when I tell you I cried--
sorry i’m physically incapable of embarking upon a (relatively large) artistic endeavor without taking huge amounts of PROGRESS PICS so here have these i guess
you know what i’m obsessed with lately? sketchy-ass portraits that eventually look.... fine
can’t tell if this looks stupid or if it looks cool so i’m gonna just post it while i still think it looks cool
post by @shrimpmilf; i am but one girl who saw this post the other day & laughed so hard & so long that i was frankly a little concerned about what my sense of humor has mutated into. anyway. have this, internet, or at least the small sector of it that will see this post. you’re welcome.
potato-preparing the nibs
this process to prepare nibs basically removes the protective layer of oil from the calligraphy nibs. the oil causes the ink to not flow properly, so you make this potato satellite.
became a she-ra stan while i was gone
(requests are open, if you like my work!)
things i did that forced me to be a better artist:
used a reference for everything
thinner line art (you think thats thin? go thinner….)
sketch, then do a cleaner sketch, THEN start finalizing
THUMBNAILS
color research, picking a set palette or light/dark for each work
you like that pose? redo it one more time
USE A DAMN REFERENCE
do not rely on stylization as an excuse for anatomy
draw the goddamn background you coward
just draw the hand- a bad hand is better than a hidden hand
the rule of thirds WORKS
take a considerable break between sketch and lines/paint
know that art takes longer as you get better at it
draw the seams on clothes
stop aiming for accuracy and focus on fluidity and motion, accuracy will come with practice of those two concepts
just…do the chiaroscuro. just DO IT. no excuses it always works
stop making excuses, make yourself an art schedule/set weekly(or daily) art goals and just DO IT.
hi everyone! in the past, challenges like inktober have been great at getting me to practice and improve my art, and this year I wanted to be really motivated so I made myself a prompt list! and I can’t wait to illustrate my friends and favorite memories with these warm-hearted prompts!
(if you’re also a big sap like me and want to use some of these, feel free, I’d love to see them, tag me!)

Welcome to Flourish Magazine, an online zine created by @technicoloroses/ @highlitvrs.
What Is FM?
Flourish Magazine is a space for young creators to share their work and their voice with the world around them.
Who can work on the zine?
Any author, poet, or artist under the age of eighteen can contribute! Work from all three of these mediums will be featured in the magazine!
We will also need editors! This is pretty self-explanatory, but their role will be to give authors feedback on their work and suggest ways to improve it.
Finally, we need graphic designers! These are the people that will be formatting our magazine! They will need to be able to work with issuu, as that is where our magazine will be shared.
How Do I Sign Up?
