The Dendrite Beast is not supposed to be able to experience any form of innate awareness of anything but the matter moving around. Why are they standing still, then? Did the apocalypse lead them closer to a sense of self, only to be locked in stasis with vague fragments that still do not represent thought reverberating inside their shell?
