Miraculous Ladybug redesign ft disabled Adrien and some thoughts
I LOVE GUINEA PIG HAPPY SOUNDS
cr 豚鼠大boss (sound on)
Okay, first of all, girl needs a real ass name not just "Sublime" please tell me that's a nickname.
But also omg so pretty with her hair like this okay.
But real thoughts now. I don't like how Mary Sue she is. Don't get me wrong, I do really like her so far, but she's just... TOO likeable. She has no character flaws. To me, it's coming off like the writers thought "disabled" and "traumatized" counted as character flaws which is frankly insulting.
I'm hoping I'm wrong here and they're gonna reveal more about her that will add some more interest and flaws, but, seriously, her being disabled is NOT a flaw, and there's no need to make her perfect to "make up" for her disability. It gives me disability inspiration obsession vibes, which is icky. Disabled people do NOT have to "overcome" their disability and be AMAZING people just to be worth your attention.
Again, I hope I'm wrong, the show has dealt with disability better before, but I truly just hope they add some spice beyond *trauma*, which is also not a character flaw.
I AM excited to see what they do with her!
Okay but these shows that deal with "adult" topics absolutely ARE for children! While there might be a couple things that they might not fully comprehend, they absolutely teach them SUPER important lessons! I watched ATLA as a child and learned a lot about morality and deep emotional conflicts! Miraculous showing a panic attack can absolutely show children that either they are not alone (I've had panic attacks since I was pretty young) or teach them empathy for people who struggle with that. What do you MEAN children aren't supposed to be exposed to those realities that will help them grow and develop into emotionally healthy adults?? THAT'S THE POINT. DID YOU NOT WATCH MR. RODGERS!?
annoyed by the "it was never a kids show" crowd bc the comment implies that kids don't deserve complex media. then they'll name things that happened in the show and be like "it was never for kids..." like yeah actually atla was liked by children and was child appropriate even with the topics covered. actually mlb is still liked by children despite marinette having a panic attack in s4 (genuine comment i read???). you can say "i like a show targeted towards children" and "the show isn't only for kids" without saying that somehow the show is too inappropriate for children to justify your like of it
