Last night, I attended the opening of Paul Abell’s art exhibition at Rathmines Library. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. Paul had already begun to sell his many paintings featuring buildings, boating scenes and landscapes. I particularly loved Paul’s paintings of one or two boats moored on a hazy shoreline which are the biggest sellers. Paul’s exhibition will continue for just today and tomorrow. He hopes to raise €8,000 the Capuchin Day Centre for the Homeless and Mellon Educate, a charity that builds schools in South Africa.
Classy.
Last night, I attended the second opening of ‘Ship Is Mine’ at In-spire Galerie, 56 Lwr Gardener St, Dub 1. There was a wide variety of work to see including paintings, prints, sculpture and video installations. Plenty of good music added to the relaxed atmosphere and was not played too loud for people to talk. ‘Ship Is Mine’ will continue until next week. Classy.

Last Thursday night, I attended the opening of Liam Gillick’s exhibition ‘A Depicted Horse is not a Critique of a Horse’ at the Kerlin Gallery. I was most intrigued by the large drawings created in the style of wood cut prints. The wall mounted colourful sculptures provided a nice juxtaposition with the black and whiteness of the drawings. It appeared, to me, that the sculptures built from girders painted in blocks of strong colours acted as a colour chart for the 2D work. I found Liam’s exhibition quite different in content and execution and enjoyed it. His exhibition will run until 19th January 2019 at the Kerlin Gallery, Anne’s Lane, South Annne’s St, Dub 2.

Yesterday, I visited the RHA, 15 Ely Place, Dublin 2 to see the 188th RHA Annual Exhibition on its last day. It was my second time attending this show and was worth the effort. I enjoyed viewing work by familiar artists such as Ken Drew, Richard Gorman, Eithne Jordan, Alice Maher, Mick O’Dea, John Shinners and Donald Teskey along with some new names. Classy.
Last night, I attended the opening of Sinead Ni Mhaonaigh’s latest exhibition at the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery called ‘Achar’. Loved the combination of colours especially where they appeared in dapple patterns. Sinead’s exhibition will run until 26th May 2018. Classy.

Last Thurs 12th Dec, I attended the opening of Guggi's exhibition 'Broken' at the Kerlin Gallery. The gallery was packed but I managed to see as all of Guggi's work which was worth the effort. There were lots of nice people to meet in a relaxed atmosphere. I had a wonderful night and even met Guggi. His exhibition will continue at the Kerlin Gallery, Anne's Lane, Sth Anne's St., Dub 2 D02 A028 until 17th Jan 2020.

Last night, I attended the 5th Anniversary Opening Night at the Open Window Gallery, 205 Rathmines Rd Lwr, Rathmines, Dub 6. It was very busy despite the wet weather. The atmosphere was relaxed with wine and nibbles. Plenty of artwork in a wide variety of mediums to view.

Just back from the opening of Sinéad Ní Mhaonaigh's exhibition 'Dwelling' at the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Chancery Lane, Dub 8. Most of Sinéad's paintings were the same shape and size which gave consistency to her exhibition. My favourite painting was the large yellow one called 'Dweling' because it was cheerful. The venue was busy, the atmosphere lively. Sinéad's exhibition will run until 2nd Mar 2024.
