Cunning Celt's Beginner Guide #6: Magical Properties of Common Fruits and Vegetables

I chose to write about fruit ‘n’ veg because you so often see magical properties of herbs, but these babies get left behind, and are a great resource, especially for kitchen witches.

Apple: red apples for love; gold apples for fame and popularity; green apples for prosperity.

Apricot: rejuvenation, love, longevity, healing; use in love spells to heal and reunite a couple whose relationship is on the rocks.

Artichoke: protection, use to get to the heart of a matter (peel away leaves to the heart).

Asparagus: power, protection, sexual stamina.

Avocado: glamours, love, lust.

Banana: protection (especially for travel), sexual stamina, fertility, prosperity.

Beans: butter beans to reduce stress, canary beans for happiness and success in the arts, black eyed peas for luck and psychic vision, fava beans for power, chickpeas for conquest, green beans for prosperity, red kidney beans for wisdom/love/healing.

Beetroot: prosperity, longevity, conquest, love. Juice may substitute for blood.

Blackberry: list, brings out the darker side of sex and sexuality (use sparingly), healing, wealth, protection.

Blueberry: protection, strengthen aura, strengthen determination.

Broccoli: protects against disease, protection, prosperity.

Brussels Sprouts: prosperity, protection, peace.

Cabbage: white for spiritual wholeness, green for prosperity, purple for power, red for love.

Carrot: psychic vision, lust, energy, willpower, fertility.

Cauliflower: protection, calms tempers.

Celery: communication, male virility, love.

Cherry: happiness, love. Juice may substitute for blood.

Corn: prosperity, protection, love.

Cranberry: can bond people together or tear them apart depending on how you use it.

Cucumber: alleviates stress and calms the mind, rejuvenation, glamours, lust, fertility.

Date: psychic cleanser, conquest, love.

Eggplant: wisdom/insight, purple for power and strength, white for purification and protection.

Elderberry: psychic protection, fidelity, spirit summoning, blessings, healing.

Fig: healing, peace, prosperity, happiness, fertility, creativity, protection.

Grapefruit: protection, uplifting, confidence.

Grapes: green for prosperity, purple for psychic and magical power, red for love and list and fertility.

Guava: fertility, sex, wealth, creativity.

Honeydew: love, marriage.

Horseradish: male virility, sex, fertility, purification, exorcism.

Kiwi: love, sex, prosperity.

Leek: exorcism, purification, protection, conquest.

Lemon; purification, love, beauty, longevity.

Lettuce: dark leafed for abundance, iceberg for calming, red leafed for employment; a money and prosperity vegetable.

Line: induce jealousy, command and compelling, release inhibitions, healing, protection.

Mandarin: cheerfulness, relaxation, calming, friendship.

Mango: love, sex, protection.

Mulberry: insight, inspiration, focus clarity, increased magical awareness, good for premonitions and precognitive abilities, protection.

Mushroom: illusions, glamours, love, psychic power.

Nuts: communication, money, luck, love, joy, produce quick results. Almonds for love; walnuts for prosperity and employment; peanuts to prevent poverty; pine nuts for lust; hazelnuts for wisdom; pistachio for love; pecans for prosperity; chestnuts for love and wisdom; cashews for luck and love; Brazil nuts for love.

Olive: wisdom, longevity, protection, prosperity, peace, fertility.

Onion: red for lust; white to clear obstacles; purple for power and seduction; yellow to dispel anger. Also healing, protection, exorcism.

Orange: prosperity, love, passion, creativity, luck.

Papaya: sex, fertility, wealth, lust, protection.

Parsnip: grounding, centring, prosperity.

Passionfruit: fertility.

Pea: peace, prosperity, beauty, love.

Peach: fidelity, happiness, longevity, love, protection, exorcism.

Pear: health, longevity, wisdom, protection, lust, love.

Persimmon: powerful fruit of luck for LGBT people.

