New Windows AI feature records everything you’ve done on your PC

Recall uses AI features "to take images of your active screen every few seconds."

I think every computer user needs to read this because holy fucking shit this is fucking horrible.

So Windows has a new feature incoming called Recall where your computer will first, monitor everything you do with screenshots every couple of seconds and "process that" with an AI.

Hey, errrr, fuck no? This isn't merely because AI is really energy intensive to the point that it causes environmental damage. This is because it's basically surveilling what you are doing on your fucking desktop.

This AI is not going to be on your desktop, like all AI, it's going to be done on another server, "in the cloud" to be precise, so all those data and screenshot? They're going to go off to Microsoft. Microsoft are going to be monitoring what you do on your own computer.

Now of course Microsoft are going to be all "oooh, it's okay, we'll keep your data safe". They won't. Let me just remind you that evidence given over from Facebook has been used to prosecute a mother and daughter for an "illegal abortion", Microsoft will likely do the same.

And before someone goes "durrr, nuthin' to fear, nuthin to hide", let me remind you that you can be doing completely legal and righteous acts and still have the police on your arse. Are you an activist? Don't even need to be a hackivist, you can just be very vocal about something concerning and have the fucking police on your arse. They did this with environmental protesters in the UK. The culture war against transgender people looks likely to be heading in a direction wherein people looking for information on transgender people or help transitioning will be tracked down too. You have plenty to hide from the government, including your opinions and ideas.

Again, look into backing up your shit and switching to Linux Mint or Ubuntu to get away from Microsoft doing this shit.

I want you to imagine yourself, fifty years from now, sitting with your grandchildren. Imagine them asking you “what did you do during the Gazan Genocide?” What will you say? What you might not know is that Mohiy himself is very sick. He told me himself that he recently had an MRI to diagnose a tumor in his pancreas, and now needs surgery to remove his spleen. Dealing with these illnesses is difficult enough for those of us lucky enough to live in peaceful countries; in a warzone Mohiy’s task is nothing short of horrific. I know pancreatic cancer is a difficult disease, but with our help, I believe Mohiy can beat it.

Dear compassionate souls, I come to you with a heavy heart, burdened by our story, our lives shattered by the ongoing onslaught of violence in Gaza. Since the beginning of October we have been suffering from terrible conditions and difficulties. Living in Gaza is terrifying during these times, bombs are constantly falling and our lives are in danger. Our house was completely destroyed and we were forced us to move from khanyounis to el mawwasi with minimal personal belongings. I am Ahmed Al-Agha, 25 years old, a graduate of media and mass communication from Al-Azhar University in Gaza. I was a volunteer in the Public Relations Department at the University of Gaza. Due to the difficulty of jobs in the Gaza Strip, I had to register for a professional diploma in culinary arts, but I did not complete it due to the terrible war. After my father passed away in 2021, life pushed me to grow up early and take responsibility for my family, including my mother (samah), my brother(omar)and my three sisters,abla 20years old,yomna17years old and jody 9years old. I dream of owning a small restaurant in order to support my beautiful family. She has courses in drawing. The characters: Her dream is to create her own art gallery and to study at the College of Fine Arts. Jody, my little sister, is 9 years old. She is smart and beautiful. She worked and dreams of becoming a model in the future and has the talent of acting. She participated in an advertisement for a bridal chalet and was the heroine of the advertisement. I felt very happy to participate in the advertisement. She suffered from severe psychological disorders at the beginning of the war after she saw several children dispersed as a result of the bombing of the house opposite ours. A girl's life goes from good to worse in a matter of months. Life is really strange,

In moments, all your conditions go from good to worse than bad. I think that what I regret most is that I did not photograph every corner of my house, I did not photograph every detail in the house, I did not photograph every joy we lived in this house. I was under the illusion that there was no need to photograph it because it would remain and nothing would happen to it. All we imagined was our life in it until death. It never occurred to us for a moment that it might disappear and become a pile of rubble. These are some of the pictures I took in my house and my family’s beautiful house.

This is all that remains of our house, and they are memories, some of which are beautiful and some of which are sad, but they are just memories. After living in this house for 25 years, I grew up and was raised in this house and lived in it every moment of my life. I was happy when I got married and when my family was in the most beautiful pictures of love and friendship, and I was sad when I left my parents’ house for my husband’s house. The house lived in my heart, but unfortunately, in this war, nothing remained of it and they demolished it in an instant and presented my husband’s and my house as if there was nothing here. They erased my house and my parents’ house and all the beautiful memories in it and it became just rubble on the ground. We go to it every now and then because even though it is rubble, I am still attached to it.

Then comes a strange feeling after this. You are in your city (Khan Yunis) and you cannot return to your home. You cannot return to your place because you cannot live inside the rubble. We settled in the summer in a small, exhausting tent that you cannot enter except to sleep. It was not originally ours. Our friends gave us this place to sit in temporarily after they saw that we did not have a place and that we had unfortunately become like homeless people.

We always thank God that there is something surrounding me and my family, even if it is a tent, from a beautiful and spacious house to a small tent that can barely accommodate us. The war did not only destroy our homes and dreams, but it also destroyed our youth. When I look at my old photos on my phone, I cry for myself, my family, my people, and everything we have achieved here.

These are some old photos that I love and that are really me away from the war, the sun, carrying water and living in tents. I put more than one photo because I miss myself before the war and I love these photos very much and I wanted to share them with you. Because of the tent life, most of the time all that surrounds you is the sun and because of the lack of water, I go to a far place to carry water here under the sun, so my face and body become like someone who is 60 years old and not a young woman in her twenties.

My children and I lived under bombardment and aggression. We had a safe home full of dreams and a bright future for my daughters.

But everything changed when the war on Gaza began. Our house, which we built with strength and effort before the war, was destroyed.

We lost our job, which was our only source of income. The journey of displacement and moving from one place to another began without the minimum necessities of life. We faced difficulties in providing healthy food and clean water. We lived in fear and terror. My daughters could no longer sleep from the intensity of fear.

My mother-in-law suffers from serious lung infections and chronic diseases, and we find it difficult to provide appropriate treatment for her, especially in the winter and the bitter cold. She is part of our family after losing her husband. We are now without shelter, moving from one place to another, and struggling to survive. Today we have no income, no life, and no work. We are determined to rebuild our dreams, secure our future, and rebuild our home. We cannot do this alone and we need your help in building our lives.
