YEAHHHHHH HAPPY PRIDE YA'LL!!!!
(currently reading 2 queer graphic novels at once, in the first one, the protag is openly lesbian with a gf and her friend is in a gay relationship, and in the second one there is a gnc protag and a pan or polysexual protag, with an absolutely AMAZING WONDERFUL GREAT transmasc commander/general who binds and is trying to find hormones)
So i'm having a great time.
I am here once again fresh off listening to that vegan teacher reaction videos to share some dairy farm information and wisdom that was not asked for but you get anyway
Calf hutches are used to provide the calves with safe, clean living spaces and offer airflow in the summer and protection from the wind and cold in the winter, and using calf hutches often leads to better health for the calves and easier tracking of any issues they might have as well as making sure they all get the same amount of milk (also, the milk substitute for calves smells amazing)
Essentially, they're cribs for babies. Calves have really bad immune systems, and if you can't easily see which one has diarrhea, then that calf could very well die and spread the issue to the others. Farmers dont want their animals to die. (Farm animals are not cheap. Even if they were born on your farm, if they die you're losing out on the money you could get from them. 5 month old steers can go for over 1000 dollars)
And just as an example as how people twist calf hutches
did you maybe take the Rock Plorts out before you took the screenshot? lol
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
So it's snowing rn in my city, and a bunch of the younger kids are like 'why don't we get a snow day but the rest of the city does?' (because the East Side is still open because there's less snow and stuff)
And it's like, I'm sorry, but the rest of the city is more spread out and has more snow so it doesn't make sense for school to be open and the North End is literally a mountain.
i have double eye bags and the blue lines by the nose bridge that I got during my last show's Tech Week because I lost so much sleep
I was a special ability extra in a TV show last summer (that i think is streaming now on Disney Plus) and even though I got paid a lot, I felt so bad for everyone working those really long hours, and it seemed so stressful all the time!
After I got my costume, had my hair and makeup done, and got all ready and on the set, (which was outside on a farm but made to look like a camp if thats a hint) people were passing out those things that keep your hands warm, because it was so early in the morning and i think it just rained.
Then, later, after a few hours, the sun came out and people had to pass around water bottles or cups of water, and since it was late June it was really hot!
But yeah crafts services was good, on the first day I sustained myself on PBJ sandwiches and mac n' cheese, and the second day I had some amazing beans and rice, and when it rained I had hot chocolate.
All in all, amazing experience, but I'm still surprised that it took that much effort and people for just those two or three scenes that I was being an extra for.
I think it should take longer to make tv shows and movies. I think shooting days should be shorter. I think AD's lives should be longer. I think we shouldn't have to be in a goddamn rush all the time. I think we should have the time it takes to make good art. I think fans should wait even longer than they do and be happy that everyone who made the art is getting full nights of sleep.
People are often surprised I speak four languages but I consider it to be fairly average for where I'm from so now I'm curious
*if you're confused whether a language counts or not, ask yourself if you can hold a basic conversation in it. If not, and you can only understand but not speak it, skip it.

this is what makes tumblr beautiful
@moonthemagical look it's bees
Okay, entomology brain is annoyed by a Tumblr ad
Specifically, this one. First, Albert Einstein never said that.
Secondly, and more importantly, that is NOT a honey bee, or even a bee at all. That is a bee fly, a very important, very cute pollinator. However! They have parasitoid larvae! This means that they lay their eggs in the larvae of other bugs. Those eggs hatch, and those larvae eat the bug they’re in from the inside out. Sounds horrible, but it’s the way of things and I cannot understate how important these guys are.
The reason I’m annoyed about the picture of choice isn’t even that they didn’t picture a bee (not even in the right order- bees are hymenopterans. Flies are diptera.) What’s really grinding my absolute gears about the choice here? Bee flies parasitize bee larva.
If you’re going to use the wrong picture, at least don’t use the picture of something that actively kills what you’re trying to protect instead of the animal you’re protecting.
Also, honeybees, Apis mellifera, don’t need protection. They’re fine. They’re invasive in North America, even. Humans take care of them just fine. I’m a beekeeper, and I love them, but that’s not where our efforts should be. We should be trying to protect native bees, there are a whole bunch that I bet you’ve never heard of that need help.
Anyway, rant over. Sorry, I just could not let that one go.
This Tumblr account is for random reblogs, theatre stuff, and my All For The Game hyperfixation. (and other silly queer things) Enjoy!