Pineapple: prosperity, fidelity, luck.

Plum: summoning, spontaneity, love, protection.

Pomegranate: wealth, fertility, wisdom, luck.

Potato: sympathetic magic, protection, hearing.

Prune: longevity, beauty, clears obstacles.

Pumpkin: spirit honouring, protection from spirits, fertility, wealth.

Quince: love, protection, happiness.

Radish: red for love; white for spiritual protection.

Raisin: wisdom, longevity.

Raspberry: protection, courage, fun, playfulness, love.

Rhubarb: fidelity, protection, peace, happiness.

Scallion: communication, prevents misunderstandings.

Spinach: health, prosperity, energy, strength.

Strawberry: love, luck, infidelity.

Tangerine: love, cleansing.

Tomato: seduction, passion, love, prosperity, protection. Is a nightshade, so can be used in curses.

Turnip: cleansing, banishing, removes obstacles in love life, protection.

Watermelon: infidelity, luck.

Yam: summoning, love.

Zucchini: sex, fidelity, protection, prosperity.

Physical Healing Bottle Charm

You’ll need: A bottle or jar with lid Any of the following herbs(fresh or dried): rosemary, tumeric, ginger, basil Any of the following oils: lavender, tea tree, peppermint (especially for headaches), rosemary A candle in any of the following colors: green, blue, violet, red or white A slip of paper and a writing utensil

On the slip of paper, write the name of the person to be healed, or what is to be healed if it is you. Add this to your container first.

Then add whatever ingredients you have collected to the jar (herbs first, then oils).

If your jar is a little bigger, consider adding some cleansed water as well (you can cleanse by moonlight, sunlight or by intention).

Carve the same thing that you wrote on the slip of paper onto your candle, and anoint it with one of the oils you chose (I used just rosemary on my candle, and rosemary, peppermint and lavender in my bottle.) Light your candle, and say this incantation four(4) times:

Magic mend while the candle burns Sickness ends as health returns Harm to none, so mote it be

Seal your container and drip some wax on the top. Let your candle burn itself out in a safe place.

Do not open your container until the healing is complete.

Edit: I added a picture because this post didn’t have one yet and I actually did this ritual today because my sister is sick.

mercury retrograde means youre going to put your foot in your mouth if you arent careful. choose your words and when you use them with caution.

jupiter retrograde means you are going to feel like everyday is friday the 13th. roll with the punches and keep the big picture in mind.

venus retrograde means romance and relationships in general will be a giant mess for you. block people you know arent good for you and take care in forming any new connections.

saturn retrograde means that any task will feel impossible to finish once you start. stay committed and keep your end goals in mind.

Encourage Positivity

You can do this when you are in need of calming yourself or relieving anxiety, or when you need to reduce negativity and/or promote positivity at any time in your life.

you will need:

matches

your favorite incense

a yellow, orange or white candle

citrine, sunstone, yellow aventurine, or clear quartz (crystals for positivity)

amethyst, black tourmaline, turquoise, etc (crystals for emotional protection)

In the morning, find a quiet place and meditate, if you desire. Sit outside or inside, that is up to you. Sit on the ground and make yourself comfortable. Breathe deeply and slowly, try to let go of any weariness or negativity you’re feeling. You can hold the crystals in your hands, or just place them on the ground close to you. Use as many as you like.

Now, light the candle and the incense, and focus on the soothing smell of the incense and the hypnotic flame of the candle. Do not look away from the candle until you’re fully relaxed (this can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes, take as much time as you need). When you are ready say,

Pull out the energy within me which is sleeping Slow moving on a task is cause for weeping My energy and intellect is under a slow spell Remove the rock from under which it dwells

Visualize negative energy leaving you and positive energy coming up from within you and surrounding you. If you wish, you can visualize yourself surrounded by an energy shield, to protect you from negative energy and negative emotions from others. Blow out the candles when you are ready.
