But honestly that's so true. "Don't like, don't read" is like the basis of fanfiction, and that should expand to not hating on people who do like it. However I do feel like recently (in the past few years) since Fandom has become much more mainstream, people treat it more like Netflix, instead of the home cooked meal it once was. Like someone put their time and effort into making this, because they wanted to, and people hate on it like the newest netflix show.

Like Sinn said, you don't always have to add your own opinion, because at the end of the day, no one really cares.

My TikTok FYP is filled by F1 content creators reacting to the AO3 Wrapped, particularly to the presence of Lestappen and Landoscar. I’ll never understand why some feel compelled to comment on a space that clearly isn’t meant for them.

It’s perfectly fine not to understand, but there’s no need to belittle others for finding joy in it. RPF has existed for decades and isn’t going anywhere. It’s purely fiction, and while there has been recent discourse around the blurred lines between reality and fiction, those concerns reflect only a small fraction of the fandom.

At the end of the day, fandom spaces are meant to foster creativity and connection. If you can’t engage with them respectfully, perhaps it’s best to simply scroll past and let people enjoy what they love in peace. You don’t always have to add your two cents.

So I had a quick Monty b about it until she remembers that maybe she did say that and just forgot it -> we established that they never went iceskating -> she mentions that since she’s got some weed from somewhere (it’s legal where I live) her friend wants to make brownies ->since she’s doesn’t want to be alone she invited her crush -> her crush accepted, then cancelled -> I jokingly say she should invite me instead -> she does -> we start planning said sleepover/weed smoke meet-up idk -> Friend 2 joins convo in the middle of this (Side note: Friend 2 is like straight A student with a strict mum, you now the vibe) -> Friend 2 reads the convo and is like “wtf am I supposed to say abt this” -> we ask if she wants to join -> she says yes, but she’s busy -> we chat for a minute longer, then go to bed

Had a traumatic day today.

I wrote an exam in German today and it went 2,5 hours, which isn’t even the worst of it.

We had to do like a summary and other stuff, but the text we had to summaries was basically about using AI chatbots instead of therapists. And for some reason, FOR SOME REASON, the author decided to mention some examples and the first one he used, I kid you not, was Character.ai

Yep, the one and only, and it was so fucking hard not to laugh my ass off in that moment.

The funniest thing, was that the author was specifying the use of chatbots for people who had recently lost someone or old people who are lonely. Now I don’t know how often you’ve used C.ai, but every single times I’ve opened a chat, the bot somehow makes it sexual, and I just couldn’t stop laughing at the fact that some people are going to open this to maybe talk to their favourite celebrity or fictional character as a way of comfort, just for Harry Potter to flirt with them.

Just realised I’ve spent almost a decade of my life in school. I know compared to some people it’s not a lot, but like, a decade is A LOT, especially if I haven’t even lived for two

I would love this, not just for myself (I love talking about fics more than I love writing them) but also to ask other authors

Hi lovelies! I just wanted to make a quick post regarding plagiarism. I’m am so flattered that my works have inspired some of ya’ll to write some of your works! I genuinely love that my work does that.

What I don’t love is people taking my concepts, ideas, formatting, my literal stories without asking me first. I like to think I’m a very kind and understanding person. A lot of you know that if you reach out to me asking to use my work as inspiration I WILL SAY YES!! I have met so many amazing artists this way.

It’s so disheartening to see someone take something I’ve worked so hard on and make tiny changes and post as their own without even reaching out to me. When some of ya’ll reached out to me letting me know this happened to my most popular fic, I won’t lie, I was devastated. I honestly was ready to stop writing The Road to Parenthood because of one person.

If whoever wrote that fic sees this, thank you for taking it down. I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you meant no harm. But in the future, just reach out to an author if you are inspired by their fic. I do this all the time. I’ve made so many friends doing this. I MET MY GIRLFRIEND BY REACHING OUT TO HER LIKE THIS. I promise you, authors don’t bite. 9/10 times you ask to use someone’s fic as inspo they will say yes.
