Anders At Reds Gallery

Anders at Reds Gallery

I also went to the opening of Anders' exhibition 'The Art of Subtle Collection' at Reds Gallery, 21 Dawson Street, Dublin 2 D02 TK33. The venue was busy. Plenty of people came. Anders' digital artworks were colourful and detailed. My two favourite artworks were abstract compositions of rectangles and stripes executed in warm colours. Anders' exhibition will run until Wed 14th May 2025. Reds Gallery is located up a few flights of stairs but is worth the climb.

Oliver Sears Gallery

Last Thursday, I attended the opening of Sarah Walker’s exhibition ‘The Drawings On The Sky’ at the Oliver Sears Gallery, 29 Molesworth St, Dub 2. I enjoyed it very much and particularly loved her tapestries featuring a single tree like ‘Red Tree’, ‘Mauve Tree’ and ‘Spring Tree’. Sarah’s exhibition will run until 22nd June. The opening itself was well attended. I also had a quick look at the work of Jose Maria Yague Manzanares but it did not appeal to me. His exhibition is called ‘Wolf’ and will run to 22nd June Classy

I particularly loved Jim’s vessels with their subtle use of colour and simplicity of form. Jim’s wonderful exhibition will continue until 30th Sept 2018 at Gallery Zozimus, 56 Frances Street, Dublin 8. Classy.

Margaret Egan at Solomon

Last Wednesday, I saw Margaret Egan’s exhibition ‘The Breath of Sound and Earth’ at Solomon Fine Art. I loved the atmospheric quality of her paintings. The work depicting people was full of movement and had a nice line to each figure.  Her landscapes and seascapes were dark and brooding is a pleasing sense. I thought that all four horses in ‘The Sound of the Earth’ were well portrayed. Margaret’s exhibition with continue until 2nd March 2019 at Solomon Fine Art, Balfe Street, Dublin 2 beside the Westbury Hotel.

His exhibition will continue at the Kerlin Gallery, Anne's Lane, Sth Anne's St., Dub 2 D02 A028 until 17th Jan 2020.

Michael Wann at the Solomon

Tonight, I attended the opening of Michael Wann's exhibition 'The Old Grieving Fields' at Solomon Fine Art, Balfe Street, Dublin 2. I enjoyed looking at his many drawings done in charcoal on paper. He had created most of his artworks in a nice compact size from 23 x 30 cm to 70 x 60 cm.

I will discuss my favourite drawings starting with 'Omens/Crows Arriving'. It appeared quite eye-catching with all the passing birds in flight.

Omens/Crows Arriving by Muchael Wann

His 'Controlled Explosion' was the most dramatic image in his exhibition.

I liked his attention to detail in his road images.

The High Bog Road by Michael Wann

A joy to view. Both artworks were small and hung in their own alcove with a third artwork that was similar in dimensions and subject matter.

I found this image to be evocative.

Aerial 3, Night Visions by Michael Wann

It reminded me of a dystopian vision of the future with fires burning in the distance under a dark sky.

Then there was the striking composition of helicopters flying in loose formation.

I liked the short title. It added a sense of storytelling to this image.

Michael's exhibition will run until 1st Mar 2025. It was well worth seeing it.
