A little thought about mermaids

I like to feed into the fantasy that some of us are of decedents the sea. From when humans took mermaids or sirens as lovers. So after generations only a few traits in modern day time remain. Such as ability to sing. To compel an audience with just their voice like the sirens who would lure sailors to their doom. Or perhaps it’s why some long for the sea like a home they’ve never known.

You might find that your hair looks more beautiful after you’ve taken a dip in the ocean. That you have a talent for finding wonderful shells and sea glass.

It’s the reason why as a child you might have looked up many mermaid spells. Each more absurd than the last. You want to return to the sea.

I like to pretend that I am a mermaid or descendent from one. It makes me feel more magical in the mundane moments of this life.
