The day Oda reveals Brook's life before he became a pirate will be the day I rest
i think chuuya would really like the offsping tbh (and crazy taxi)
I have my doubts that Akutagawa would be able to tell Atsushi “I love you”, like, ever. But - and you gotta meet me halfway with this one - I think his equivalent to it would be staying silent when his thousandth snarky remark or insult or aggression of the day comes, and make the effort to let it die on his tongue instead of hurting Atsushi.
Because that is in Akutagawa. Because he's evil and only made to hurt, because love has never and will never come natural to him. Because it's his nature to harm others, because he can't help it even if he didn't want to. And it's foolish to think he'll suddenly become a good person after getting together with Atsushi; Atsushi knows that.
But this one time– this one time, he can love Atsushi the only way he can. He won't give in to the temptation of reprimanding Atsushi when he trips on a mission. He won't maliciously comment on the fact that he's all messy and disheveled. If Atsushi asks him to do something, he will swallow the bitter impulse of crudely telling him off, and do as he says– just this time. Because for someone who's survived all his life on animal instincts and irrational impulses, maybe the greatest act of love he can manage is putting the beast to sleep for a little time. This time, even though it might not be what I was created for, I'll love you.
Throwback to Stormbringer really quick before I continue with the Prison Arc. With good reason too.
Referring to real-life Dostoevsky and Dazai.
Dostoevsky believed that suffering elevated, that it was essential for attaining true faith. Dazai feared God. He has only ever been able to believe in God's punishments due to the endless spiral of hopelessness and depression in his life. To him, suffering destroys.
Back to Bungo Stray Dogs.
Dazai made Chuuya suffer so that Chuuya could see that he isn't a monster. That I've known since I've written that portion. However, suffering destroys. He needed to destroy Chuuya's misconception of him not being human, and because to him suffering destroys, he believed Chuuya needed to suffer to break. So, no, Dazai didn't do it for shits and giggles.
I like to think that chuuya secretly donates to animal shelters and never tells anyone. he'll be boasting about how tough of a mafioso he is one second and then quietly covering the medical bill for a one-eyed kitten the next. animals don’t lie. they don’t stab you in the back or expect things from you in return for their love. they’re just soft and small and trying their best, and it hits a part of him he doesn't want to look at too closely. he reads every “thank you to our anonymous donor” update email like it’s classified intel. someone at the shelter sent a picture of a puppy in a cast once and he stared at it for ten minutes straight. he would rather be shot point blank then explain to someone why the photo is saved and favorited in his phone though.
its always sunny screencap redraw lolll
You know how I know Shanks is toxic with a capital T? Because as soon as bro pulls up to where his exes are at:
One of them IMMEDIATELY leaves as soon as he sees his face. You could not threaten him enough to breathe the same air as that homeless looking man. 😭
Meanwhile, the other is more upset by him pulling up than he is by all the other traumatic events he just went through in a literal WAR. Buggy doesn't have post traumatic stress disorder, he has post traumatic Shanks disorder. 💀
If cellphones were a thing in the One Piece universe they would both have Shanks' number saved as "do not answer" & I just wanna know exactly what put him in that position.

Creantzy posts Fyolai again after quite literally a year can you believe it
I find it really funny how Poe is basically the ada's emergency contact
You know maybe Atsushi’s the one who gets transferred to the Port Mafia.
Not because there’s maybe no one else to go although that’s…definitely a reason for it.
But because after that stunt he’s just pulled he’s gonna be lucky if Akutagawa ever lets him out if his sight again.
Sometimes self care is putting your silly little clown in silly little outfits
PLEASE tell me more about emily dickinson. she looks so rad.
Ah, ofc!
My process for her was basically this:
I wanted Chuuya to have another foil, one that functioned similarly to Dostoyevsky being a foil for Dazai. I wanted Chuuya to have his own Fyodor character, someone who can rival his prowess in battle while having polar opposite ways of handling the way they live.
I needed a poet, and I needed one that had similar vibes to Nakahara Chuuya's poetry, from what I've seen of it. And this is a hot take, but I think Emily Dickinson deals with a lot of the same themes? They both deal with grief and beauty and a lot of their poems are melancholic in nature. There's also some similarity in their biographies. Both of them were pretty obscure before their death (though Dickinson published even less). Both had an antagonistic relationship with education. Dickinson is also sometimes classified as a "transcendentalist" (though a lot of scholars don't agree on that front, and that her verse is a lot more innovative for the time).
I'm sure there's probably another poet who is more similar, but I was also a big fan of Emily Dickinson before this so...yeah.
I'm rearranging a lot of my ideas for this character, especially when it comes to her power. Lets just say I was deliberately avoiding an obvious choice for her power, but then I was like "Why, when that poem is rad". So, maybe I'll reveal more later?
I'm not a hater but so much shit is stupid
maybe i’m too much of a staunch “atsushi is kind of a dick” purist but i actually don’t think him witnessing dazai’s abuse will actually change all that much in terms of the direct relationships between these characters and how they act towards each other.
part of it is i think sskk’s ultimate arc is moving past the spectre of dazai haunting them, and part of it is like. akutagawa is (was..?) an abuser too. it would make no sense for atsushi to flip on dazai for akutagawa because it’s either he believes redemption is real and dazai has changed (which like, he objectively has, regardless of whether he handled his relationship with akutagawa well) and akutagawa can change too, or abuse forever tarnishes your moral character and then atsushi must hate both these guys (which he clearly doesn’t).
ultimately bsd has a complex relationship with abuse that’s often uncomfortable to acknowledge, like the fact that akutagawa has abused two women on screen and hasn’t actually made proper amends either, and the fact that bsd both acknowledges that the mafia is a cruel organisation based in child abuse and exploitation that largely operates by grooming children into violence, and also posits that the mafia is kind of a necessary entity for the safety of the city. child abuse in bsd is interpersonal, yes, but it’s also a larger system of exploitation of ability users, largely for combat, and practically every character participates in that system to a degree.
even the agency has child members, and while for some it can be argued that the agency saved them from bad situations, kenji, for example, seemingly lived a normal peaceful life until he was recruited to be a child soldier.
ultimately i don’t think the wish fulfilment scene where atsushi explicitly rags on dazai for treating akutagawa badly will ever happen, especially considering this isn’t news for him and atsushi hasn’t been sympathetic to akutagawa about it before. i’m not saying it’s not going to be called out, but i don’t think the #dazaiisoverparty is happening guys hold your horses
