal with the man still calling for him from the other side of the parking lot. “Could use some extra hands!”

“I’ve got to go.” He clears his voice, refusing to look in your direction. “Get home safe, and forget what I said.”

“No, wait I-.” He ignores your pleasing, blasting off a few feet away and leaving your conversation half had. “Fuck.”

That night you sat in bed watching the news coverage of the fight he’d accidentally been called to. You could see he was moving slower, not able to put as much power into his blasts. You could decide if it was because he’d lent you his jacket, that you hugged tightly around yourself- or if he’d been so upset with your conversation he couldn’t concentrate.

Either way, you knew you were to blame and sent him a quick ‘I’m sorry’ that made your heart sink and tears fall. He’d blocked your number.

seros been eyeing you up all night- he does it everytime mina brings you along to one of their house partys- minas pretty coworker.

eventually- after catching sero staring for the eighth time that night, mina asks you why you won’t go for it “refuse to be one of hantas whores-” maybe it’s the way you slur when you say it, or the way the words kind of play together but your quip forces you and mina into fits of giggles and the topic is quickly forgotten.

when sero overhears it he can’t even fight the frown it sets on his face- a punch to the gut. sure, maybe he had a bit of a reputation but it’s not like that with you? had you truly thought his constant compliments and lost stares were purely just because he wanted in your pants?

and maybe that’s a part of it- infact it definitely is. but sero hasn’t been able to think of anyone but you while he fucks his fist for months and he knows that has to mean something.

Imagine Hawks confiding in Endeavor that he’s been sleeping with one of the League members and Endeavor is like “Whatever you have to do to get information, do it.” and then later realizes that he was encouraging Hawks to go fuck his son 💀💀💀
