Inner light
Something I’m finding pretty weird, and maybe a bit frustrating, in the fandom lately is people extrapolating one League member’s problems to exist in the rest as well; especially Dabi’s suicidal ideation as of late.
‘The League are all self-destructive and endanger eachother’ No that’s just Dabi. ‘The villains need to be given a reason to live for’ No that’s just Dabi. Shigaraki already has that. Toga especially already has that. Dabi’s the only one who wants to die.
Seriously, it actually feels silly to see claims that Toga wants to die when she has been telling us about her want to live despite the world being so incompatible to her since about the moment we met her, and fighting tooth and nail for her life for just as long. She could not be more unlike Dabi in this regard. Her entire character motive is to live, and there are people who think she’s suicidal. Okay. I don’t know what to do with that information beside be baffled by it.
sometimes i think of endeavor kneeling at touya’s altar, wishing that touya was still there. the dead cannot speak. you can conveniently make up your own story to suit them, imagine that the deceased son you cast aside would surely want nothing more than to be with family again. it brings me some fierce joy that dabi’s return denies that feel-good narrative, denies the desires projected onto his memory, that dabi can name the truth of why he vanished, that he can say for certain it was endeavor himself that drove him from the family and killed him in all but body. he’s no longer the child with no autonomy, no longer the dead without voice, he’s seizing the narrative and flipping it on its head and it is a euphoric moment.
The Institute for Palestine Studies has just launched a comprehensive encyclopedia of Palestinian history that's interactive and informative and really fun to explore. Now is the time to be learning history, not just for other countries but for your own as well. Really recommend taking a moment to check it out, especially the chronological timeline which I've been super enjoying:
re: last reblog i want to be in awe of people's imagination and the breadth of interpretation each individual can bring to a text, but my experience in fandom is that, in practice, people will use that imagination to try and headcanon their way out of racist or trans/misogynist or imperialist or pro-police texts.
I read through the manga for the first time recently (at least what's release in the US bc I prefer physical books to trying to read manga on a screen) and Spinraki kinda grabbed me by the balls ngl. The manga version of mva really sells me on Spinner's growing devotion to Shigaraki at a time where he seemed to be having doubts since it had drifted so far from Stain's ideology. Also gamer bfs playing LoL together and being dorks is just a really sweet thought. 💕
I totally agree with preferring physical copies of the manga over reading digital, it drives my brother crazy lol.
Spinneraki is such a good ship, I love it so much!
I was listening to music while I was drawing this and bunch of sad love songs started playing and looking back it definitely had an impact without me even realizing it until I got too far. It had a very different vibe when I started lmao
Oh well... enjoy some super soft Spinneraki on the house
There was a story behind this image but I'll just leave it up to you guys to come up with your own.
