brainrot so real I already have a chapter two of my Scout time travel AU

au where after scout dies dec 14 1987 he just. wakes up on like the day after he joined the merc team during the gravel wars. and he has to constantly catch himself from being overly friendly with people like Sniper or Spy who havent opened up to him yet or catch himself from referencing things that havent happened yet and he's not very good at it but when your team is people like Medic and Pyro, the rest of them are like "ok so our Scout's weird. why do i care"

thoughts:

-Spy lowkey is nervous that Scout knows because why is Scout being so friendly with him

-Scout misses his kids and keeps freaking out about his kids and who takes care of them after he dies (Spy is a good babysitter but some part of him doesnt trust Spy to like. actually raise his kids because. well. you know. Also the comic writers confirmed Scouts Ma isnt dead in comic 7 she just wasnt there for Smissmas she has 6 other kids so maybe she can take care of them? or his brothers???) and every once in a while he's like "my children..... oughhhhh my children 🥺"

-so the rest of the team thinks he had like. kids really young (hes like 27 in comic 6 so) and they also mustve died really young at like 2 or something and thats why he's a merc is Tragic Past TM

-this also worries Spy because why didnt he hear about this. whats the point of spying and checking in on Scout is he didnt hear about this. he calls Scouts Ma and shes like "what the fuck are you talking about Jeremy doesnt have kids" so Spy is actually losing his mind over this because it doesnt seem like Scout is faking about missing his kids (Scout is obviously hiding. something though)

-Scout has also been through his character development of comic 7 so while he still kicks ass he's a lot less hotheaded and gets along with the mercs easier.

i dont know where im going with this but someone needs to write a fic about this i mean i COULD do it but when i start writing time travel fics they just. never end.

Rewatching all the Meet The Mercs videos and analyzing them, I just realised how crazy strategic Scout is. He's even more intelligent then Spy in that manner.

In Meet The Scout, it opens with Scout analyzing the play field. He looks at where each opponent are, instantly draws out the weakness, and who, where, and how he'll go about this battle.

He first sees Sniper aiming somewhere else, then Spy, with Engineer running behind him, to the sentry that Engineer caught up with, and finally focuses in on Pyro and Soldier.

Instantly, INSTANTLY, he runs in, dodging all the turrets bullets and (who or what got the train moving, I don't know) but he lures Soldier and Pyro in front of it, killing them, before moving onto Spy and Sniper.

My man just 1v1'd almost the entirety of the BLU team.

And yet I still don't get why people think he's clueless or oblivious to stuff. Dudes obviously INCREDIBLY clever. He's just not book smart.

Everytime I see sniperspy, it's usually opposite teams, which is lovely but I also believe in same team sniperspy, because of this match I had while playing Sniper on Thunder Mountain. I was using the bullshit countries away sightline by the BLU spawn on the first stage, the one on the rocks. I can't see shit but I feel like every sniper needs to use a bullshit spot at least once in their life so I'm sticking to it. Though I can't hit shit. Anyway I hear a spy decloak behind me and I turn, ready to throw hands.

But the only spy there is my team's, and he's busy running to the fight. I feel like he glances at me a bit, but he's gone before I can think about it.

I feel silly but I figure he's just testing his cloak, because I don't hallucinate decloaks, not yet anyway. A few minutes later, and there it is again. Someone decloaks behind me. This time I turn and there is my spy, but he's acting very suspicious. Has a mask on and everything. I run over to rip him up, and he starts dancing around, dodging me and feinting. We're jumping around for at least a minute before I run right into and through him.

It's my fucking spy. I've been juggling around for the past minute with my own spy.

He realizes the jig is up and he looks at me for a long moment, probably laughing at me behind his impassive face, before he's running off to fight again.

I go back to sniping, feeling horribly embarrassed. I move around and eventually get caught by a scout. After coming out of spawn, I go to stand on the rocks again to check things out. Can you guess what happens next?

I hear a decloak behind me and I'm sure this time this is the enemy spy. It has to be. No way my spy would still be screwing with me this deep into the match. I turn, and yep, there's a spy, wearing a mask and everything. Knife at the ready, I take a few steps forward.. before I just stop.

I stare at this spy. He stares at me. I look at him for a looong moment before I grab my rifle back and turn around. He comes up to my side and I tense, because shit maybe it is actually the enemy spy, but the stab he hits to my side bounces right off.

My team's spy looks at me, opens up VC and chuckles, before telling me in this smooth, soft little voice, "Sniper you should move up. You're not gonna hit anybody from here."

And he runs off again. Bastard.
