serious harry potter question

if somebody dies and has a wizard portrait made of them, does that portrait become like a ghost, or is the portrait independently sentient and the person does whatever vague afterlifey things are canon in the hp universe? if so, by making a wizard portrait of yourself, aren’t you making another separate you? and would the portrait be aware that it wasn’t 100% you, or at least wasn’t the original?

this has been today’s dose of horrifying existentialism born of thinking too hard about harry potter

guys, please keep pakistan in your prayers. this monday (13/02/17), there was a suicide attack in lahore that killed 13 people and injured over 100. yesterday, a bomb exploded in peshawar. and a short while ago, there was a terrorist attack in sindh that killed at least 50 people. 

it seems we’ve been thrown back into the days when we wake up every morning with fear over where the terrorists will strike next and worry ourselves to exhaustion over our safety and the safety of our loved ones and people at large. 

please keep pakistan in your prayers tonight.
