Can we please put this giraffe mf out of his misery hes walking around like this š
Spring themed Dabi! Because Spring is all about New Life and Rebirth, right? š I guess this is a little bit to spite chapter 350. If the only thing keeping Dabi alive is his grudge, doesnāt that mean if he gives up on his revenge (or, āis savedā), then heād just dieā¦? :/ My fav parts of the drawing are the socks, the crystals and the little glass with the sapling. xDĀ
Thereās a lot to be said about what Dabi thinks of pro heroes, but one thought has been rattling around in my head for a while now: Dabiās definition of āheroā seems to hinge very specifically on concepts of selflessness and protection.
Virtually the first thing he does, every single time he meets a new hero, is mock their compulsion to care for others:
His first words to Aizawa:
To Vlad King:
To Snatch:
And then even with Hawks:
I find it equally interesting that the back alley thugsā threat to kill him on sight was met with immediate violence:
Without knowing whether their quirks might have been useful for the League at all, Dabi solidly writes them all off as ātrashā:
Looking back at this arc is hilarious because everyone had Same Face Syndrome but their same face was Overhaulā¦
Are they garbage because they all had weak quirks and Dabi somehow sensed thatāor are they garbage because Dabiās standard for āworthyā is based on his ingrained personal values, some of which might (ironically) have to do with how people treat others? At the very least, itās kind of interesting that the generally pleasant Twice recruits an absolute monster, while the only person Dabiās even close to recruited for the League is a hero.
Anywayyyy, none of the other League members respond to pro heroes with anywhere close to the same degree of consistency (Tomuraās dialogue is all over the place when confronted by All Might and he says almost nothing to Snatch; Toga flat out ignores Aizawa in favor of Deku, etc. etc.), and while Dabi has been in contact with more pro heroes than any other member of the Leagueāso heās had more opportunities to wax philosophic than the othersāI donāt think that this is just Horikoshi making Dabi the Leagueās mouthpiece.
The fact that this occurs repeatedly, sometimes with almost the exact same dialogue, makes it feel a lot more like a character-establishing hang-upāwithout prompting, Dabi habitually calls attention to pro heroesā drive to save others at the cost of themselves. He treats the idea, āheroes are always trying to save othersā like a definition or, bizarrely enough, an accusation, and he keeps coming back to that definitionāand his clear derision for itāwith every hero he meets.
When you lay out all his scenes, Dabi really does seem to be preoccupied by the notion of selflessness and the extent to which pro heroes will go to protect those who cannot protect themselves.
Thereās a lot to unpack with this idea and I really donāt have time to think all the ramifications of this through, but I noticed this and have been thinking about it for a while now.
While none of the other villains specifically dwell on it, Dabi keeps coming back to the idea that heroes are supposed to put others first.
Why, itās almost like heās got a massive chip on his shoulder about their willingness to save people from villains but not from the cruelty of fellow heroes. You get ONE guess which hero doesnāt get accused of caring more about others than himselfā¦
Just some food for thought!
no offense but there is no fucking way fuyumi could drop a truth bomb like āyea so natsuo honest to god believes that dad killed our brotherā and everyone just reacts calmly like bakugou literally doesnāt even blink an eye heās just like āah, that explains itā like uh huh ????? yāall just heard ur friendās brother died and his other brother thinks it was their father WHOM U ALL KNOW TO BE ABUSIVE who murdered him and all u have to say is oh worm? for real? on god? are u FUCKIN with me!!!!!!!!!!!!! no one is allowed to defend horikoshiās writing lmao i cannot believe that in a world of superpowers, this is the most unrealistic shit to come out of this entire story so far what the hell!!!!
Dabi lives in a dirty ass old car except he keeps it parked behind a 7/11 because he can't drive
when i was a teen i was the only one out of my sisters to have a part-time job which gave me a lot of sway in the household as the one who could help mom with money and also buy my sisters treats (nevermind all the money they stole from me and my insane complexes about having to buy love). point is that i was the one who paid for like 90% of the music on my and my middle sister's shared iTunes account and also paid for stuff when we walked downtown together.
anyways one day me and my sisters are walking downtown and me and my middle sister are arguing about the lyrics of rem's orange crush. things get heated, maybe i pushed her onto the road, there were no cars that she couldn't safely escape. whatever. in any case when we got home later that day i looked up the lyrics we were arguing about, realised i was in the wrong, and promptly deleted the song off my iPod and our iTunes account.
all of this is a long-winded way to say that i think yoichi and all for one could have this exact same scenario except that all for one would try to find a way to kill rem entirely from existence.
