Dáire Lynch at Gallery X
I saw the opening of Dáire Lynch's exhibition at Gallery X, 11 Hume Street, Dublin called 'The Light Falls Softly'. The venue was packed. There were many paintings on view which ranged in size and content. However, most of Dáire's paintings were figurative in genre. I particularly liked his large blue paintings each featuring a single figure with a patterned background. Dáire's exhibition will only run for another week.

I am taking part in the South Dublin Life Drawing Exhibion at Ranellagh Arts Centre, 26 Ranellagh Rd, Ranellagh, Dublin 6 running until 16th April. Last night, I attended the opening which was packed. Sandra.
Last night, I attended the opening of Michael Coleman’s exhibition ‘Still Life’ at the Kevin Kavanagh gallery. His colourful paintings varied from abstract to landscape. I liked his installation of a shelf on which a collection of painted cards stood. The shelf was hung over one of his larger paintings called ‘'Connolly’s Folly’. My favourite painting was ‘Tiger Lilies’ with its combination of pink, green and yellow. Michael’s show will run until 6th April 2019 at Chancery Lane, Dublin 8.

Last night, I attended the opening of Michael Quane's exhibition 'Belonging' at Solomon Fine Art, Balfe Street, Dublin 2 D02 T802. This event was packed. I had plenty of people to talk to. Michael had carved his sculptures in limestone and marble. His figurative pieces were full character and life. I loved his Nabresino Head Study carved from Nabresina- light limestone due to its simplicity and clean lines. To my eye, it appeared monumental and would suit being carved to a much larger scale. Other artworks that I liked included 'Taurus Bouyancy' and 'indigenous', both carved from Bordiglio marble, due to their smooth finish, rounded shapes and warm grey colour. I was fascinated to learn from Michael that some areas of a stone block are harder than others. One has to adapt to this variation of hardness in stone as one carves it. Michael's exhibition will run until 19th Oct 2024. It was well worth going.

Tonight, I attended the opening of 'Yan', at the Taylor Gallery. Nine artists are exhibiting work ranging from paintings on paper and plywood, collages and a few sculptural poeces. I loved John Graham's grid images with their combinations of vertical and horizontal lines and enjoyed Jin Hirosawa's colourful paintings for their humour. 'Yan' will run until 22nd Feb 2020 at the Taylor Galleries, Kildare St., Dublin.

Yesterday evening, I attended the opening of Gillian Lawler's exhibition at the Molesworth Gallery called 'Edgelands'. Plenty of other people attended the event. Gillian's paintings appeared hazy and dream-like. The quality of light in them was quite beautiful. His exhibition will run until 20th July 2023 at 16 Molesworth Street Dublin 2.
