In a letter to a friend, Carroll described his own dancing technique as follows:
“As to dancing, my dear, I never dance unless I am allowed to do it in my own peculiar way. There is no use trying to describe it: it has to be seen to be believed. The last house I tried it in, the floor broke through. But then it was a poor sort of floor- the beams were only six inches thick, hardly worth calling beams at all: stone arches are sensible when any dancing of my peculiar kind is to be done. Did you ever see the Rhinoceros and the Hippopotamus at the Zoological Gardens, trying to dance a minuet together? It is a touching sight.”

“I don’t think Alice will be able to pull this off.”
Madeline stated, crossing her arms.
“She isn’t weak March, I’m sure she can keep them occupied enough for you shut down my cell block.”
“It’s not about her being weak Hattie, it’s just I don’t think she’ll want to join.”
In truth, she didn’t want Alice to join them. She had seen how Alice hung on Tetch’s every word and seemed to worship him. It was similar to Madeline’s own, except more extreme. Alice also wasn’t a criminal. Not yet at least.
“March!” Jervis gasped, “Why wouldn’t she want to join the tea party!?”
“I just think Alice needs more time, after all what will happen when the Jabberwocky comes for us all. We wouldn’t want Alice to get hurt, right?”
Hopefully appealing to Tetches more protective side of Alice would help.
“I can knock out the guards and shut down security for you.”
I guess I also relate to his want for people to be happy, feeling like you have to give this person a happy ending in order to get your own. To add, I truly would LOVE to live in a fantasy would, I remember one night were a almost cried with how badly I wanted to escape reality.
This version of Tetch will probably always be my favorite for both personal and more general reasons.

I absolutely enjoyed this little writing with Madeline and Shaw!
Ethereal: (adj.) extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world I'm curious to see what you'd do with Madeline and Shaw for this, thank you!
(Note to readers: The Madeline here isn’t Madelyne Pryor, it’s @themarchinghare‘s OC Madeline Daresbury akak The March Hare, who is also a baker!) “I’ve read that adults begin loosing their sense of taste between forty and fifty,” said Shaw, “It starts with the nuances, the subtleties, the underlying flavors dominated by the rest of the dish ...and by one’s sixties, one may begin to be unable to distinguish between the basic groups of sour, bitter, and sweet.” He ran one broad fingertip---even this smallest part of him was broad---over the crystalline structure that Madeline had concocted. “I stopped liking sweets before I started being able to afford them. Perhaps that’s why. I would have longed for this as a boy. Now, though?” He withdrew his hand from the ethereal creation of spun sugar that the baker had delivered on his order for tonight, “Now it’s just about how it looks. Which is spectacular. You’ll have your payment wired momentarily.”
“You’re the last person I wanted to see right now.”
"I'm so very sorry to disappoint you Shaw sir, but I must give you tragic news of your chauffeur!
You see he was driving here as it were,
when Magneto came and caused quite a stir. He grabbed the car and well,
to put it lightly, an accident did occur. "
The hare gave Shaw a sympathetic look, knowing full well he was more annoyed then any thing.
"I felt it was only right to tell you so you didn't think ill of him, when his fate was already so grim."
I’m not a psychologist so this is all just a guess. If you’d like me to elaborate why I headcanon these characters as having these disorders or want me to add more, please let me know! 🌧- For a heavy, emotional secret
[Mun speaks] Madeline knows her father remarried and had other kids. When she was finishing her degree in college one of them reached out to her, however Madeline chose not to keep in contact or tell Marcus.
Madeline worries that if her brother found out he would be less than thrilled. She knows her father's happy restarting life in another City, while the one in Gotham disintegrated. She respects his decision, but does desperately want to reconnect with her half-siblings. The only reason she doesn't is because she knows her father wants to live a completely separate life. Perhaps when he dies she'll visit his grave or perhaps she'll let have his wish and pretend she never knew him.
"...I- I don't want to burden him. I know Dad just wants to forget and pretend that we never existed... I can give him that. I understand why, why wouldn't someone want to start over? It was not the choice I made, but it's the one he wanted. If - if he wants to comeback then I won't stop him. I love him. "
