Plant of the Day
Thursday 29 June 2023
Walking along the main road into Lerwick, Shetland, my friend and I noticed this amazing group of Dactylorhiza purpurella (northern marsh-orchid) which had colonised this dry embankment which was part of a car park landscaping. This orchid is normally found in marshy fields, roadside verges, fens, marshes and sand-dune slacks that remain damp throughout the year but plants will grow in drier places such as old waste tips, abandoned quarries and apparently car parks.

I can see why someone would worship a tree. Not every tree but some of them tempt me to idolatry. Like... Anyone else get this

I always get so fucking mad when I remember that itโs actually a 16-year-old Algerian girl who influenced BOTH Picasso and Matisse. and. No one gives a ratโs ass about her work which was very focused on women and nature. History -or people dare I say- didnโt bother to remember her name because she was a young Algerian woman and no one cares about Maghrebi/Arab women. unlike P*casso & M*tisse who both became legends, almost gods both during their lives and after their deaths, no one knows her.
Her name was Baya Mahieddine.
If I was a tree I would be a pine because thatโs all I do :,( || future botanist || lesbian || 19 || Sideblogs: trashyenby, atb-fandomstuff
