My last say on this matter. Mackie was talking about the way white fans fetish Sam Wilson and his relationship with Bucky. The way you all go amd write fan five on how Sam is some magical negro only there to comfort Bucky and to fuck him into the mattress is fetish and explosive. The way you all ever write Sam as this manly man top who has a high sex drive is exploitive. Mackie is talking about how straight and lgbtq black people can never deviate from a certain stereotype without being fetishes. Mackie is talking about how black men were called gay as a slur because they showed feelings. Mackie is talking about how he wants to break the norms that not just gay men can be sensitive and caring to male companions.
White lgbtq/striaght who are mad will never understand what it is like to be a black person who can only ever show one emotion and get judged if the deviate from it. Mackie so clearly wants gay men to have representation but knows that his relationship with bucky and Sebastian is not the representation he is giving.
White fans who are angry need to step back and ask why your so quick to demonize a black man who is trying to break down toxic masculinity in black culture

so let me say,
i’m gonna watch s3 because i’ve been on the train this long & i need to see how the story ends for all my lil babies @ creekwood. however, i really need studios to stop giving us more cis, white men as romantic interests for our leading men of color.
rahim is my son and i want the absolute world for him this season (even if that’s w/o victor). that’s all.

listen. benji and victor don’t have chemistry & season 2 proved that. benji’s storyline was sort of random? he never apologized to victor or isabel about how he handled that argument? he danced at one game and i’m supposed to praise him for being a great boyfriend?
“we spent a whole season with victor & benji”…..so? that’s like saying “well that’s how it was, so it should just stay the same!!!” this is damaging rhetoric. time means nothing. i fall in love with people every other day. just because you’ve spent a lot of time with someone doesn’t mean you know anything about them. i don’t feel any closer to benji than i did in the first season.
also idk i just can’t ever truly relate to the white, masc, cis gay, (upper) middle class character w/ his pretty tame home life - it’s boring and i’m sure that’s why i prefer rahim, who feels more realistic as a character. (not discrediting benji’s story - it was important to discuss, but it felt out of place). don’t even get me STARTED on the “what does me being white have to do with it?”
victor says in ep 9 [referring to his parents, but the sentiment remains the same]: “maybe that’s part of the problem; what are the odds the first person you date is the person you end up with?”
from that same conversation, rahim echoes the phrase “felt like magic” to victor in the finale when he’s speaking about their relationship.
but either way, i like this (tired) trope of a love triangle. give me all of the cheesy, dumb tropes….but make them gay. we need them, in moderation.
