The last public appearance of the late Shuhada' Sadaqat (Sinéad O'Connor).
"Let’s just say that, on a human level, nobody with any sanity, including myself, would have anything but sympathy for the Palestinian plight. There’s not a sane person on earth who in any way sanctions what the fuck the Israeli authorities are doing."
white gays need to read up on pinkwashing and homonationalism before ever even thinking about opening their mouths talking about homophobia/transphobia in the global south
If you haven't heard a National March on Washington in solidarity with Palestine is being planned for Nov. 4. If you can't make it (like me) consider donating to ANSWER Coalition to cover transportation costs for buses to help get as many people to the march as possible.
the thing about the us empire is that no matter how evil you know it to be, it is in fact even more evil than that. like the sheer amount of tragedy that has been facilitated for the purposes of maintaining this nation is genuinely unfathomable. and obviously that’s true of all empires, but since i do happen to live here, it’s an unavoidable truth i must contend with from moment to moment. and it’s sickening
Tyre Nichols was loved by his community and was known to be gentle, kind, and joyful. He loved skating and was originally from the Bay Area in California. He was known as someone “you know when he comes through the door he wants to give you a hug” and that “he wouldn’t hurt a fly.”
“He had never been in trouble with the law, not even a parking ticket. He was an honest man, a wonderful son, and kind to everyone. He was quirky and true to himself, and his loss will be felt nationally.”
Palestine will be free in our lifetime 🇵🇸🍉🕊️ Don't look away, and let's keep supporting Palestine in any way we can.
you arent going to be capable of any meaningful kind of solidarity with anyone if your response to new perspectives or information is to pretend you already knew.
if you cant say things like “i hadnt thought about it that way” or “thats a good point” (or even, god forbid “thanks for checking me on that”) when theyre appropriate, consider whether youre actually interested in developing your understanding or if youre just invested in your political self image.
Glad Zionists think these are acceptable things to write about and say aloud so we don’t have to waste our time going back and forth with “it’s just about hamas!” arguments. It was never just about hamas
Duolingo Sucks, Now What?: A Guide
Now that the quality of Duolingo has fallen (even more) due to AI and people are more willing to make the jump here are just some alternative apps and what languages they have:
Busuu (Languages: Spanish, Japanese, French, English, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Polish, Turkish, Russian, Arabic, Korean)
Language Transfer (Languages: French, Swahili, Italian, Greek, German, Turkish, Arabic, Spanish, English for Spanish Speakers)
Pimsleur (Literally so many languages)
Glossika (Also a lot of languages, but minority languages are free)
*anecdote: I borrowed my brother's Japanese Pimsleur CD as a kid and I still remember how to say the weather is nice over a decade later. You can find the CDs at libraries and "other" places I'm sure.
Mango (Languages: So many and all endangered/Indigenous courses are free even if you don't have a library that has a partnership with Mango)
AnkiDroid: (Theoretically all languages, pre-made decks can be found easily)
AnkiApp: It's almost as good as AnkiDroid and free compared to the official Anki app for iphone
lingory
ChineseSkill (You can use their older version of the course for free)
Bunpo: (Languages: Japanese, Spanish, French, German, Korean, and Mandarin)
