Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado and his wife, Lélia Deluiz Wanick Salgado, have been instrumental in reforesting the Rio Doce Basin area in Brazil since 1998. Through their organization, Instituto Terra, they have planted over 2.7 million trees, successfully restoring more than 550 acres of forest and 2,000 natural springs.
Their efforts have transformed a once barren landscape into a thriving forest ecosystem, demonstrating the profound impact that dedicated reforestation initiatives can have on environmental restoration.

My Dear Sir:
You [al, struck through] will allow me on the part of my people to congratulate you most heartily for commissioning Hon Frederick Douglass Minister to Hayti. He is the Lion of our race and represents in its [most, struck through] fullest sense the honor and dignity of our people
In this connection I might add that the appointment of Lynch and Townsend of Indiana and other recognition recently had is more than ample testimony of the fairness of the administration toward the colored people of the entire country.
Gratefully Yours

lol i hate today’s era of absolutely zero nuance takes. a friend didn’t behave exactly as you’d wanted them to? cut them off. a guy didn’t text you back instantly bc he has his own life? he’s just giving you breadcrumbs. doing something makes you uncomfortable? don’t do it anymore. someone isn’t instantly available for you? disinterest. just absolutist statements that often don’t apply to the multilayer situations of everyday life. like. stop. literally just stop it
